He's put up good numbers on very good teams for years, like all those 50 win Grizzlies teams
of course. not doubting his ability or saying this is a fluke. i guess you took the "good stats on a bad team" quote the wrong way. Gasol was out for a while and even when he came back, the Grizzlies decided to tank. whether it was active tanking or not, the casual analyst will merely brush off Miller as "good stats on a bad team"
maybe next season he makes a bigger name for himself? after all, his biggest highlight right now is getting clotheslined by Kobe.
and the Grizzlies still do not have a playoff win... so yeah..
I dont think the "good stats on a horrible team" routine works here. We've had more than enough of these flukes in recent history, and almost always those players not only sported high scoring averages, but low shooting percentages as well. 46/40 is far from bad, actually its better than average for SG's.
Mike Miller is a smart player with good size and a great shot. even with this he's mediocre. who cares? do you see anyone jumping up and down to add him to their team? I bet Miami would love him. there are teams that could use a guy like him. but he's not anything special. 19ppg with no defense on the worst team in the league, sorry if that's not blowing me away.
the Rockets are another team that could use him. he'd do good playing with a guy like Tmac again. in fact he'd be a good 3 for any team with a superstar SG who wouldn't mind having to exert a little effort on D in exchange for some help on O. he'd be a great Laker too.
