Since returning from injury in late december McGrady has been arguably the best player in the league. If T-mac keeps up his elite play (and the Rockets keep winning) does McGrady have a chance at getting the MVP? Here is a list of his point output in games since Dec. 29. Remember he is also throwing out over 6 assist and grabbing 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting near 50%(since returning from injury in late december).
i don't think a guy can be the TOP MVP CANDIDATE based on his play in the month of january alone. if they did that, i'd probably give the MVP to Yao for his play in November... if i recall correctly he was ripping t!ts and taking names.
but i agree with fatboy... nash, dirk, kobe are the top 3 in that order.
He's nowhere close to being the top MVP candidate. He's maybe top 5.
I would go with Nash, Kobe, and Dirk over him FOR SURE. He's maybe #4 at best.
EDIT: Neither one of our guys are MVP candidates in my eyes. The reason being that they have both led the team to very good success without the other.
I agree, and if the season ended right now McGrady certainly is not getting the MVP. But notice I said if he keeps up his play throughout the rest of the year. Meaning T-mac continues his recent dominance and the Rockets finish 4th or possibly 3rd seed in the west.
Yes he is, he has carried the team on his back that was said to be at best a .500 team without Yao. Tmac has averaged 30 pts 7.1 ass and 5.2 reb. He should be in the mention.
what has Kobe done that Tmac hasn't since coming back from injury?
really curious to hear this.
and Nash? cmon. Nash shouldn't even be a candidate but you know how that goes.
Kobe is leading a team to a possible 4th seed after injuries to several starters. Before the season almost every1 except Greg Anthony said he the Lakers wouldnt make the playoffs.
And as much as I hate Nash, i have to come to the conclusion you are joking

Uh, "in the mention" and the "top candidate" are two completely different things, my friend.
I put him "in the mention" while still establishing that he is not the "top candidate".
switch kobe with tmac and you just described the rockets.
Yeah, it's pretty much the same thing. We've actually had it a bit worse, IMO.
We've lost Yao and Tracy for stretches (our two best players). They've lost Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown for stretches (their 2nd best and maybe 3/4th best player).
We just have a better team than LA. They just have the best player in the game.

a possible 4th seed? Right now its Dall-Suns-SA-Utah-Hou-La. None of these other teams have had injuries -- oh wait Yao is injured and Boozer and who is injured for LAL - right Kwame.
It seems like T-MAc gets really passive when he plays with Yao...like he turns into a role player(this is what I have seen from the few games i have seen)
