Unhappy Complete Failure

Since we know that the new US national team is already a complete failure, which 12-man lineup do you think will or should be sent to Japan for the 2006 World Championships?

I think the 12-man lineup SHOULD be:

C-Brad Miller
C-Dwight Howard
PF-Chris Bosh
PF-Elton Brand
SF-Shane Battier
SF-Shawn Marion
SF-Joe Johnson
SG-Lebron James
SG-Kobe Bryant
SG-Gilbert Arenas
PG-Chris Paul
PG-Luke Ridnour

Obviously, our like of size is a great drawback. Amare's not fit for playing this year, and Antawn Jamison is our only other big man while we've committed every other big man on our roster.

Also, the lack of Michael Redd and Chauncey Billups really hurts us this year, so perhaps Luke and Joe will help the lack of outside shooting. (doubtful)

I think that Amare will be ready. He's just beginning the last and most important phase of rehabilitation. The rust will wear off quickly, plus he'll be excited to play after missing the year.

I don't know, he would be pretty useless if the refs didn't allow him to do what he does in the NBA.

Talented, yes.

But very inexpierienced. Shane (2 competitions) and Bosh(1 competition) last played for USA in college for far less prestigious events. Only Elton has any true international experience...Dwight is completely raw. I predict he'll turn out to be a slightly better Ben Wallace that played in the 2002 World Championships disaster.

No way, he will set the new world record for fouling out the quickest in any international competition. Honestly, his dirty tricks and lack of talent will get him trashed by the refs. He's also a completely one dimensional player who cannot do anything other than spot up for a wide open three.

Nah, Dwight's game is much more suited for this style of game then Ben's is... Dwight will perform much better...

Shane, and to a lesser degree CB4, are smart enough to adjust very quickly though, these are not dumb players

Mmmmmm doubtful. Both get most of their points on dunks, putbacks, etc. Not very good post players, and both completely lack a midrange game. Granted, Dwight's probably a smarter player than ben, but still....

You do realize michael Redd is not playing in the WC because he already got excused by Jerry Colangelo. I think he's getting married.

I don't think 2 weeks of practice will overcome an entire year of not playing + serious knee surgery
