Default Phoenix Suns window is closing

Suns are looking at a 1st round/2nd round exit this year. Trading away Kurt Thomas(the only big that knew how to play defense on their team) and adding the decrepit Grant Hill didn't improve their team. To make matters worse they turned down a chance to trade Amare for Garnett. That stupid decision is going to haunt them for years to come when the Suns fall back into lottery a few years down the line...and it's all because Stoudewhiner is overrated to hell.

Amare's one of worst defensive big men in the league. Teams average 44.0 ppg (worst in the league) in the paint against the Suns on .493 shooting. That's terrible.

As a result, every decent big man seems to go off on Phoenix:

Al Jefferson: 32 pts, 20 rebs, 2 asts, 4 stls, 1 blk on 50% shooting

Bynum: 28 pts, 12 rebs, 4 asts, 2 blks on 85% shooting

Duncan: 36 pts, 17 rebs, 3 asts, 1 blk on 60% shooting

Dirk: 31 pts, 9 rebs, 2 asts, 2 blks on 50% shooting

Yao: 31 pts, 13 rebs, 1 ast, 2 blks on 63% shooting

Dwight: 30 pts, 23 rebs, 1 ast, 2 blks on 68% shooting

I see an easy sweep for the Lakers if they play Phoenix in the playoffs this year. The overrated/overhyped Suns are dying and it's all because they don't bother to play defense.

A couple of reasons for this... The first is that Phoenix's frontcourt is undersized. Amare should probably be at the 4. He doesn't really have much help under the basket and he picks up fouls very quickly. Phoenix needs another defensive big.

Also, because Phoenix plays at such a fast pace, teams are able to score on them with the running game. Phoenix's strength is that they are able to outscore most teams in the league. Unfortunately, the style of play doesn't lend itself to great defense. I believe Phoenix is number 1 in the league in points scored in the paint and number 2 in the league in percentage shot in the paint.

The Suns window CLOSED when David J. Stern decided to rig the playoff series last season and hand the Spurs their 4th title.

Too bad because the Cavs might have had a shot to win ONE game against the Suns. Sucks for Cavs fans I guess.

it is tough to improve your team when you sign a scrub (Diaw) to a huge deal and then sell first rounders for cash to stay under the luxury tax.
