I've heard many people say derek fisher is now on the lakers, but last I heard (which was probably a month ago) derek fisher was released from his utah Jazz contract to spend time at home and focus on his daughters illness.
Utah supported him on that. He didn't do anything sneaky (like Utah's own Boozer). Fisher expressed that he wanted to leave to go play for a team that is located near hospitals that can treat his daughter.
He headed back to LA for his daughter's well being. Los Angeles does have better health care than Salt Lake City. At least Fisher was honest about the whole thing, unlike Boozer who pretty much says "I'll stay here in Cleveland" and then bolts for Utah faster than you can say slam dunk.
Fish is top notch is character department. It wasn't just health care in general he was looking for. He needed specialists that can deal with that rare form of cancer his daughter has. He considered New York, Memphis, LA, and several other NBA towns that he could get the care for her and not have to leave town to do it.
