Default Will the Blazers pull a Houston Texans (circa 06)

Lets go back about a year or so ago to the 2006 NFL Draft. Reggie Bush and Vince Young were the projected number 1/2 pick in the draft. The Houston Texans couldn't go wrong with either pick, but they did go wrong. In the words of Oakland slang, they went "dumb" and picked Mario Willams.

Do y'all see Portland doing the same thing in next months NBA Draft, passing on the 'sure fire hits' of Greg Oden and Kevin Durant and going for some other young'n.

PG - Jarrett Jack
SG - Brandon Roy
SF - Martell Webster
PF - LaMarcus Alrdige
C - Greg Oden

No.

Jarret Jack is solid in the PG role. Brandon Roy slashes and scores. Martell Webster shoots the 3. LaMarcus Alridge can play the mid-range jump shooting big man role. Greg Oden spends his time in the paint.

If you wanted to run when Oden was on the bench, you could go with a Sergio/Roy/Webster/Outlaw/Aldridge lineup.

Recipe for success, if you ask me.

Seriously, I know they've wanted a "run and gun" offense, but if you have the chance to get someone like Greg Oden, you do not pass that **** up. We've already seen how all the run and gun offenses did in the playoffs.. yeah, they're all fishing.

PF Randolph
C Oden

No Dice. . .

Espescially when you consider how Portland as a franchise is in dier need of an uplifting positive change. Combining both Oden & Durant, I guess you can somewhat compare this years draft to that of Lebrons in 2003 in terms of everyone in the universe fully acknowleding who was going to be selected first overall. It was just a flat out given but in this case there is two subjects for the taking. . .
One factor that can be somewhat misleading is how overly talented this crop of rookies appear to be but in the end I just feel that both Oden & Durants stocks contain too much potential & value to just watch them slip away in another teams grasp. And yes one could argue that after numerous successful seasons at USC & Tex, both Vince & Reggie were clear top ten picks come draft day but I don't feel they concreted themselves as definite number one & two seeds.

Did you see ESPN today?

They had a projected lineup of:

pg - J. Jack
sg - B. Roy
sf - L. Aldridge
pf - Z. Randolph
C - G. Oden

They have a bunch of morons working up there.

Naw I missed it. I was at work. Maybe they felt since Aldridge has a decent mid-range game that they could play him at SF? I dunno. Whatever. ESPN is wack sometimes.

As for Aldridge/Webster/Outlaw for Marion.. IMO Portland would be stupid to do that.

Why would Portland be stupid? Marion will never age and Outlaw is a free agent.

lol you still have faith in that overpaid piece of thrash?

If the trade happens, when do you see Aldridge overtaking the starting PF spot?

3rd preseason game.

That trade would be great for both teams.

Because Marion is soft. Aldridge was very clutch for Portland this year. Showed a lot of maturity for someone his age.

Also, Portland would be losing a 3 pointer shooter (Webster) that would be vital in a post-oriented offense.
