Question Signing of Walter Hermann

I've been wondering why Mel hasn't accepted the Cats qualifying offer and now that Walter Hermann has been signed I thought --oops--. But perhaps Mel had a stragegy. Mel can now accept the Cats offer for a one year contract, play his fanny off and once he's an unrestricted free agent next year he may expect to be picked up by another team for more moolah. Through all of this, though. Jumaine Jones name has barely been mentioned. Has he had any offers from anyone or will he just fade into the sunset? I actually enjoyed watching him play and he did contribute to the team.
Any thoughts?

I don't think Hermann has signed just yet. I've looked all through ESPN, SI and such and can only find where he has been offered the contract. I also hadn't heard about Melvin getting an offer. I had really hoped Jones would also come back because he was a good player.

Cool Walter Hermann

According to an article by Rick Bonnell in yesterday's edition of The Charlotte Observer, Bonnell says that Hermann will be signed once he passes his physical exam. That will make a roster of 15 and come the beginning of the season a team can only have a 15-player roster. It has been stated in various places that the Bobcats made a qualifying offer for Mel early on; perhaps Mel has been waiting for a better offer that just hasn't come but he may be pushed to the wire right now to make a decision of some sort.

Oh ok, and now the Cats site is reporting that Hermann has indeed signed. I guess this will be our 15 guys right here:

1. Alan Anderson
2. Primoz Brezec
3. Kevin Burleson
4. Matt Carroll
5. Raymond Felton
6. Othella Harrington
7. Walter Hermann
8. Ryan Hollins
9. Brevin Knight
10. Sean May
11. Adam Morrison
12. Emeka Okafor
13. Bernard Robinson
14. Jake Voskuhl
15. Gerald Wallace

I guess Ely won't resign and will take an offer from another team. I'll post the article on the two signings.

Unhappy

What teams still have room on their rosters and would Mel be a good fit for any of them? There seem to be so many more known quantities among the other still-unsigned free agents .

I hope to see him on the Wizards or the Spurs. Rasual Butler is horrible. He cant play defense. Melvin Ely can block shots once in a while too. He'd be a good fit with the Wizards or the Spurs.
