Unhappy What to do with Crawford out for the season?

Jamal Crawford, having a career season and arguably the Knicks best all around player had his season ended by a stress fracture. Suffering in pain for three weeks, yet playing great ball including the winning three in his last game, Mr. Big Shot, the Knicks clutch player, announced he will undergo surgery and be out for at least the rest of the regular season.

Tell us your opinion of what should the Knicks do and how they will do without him?

Bring on a new player?
D League?
Waiver Wire?
Retired veteran?

Give some other guy(s) on the bench more playing time?
Who?

Who should replace him in the starting line up?
Yes Q will move to SG, but who should be the new SF?

What do you think the effect of the loss of Crawford have on the Knicks?

I can just pray that losing both Francis and Crawford will get the Knicks working together like they were in the stretch after the brawl. It seems like now we either start Lee, Balkman, or Collins with Crawford. Balkman seems more like an energy player off the bench (much more than Lee) but that doesn't mean he's not effective at playing for long periods of time. I say we start
Curry/Frye/Lee/Q-Rich/Marbury with
Collins/Robinson/Balkman/Rose(Jeffries)/Cato coming off the bench
And when we get down we send in
Robinson/Q-Rich/Balkman/Lee/Frye to provide some youthful energy and ploy small.

btw is Cato injured?

D League. Someone that thirsts to belong in the NBA. Nothing to lose and everything to gain. Young fresh legs. That'll play his heart out.

Thank You
Only if Zeke should see it.
Zeke wants an elite shooter and all dat bs but doesnt he notice that we play best when we play DEFENSE.
Collins,Balkman, and Jeffries all play defense and can gaurd bigger players.

Zeke is more afraid that Lee can't gaurd athletic 3's but he doesnt know that
Frye always helps defends for him.

He is also afraid that Frye can't gaurd athletic 4's but Lee is big enough and mobile enough to help defend as well.

With Lee at the 3 we will always win the rebounding war and push the ball with more efficiency cuz Lee runs da Floor.

Curry will play better and so will Marbury screw it so will Frye. Lee makes all these guys gel. Lee isnt the best player he jus makes others play better. PERIOD.

Balkman will bring to da bench what Lee did but maybe more cuz he gaurds 3's,4's, and 5's. And rebounds very well and brings the ability to block shots as well. Who can gaurd athletic players(If he can only shoot da dam ball).

Collins will get better its just gonna make time. He makes typical rookie mistakes but i see it in him..trust me if he continues to get playin time hes gonna be great for us. With experience and a jump shot he can be our general and pg for the next 10 years. He plays defense, strong and knows how to run a team and UNLIKE our other players(other then Lee) has a high basketball IQ. BUT AGAIN HE JUS CAN'T SHOOT.

These guys are not winning players unless they play Dfense and learn the game of basketball:
Eddy Curry
Marbury(he knows the game but now how to win it)
Crawford
Nate
Jerome James
Balkman(with a valid excuse, he only played organized ball for 2 years,so for that time span he's ahead of schedule)

Sad thing is 4 out 6 of these guys are in our rotation bcuz they hold the most talent.

Gotta keep Curry cuz of his upside and willingness to try now.
Marbury is playin well but after his contract is up or even b4 it let him go.
He's 30 hes not the pg of the future and he will hurt the growth of other pgs.

Get rid of Crawford i doubt he'll ever play D and shoot the ball efficiently.

Frye would be great if he was a tougher player but dam this kid is soft, skilled wise he's great and he could be a huge asset but he is just not a NY athlete.
He needs to play better D and learn other ways to score other then shooting.

Great comments guys!!!

Here are some of my thoughts:

1. Nate was out with the flu.

2. I'd really like to see Lee start.
He brings energy, rebounding, passing and super accurate/effective low-post scoring. Imagine if he can play alongside Curry the way he played in the rookie-soph all-star game? Nobody would be able to double team Lee or curry without getting burnt by the other open man.

3. Why not also bring in a hungry sharpshooter from the D League or a retired veteran? Best case: His hot shooting opens the game from the perimeter! Worst case? You've lost nothing.

4. Who would have thought that Thomas would have started Jeffries and Rose? Jeffries had a great game. Frye played much better than Rose.

5. Lets hope the Knicks can pull together. But, Crawford's absence means not only nearly 20 PPG in scoring but clutch shooting and assists especially to Curry for easy baskets. Not only that but Crawford's ball handling and penetration made it easier for Marbury and made Marbury even more effective. And no Knick is better than Jamal when the game is on the line!

6. Francis revised his thinking about his knee. After an MRI that showed no damage, he was practising again with the Knicks yesterday and should return to playing tonight. It would be great if increased playing time returns Francis into a dominant player. But who knows?

7. Mardy Collins got extended PT in last game and did well. But I don't thing he can fill the void that Crawford left.

8. While Zeke claims that he is NOT going to add a new player, the post reports that the Knicks spoke to veteran Jimmy Jackson a 36 year old SG/PG. His agent confirms this but adds that no offer has yet been made.

So what is new?

Sly and crafty Isiah is full of smile and beguile. History shows that he often shakes someones hand while he stabs them in the back. Any wonder why he was kept off the Dream Team by the likes of Magic, Bird and company?

The Knicks won without Crawford tonight behind strong performances by Marbury, Q, Curry and Collins.

If they keep true to form, tomorrow -- they lose.

Heaven forbid that they win two or three games in a row.
