Default Four movies the USA might have missed

1. La Haine (France, 1995)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113247/

Trailer: http://youtube.com/watch?v=SCW62RZ_CP0

Great movie, and the start of great carreers of Vincent Cassel and Mathieu Kassovitz. This movie was mdae in 1995 but it shows almost xactly what happened 2 years ago in Paris with the riots. This movie was far ahead of its time and it's a true masterpiece. By far my favorite movie ever.

2. Irréversible (France, 2002)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290673/

Trailer: http://www.mooviees.com/136/trailers

This was Memento before Memento. Very disturbing, but it still grabs your attention. Won't let you go. Infamous for the rape scene which shows Monica Bellucci getting attacked.

3. Night Watch (Nochnoy dozor, Russia 2004)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0403358/

Trailer: http://www.google.nl/url?q=http://ww...n9mgyo7u W22Q

Also check for Dnevnoy dozor (Day Watch 2006) and Dnevnoy dozor (Dusk Watch 2007). This movie is a nice example of how sick the Russian film industry is. The visuals are flat out amazing.

And bonus:

C'est arrivé près de chez vous (France/Belgium, 1992)

Man Bites Dog is a satirical, Belgian, black comedy mockumentary starring Benoît Poelvoorde. Released in 1992, its original French language title is C'est arrivé près de chez vous (It Happened Close to Your House), which derives from the former title of the local daily news report in Belgian newspaper Le Soir.[citation needed] In the film, a crew of filmmakers follow a serial killer, recording his crimes and grotesquely candid commentary for a documentary they are producing. At first dispassionate observers, they find themselves caught up in the increasingly chaotic violence. The film is shot in black and white and was produced on a shoe-string budget by four student filmmakers, led by director Rémy Belvaux. The genesis of the idea came from shooting a documentary without any money. As the filming went on, the students were able to garner more support and ultimately find a distributor.

I like the atmosphere, the vibe, the visuals..dark movies, good acting. I'd say I think the Matrix would be more overrated than those. Still I think you agree the effects were CRAZY. I forgot to add C'est arrivé près de chez vous (Man bites dog). I added it a a bonus, although I think this movie is better than Night Watch.
