Default When the Nets arrive to Brooklyn...

and the Knicks are continuously mired in mediocrity because of Isiah's hold over Dolan, do you think the Nets will finally pry away more tristate area fans? or will Knick fans blind loyalty to a sinking ship keep them with the Knicks?

I think the Nets will. They did this season. No reason to assume that won't continue if the Knicks keep on blowing donkey ass.

The Nets will get a strong following, but the Knicks are the Knicks.

Just like Lakers and Clips. Clips will get a following when good, but the Lakers will always be the Lakers....

Brooklyn though part of Greater New York, is still considered part of New York City.

based on Ratner's new building scheme, the Port Authority is goin to divert a subway to the arena.

from MSG to the new CAA, it should be about 15 minutes... they are literally next door neighbors.

Yikes...

Here's a recap for the out of towners.

New York City is made up of five boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island.

Most of what out of towners think of NYC is Manhattan. That's where MSG is, that's where Times Square is, Empire State, all the big skyscrapers, Central Park, Wall STreet, Broadway, etc.

But many people live in the other four borroughs. Brooklyn is simply a subway ride from Manhattan to Brooklyn. And where the Nets will be playing is very easy to get to for the Manhattanites. It's only a half hour subway ride from Midtown Manhattan and only fifteen minutes from Downtown Manhattan.

But Brooklyn is Brooklyn. So many Manhattan people simply won't go there. But Brooklyn has probably 4 million people on its own. So it will get people to go to the games. (Although Brooklyn is lower-middle class mostly, while Manhattanites usually Upper-Middle Class and have more disposable income)...

To give you some perspective, the Knicks and Rangers play in MSG in Manhattan. The Yankees obviously play in the Bronx. The Mets play out in Queens. So the Nets will be the only professional sports team in Brooklyn, which wasn't represented yet. (Staten Island doesn't count).

Knicks are still the knicks....they wont lose too much... Once Zeke & Dolan snap outta this fantasy world they have been living in, the knicks might start winning again and the fans will come back.

Brooklyn Nets will own Brooklyn and maybe a few other boroughs as well

They don't have to divert a subway to where the Nets are. The Nets are being built next to the 3rd largest subway station in NYC. It's very fortunate spot. Literally, about 10 different subway lines converge on the spot where the new Nets arena will be. That's why it's a fantastic location. No additional subway planning necessary....

"The Brooklyn Nets Arena is a proposed US$3.5 billion sports arena, business and residential complex to be built partly on a platform over the Metropolitan Transportation Authority-owned Atlantic Yards at Atlantic Avenue in the New York City borough of Brooklyn."

Atlantic Avenue is a major major subway stop in Brooklyn. Many subway lines go there. I assume the actual stadium is being built right near this spot.

As long as the Knicks and Rangers play in MSG they will be the favorites in New York.

BTW, when are the Nets officially moving to Brooklyn? I really hope their tickets will be much cheaper then the Knicks, because finding tickets is hard enough, let alone paying for them.

That'll determine the Nets' chances to surpass the Knicks. If they bring in a team like last seasons they can do it. If, however, they're trying to market a 37 year-old Jason Kidd and Carter's on the decline...Nenad Krstic better be an All-Star.
