The west is a powerhouse consisting of big men and it didnt get any better for the east when portland drafted Greg Oden...Big men help win championships...The East have Dwight Howard and Shaq but the West have Duncan, Gasol, Oden, Garnett, Boozer, and etc.
the aforementioned reason is only a proximal result from an intrinsically root cause of faulty team management displayed by eastern conference teams
Chicago and Detroit are the only teams with management capable of constructing a succinct and well-balanced team.
Cleveland? $50 million+ for Hughes when they could have had Allen/Redd/JJ
Orlando? $120 million for Rashard Lewis
New Jersey? Clinging to the Kidd/Carter/Jefferson trio when its obviously not cutting it
Knicks? Pacers? don't even get me started
Thorn all things equal may be the best GM in that conference. He's clinging to Kidd/Carter/Jefferson, but they're playing well and he's adding good pieces around them. On paper they may have the best starting 5 in the East right now, and has created a bench the last 2 years through the draft, a developing young bench with Williams (star potential), Boone, Sean, Wright also Nachbar and Collins. I mean he also got RJ and Collins for Eddie Griffin, Kidd for Marbury (wow), Carter for Marbury and Aaron Williams.
I mean things depend on how Krstic returns from his injury, but he was a 16 and 7 player prior to it, and he got him in the last 1st round.
Good post. Most GMs in the east are r-tards. Which is why they've won it all twice since MJ left...Pistons and Heat.
I must disagree with NJ though. They've been playoff bound since Kidd arrived. Made it to the Finals twice in a row. Barring injuries, I think they are one of the better teams in the East, especially the Atlantic. VC isn't a superstar in my eyes, but he is very, very good when he wants to be. RJ is a solid starter. Krstic seemed to be coming along nicely, but he got crushed by an injury last year.
NJ should have traded Kidd for Odom and Bynum! :
Just joking! But that would be a ... weird team.
PG = Vince Carter?????
SG = RJ???
SF = Odom??
PF = Krstic?
C = Bynum???????
I dunno! Weird. Lots of potential, but just...very strange.
Note: All the ?s are there because I have no clue what lineup the Nets would sport if the Kidd for Odom/Bynum trade went down!
