Default 07 Mavs: Some late observations

Not at the beginning of the season (obviously), but at about the 3/4s mark of the season, I was hoping for GSW to earn the final seed and play the Mavs in Round 1! I was shocked with about 5-6 games left in the season, when Avery couldn't stomach a loss to the Spurs sans Tim Duncan (ejected!), even though the 1 seed was locked, but didn't even bother to try to beat the Warriors and keep them from the 8th seed!

Baron Davis DESTOYED Devin Harris and "the propeller" Jason Terry!

As much as I like and respect and respect Dirk (great player by todays standards, class act, etc) the Mavs team has become this group of arrogant asses, who have no right to be arrogant, because they haven't proven anything. So for the Mavs to lose as a 67 win team due to their collective pride and arrogance in overlooking GS, is simply...POETRY!

ON TOP OF THIS, NELLIE BEING SUED BY CUBAN FOR TAKING ANOTHER JOB AFTER HE WAS FIRED AND NOT PAID WHAT HE WAS DUE CONTRACTUALLY, THEN BEING BEAT BUY THE COACH WHO HE RAN OUT OF TOWN, IS BEYOND WORDS TO DESCRIBE! OUTSDIE OF DIRK, THE MAVS TRULY GOT WHAT THEY DESERVED!!!

Mavericks aren't arrogant. Maybe Cuban is and that's it. I wish the players were arrogant though, because then it would mean they'd have some kind of swagger, attitude, mean streak which they obviously don't have.

ditto. Mavs are far from arrogant. In fact, they lack confidence, especially in the face of adversity

teams take on the characteristics of their leaders....Dirk doesnt have swagger and goes onto the whole team...

Any1 who saw JET play in ATL or Stack play in Detroit new they were confident.... Josh Howard seems confident...The only person who seems to lack confidence is Dirk and it poisons the whole team...

Oh, I love subtle and unsubstantial jabs at Dirk. How'd Lebron do in the finals?

Mavs weren't arrogant at all. Saying, "We believe we can beat any team no matter what seed we are isnt 'arrogant' but is just having confidence." Why would someone say, "I think we can beat every team except so and so."

Remember you are just a fan.

I wish the Mavs had some arrogance, if they did they would be back to back defending champs right now... Because on paper they are the best team in the NBA.

Avery is arrogant.. he basically said in an interview that if he had Duncan he could win too.. so obviously he doesn't have faith in Dirk or the other Mavs..

Dirk, arrogant?

Dirks probably one of the greater guys in the league, personality wise, seems like a good dude, so you cant be talking about offcourt. And in that GS series he looked like he had the confidence of an ice cube in a volcano, so you cant be talking about oncourt. So what do you mean?

I completely disagree. John Hollinger did a statistical study that showed nowitzki had among playoffs players one of the best postseasons this year.
nowitzki is not the kind of player to force bad shots, so he was passing out of the double and triple teams. the difference between him and Duncan is that Duncan has guys who can make teams pays for doubling and tripling him, but nowitzki does not.

and the Spurs should be sending Nelson a check because they know they cannot beat Dallas in a 7 game series.

Thats bull****. They didnt win 67 games because he has nobody to knock down shots when he's doubled. Howard, Terry, and Stackhouse were the only ones keeping Dallas in most of those games vs. GS. Dirk was the one who was MIA.

At this point, there's not a team in the league that doesn't believe they can beat Dallas in a 7 game series, and they are all 100% right.

The playoffs are completely different from the regular season. I highly doubt you followed the series, because if you did, you would have known that Stackhosue was 6-24 through the first 3 games...Terry also shot well below 40% and played medicore defense. When your best player is being double and tripled teamed at times, you need to convert on it, and the other players couldn't.
I don't have any bias for or against any players. Sports are a game of matchups. Dallas had this season in the bag except for one team that for some reason plays way over their heads against dallas. Hopefully this year dallas can get to play SA again and should be able to win in 5 or 6 games. It's about matchups.

Hollinger is a jackass who does all his "studies" backwards in an attempt to purposely create and validate an opinion that goes against the grain and common sense. For example, he has a ranking system that had Nick Fazekas as the 4th best player in this draft. 4th!!

Dirk shot 38% from the field, 38%! FOr a team leader, a post player, an MVP, an all star, just a team's best player period, that is horrendous. He wasn't even the Maverick's best player that series. He got outplayed the guy who was supposed to be the Robin to his Batman.

If I'm Josh, I'm demanded Dirk be traded and get me in a better supporting cast
