The Bulls agreed to a two-year contract with free-agent forward Joe Smith, the Sun-Times has learned.
Smith was thought to be the Bulls' No. 1 priority among the available free agents.
Smith, who was the No. 1 overall pick by the Golden State Warriors in the 1995 draft, averaged 9.2 points and 6.7 rebounds in 54 games last season with the Philadelphia 76ers. While the 76ers could have offered Smith more money, the Bulls likely sold him on the fact that they are a legitimate contender in the Eastern Conference.
well he played well for us and i wanted us to resign him to a decent deal, but by no means did i want to open the bank for him. He left for the Bulls, solid veteran to have there and he is better than P.J. So i think Philly should sign Amundson back now...he's pure energy. And i also think both Herbert Hill and Byars are locks to make the team now
i hate chicago and any move that doesn't put them closer to a title i like, so i think this is great. Why chase Gasol or Garnett when you can have career underachiever Joe Smith taking minutes from your young guys. Beautiful.
You Bulls fans need to go help Paxson find his balls if you ever want to win a title.
