I doubt it.

Hockey fans know who NBA players are, on;y Hockey player I've ever known are Wayne Grezky and Mario L (I can't even spell his last name.)

NBA revenue last season was 4.3 billion, NHL was 3.0 billion. NFL was 9.5, MLB 7.7

Canada's #1 sport is Hockey. When i was in Vancouver for about 3-4 days, hockey was literally everywhere i went.

The NHL is also competitive with the NBA in the Central/Atlantic/North East regions at the gate but the main difference is TV $$$$

watching Hockey live is much better than on TV imo

No source but from what I know, NHL generates a lot of their income from ticket sales, an area which they do a lot better than the NBA. NBA generates most of their income from TV revenues, ads, etc.

Ticket sales, Canadian support and middle class fanbase for the NHL make their revenue gap not too far apart from the NBA.

Like I mentioned, they put butts in seats because they sell tickets well and don't need to lower their prices.

Absolutely. It's such a fast game with so much going on. TV doesn't do the speed of it any justice.

I don't know if this is a factor to their great ticket sales or not but like MLB, the NHL has a really good minor league/farm system with teams located in "minor cities" across America so they have a good connection not just big big cities/big market but smaller cities too.

Example: They got New York City covered with the Rangers and Islanders but their minor league teams are Albany Devils, Binghamton Senators, Syracuse Crush and Rochester Americans. They got the entire New York state covered. With that kind of connection, they have a good fan support from big and small cities to sell tickets.

Baseball and hockey fans don't laugh at their minor leagues like NBA fans do with the D-league. They actually care about their farm teams.

Come on Stuckey, this is common knowledge(for what the past 20 years+), although many Canadians don't know jack sh*t (not implying you here)...

Plus factor in the lock out that just happened. Not a chance.
