Default Finals Mvp Watch

It will be debated when the time comes. From SA:

Game 1

Tim Duncan led the spurs in shooting 10-17, rebounds 13 and blocks 5, he also shot 4-5from the ft line. He topped it off with 2 steals, only 2 to's and 2nd on the team with 24pts

Tony Parker, shot a decent 12-23, but on 3-6 from the stripe, had 4 rebounds, led the team with 7assists, and 27 points and topped it off with 2 steals and a whopping 4tos.

Manu Ginobili, had a relatviely bad night, shooting only 5-12 for 16 points. He did have 8 boards, but only 1 assists, and a few to's. He had 16 points.

No candidates for Cleveland from yesterday's game.

I'd give Game 1 to TD.
---------------------------------------
Game 2

Tony Parker led the team in shooting with 13-20 (65%) and 30 points, only 2 assists and a steal.

Duncan had 23 points, led the team with 8 assists, co-led in 9 rebounds but it doesn't seem that he got a block.

Manu had a better game with 25, still not shooting well (5-11)m but great 3 pt shooting (4-6) and ft shooting (11-11) 6 rebounds and 3 steals.

Also a nice game from Horry....

Game 2 goes to TP, with Duncan a very close 2nd.
----------------------------------
Game 3

Duncan with the "best" game for SA, he shot like crap, 6-17, and was 2nd on the team in scoring with 14, but he did lead the team with 9 boards and 3 assists, to go with 2 blocks and a steal.

T. Parker also shot like crap, 7-17, scopred 17 points, co-led in asssits but had 0 steals or blocks.

Gino doesn't qualify for his Game 3.

The actual best Game 3 was had by LeBron, who didn't shoot well but led all scorers with 25, 8 rebounds, 7 assists a handful of blocks and steals.

Due to the win, Game 3 goes to Duncan
-------------------------------------------
Game 4:

T. Duncan shot like crap again 4-15 for 12 pts, but otherwise was dominant with 15boards, 3co-led the team in assists, and led the team with 2blocks and 2steals (including picking LBJ's pocket on the perimter with under a minute to go)

T. Parker had a great shooting game going 10-14 for 24points, had 7 reb, 1 ass, 0 steals and 0 blocks

M. Ginobili had his best game of the series going 8-19 for 27 points (including every clutch play) 5 rebounds and co-led in assists with 3 and 1 steal

Since scoring is soooo important, this one was more manu's game than anyone else, 2nd to Tim and finally, to Parker.
--------------------------------------
For the series...

Duncan averaged:
18.3 points on 44% shooting to go along with 11.5boards, 3.8 assists, 1.25steals and 2.25blocks and 2.75tos

Parker averaged:
24.5 points on 56% shooting, 5reb, 3.3 ass, .75steals .00blks and 3.00to's

Looks like a Duncan MVP in a walk.

Even if Parker averages 26ppg through the series, and the Spurs win, the Finals MVP will go to Duncan. The voters won't do it any other way, nor should they, because Duncan is the Spurs and they wouldn't be here without him.

I disagree - if Parker - or anyone else - plays the best they will give the award elsewhere.

Dumars won it over Isiah. Jo Jo White (?) won it in Boston over his HoF teammates.

If TP is lucky enough to face Hughes all series, he could take the MVP home. Voters have 0 interest in giving Duncan a 4th.

Has the finals MVP ever been given to a player from the loosing team?

Jerry West was the only one. I think he averaged like 38/7/7 that series.

maybe Tim wil give it to Tony as a wedding present.

Right now Tim, Manu, and Tony are all in the running. The series is going to be short (4 maybe 5 games). Who ever goes off in two gamesor maintains this pace throughout wins it.

IF everyone plays well they go with Tim

The letters T and I are already engraved. Only way Duncan doesn't get it is if LeBron somehow steals this for Cleveland.

LeBron James.

The award was given to him before the Finals even started.

Finals was Suns/Spurs obviously. Stern was MVP, with Horry a close second. Bitter? yes.

Last year I thought the finals was Spurs/Mavs until D-Wade proved otherwise.

Be patient and enjoy the high-level of b-ball we are watching.
