"The Suns took another step toward completing their summer business Thursday by signing guard Leandro Barbosa to a five-year, $32 million contract extension according to NBA sources familiar with the negotiations," writes Jerry Brown of the EAST VALLEY TRIBUNE. "Barbosa, 23, will be in Phoenix for a press conference today before rejoining the Brazilian National Team and its preparations for the upcoming World Basketball Championships." http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/index.php?sty=70954
I am very happy with this extension, after all Leandro is one of my favorite players.
BTW: This is the kind of money that Kyle Korver and Jerome James are getting . I think the deal is fair.
What kind of money do you think Diaw is worth? I hope they extend his contract before the season starts.... his value can skyrocket during 2006/2007 season .

I say 5yrs -- 40 mill.$
I actually wouldn't mind that. Diaw is worth more than Barbosa and he got 32$ to 33$ million for 5 years. I also agree with signing Diaw before the season starts. Phoenix will save some money if they do that. Also in 2 to 3 years how good do you think Diaw will be? I think he is going to be great so signing him now for that much money is actually a good idea.

Good news for Suns fans. LB is quick and good at cutting to the basket. When he was chosen he was supposed to be a PG, but now with Nash, he can play any position because if hes open he knows that Nash will give him the ball. LB was a big part of helping the Suns get to the conference finals last season.

The guy has talent. I'm anxious to see how much he develops over these next few seasons.
The Suns did well in resigning Barbosa. He probably could have gotten a larger contract somewhere else. The truth is he's a perfect fit on the Suns. With him, Nash and Banks, the Suns have the fastest backcourt in the league. Signing Banks will also allow Barbosa to play more shooting guard, so look for his points to increase. The only guy left for Pheonix to resign is Diaw. Once they do, pencil them in for contenders every year for a while.
