Default INT's Official 2008 NBA Mock Draft

Quote:
1.Chicago Bulls-PG Derrick Rose
Chicago could go for Michael Beasley but adding him would not give them the post threat they are looking for because Beasley will not be in the post in the NBA like he was at Kansas State where he played Center,Beasley plays better as a face-up big man.Chicago also still has Tyrus Thomas a former #2 pick in 2006 and Joakim Noah at the 4 along with Andres Nocioni.Derrick Rose is a hometown Chicago product and can run the court extremely well leading the fast break,Rose immediately will start at PG allowing Kirk Hinrich to play more at SG which would certainly mean the end for Ben Gordon in Chicago.

2.Miami Heat-PF Michael Beasley
Michael Beasley now would be the definite selection for Miami with Rose off the board,Beasley can play SF or PF for Miami but by drafting Beasley they will have to figure out which position he'd be better at with Shawn Marion in the mix, unless they can work out a trade to deal Marion.

3.Minnesota T'Wolves-C Brook Lopez
Brook Lopez is the best overall C prospect in the NBA Draft although he doesn't have the ceiling that other C's have he will contribute immediately at the 5 next to Al Jefferson.Lopez does not run the court well and he will surely have a problem rebounding in the NBA but with Al Jefferson's ability to clean the boards(11.1 RPG),he doesn't have to focus on it.

4.Seattle Sonics-PG Jerryd Bayless
Seattle is in rebuilding mode and if they are sold enough on Michael Beasley,Seattle does have some young talent and draft picks to make an offer to Miami or Chicago to move up and select him. However if Seattle stays at #4 they'll more than likely go for Jerryd Bayless who can imediately come in and replace Damien Wilkins at the 2,while being able to play minutes at PG as well.

5.Memphis Grizzlies-C DeAndre Jordan
Memphis like Seattle is in a rebuilding mode but the next step of rebuilding has to come in the front court, with there not being a PF worthy of being drafted this high they'll likely go for DeAndre Jordan who has the potential and ability to play for Ivaroni. With Memphis slowing the ball down a little to focus more on defense,Jordan is the perfect fit since what he lacks now in a varied offensive game he makes up for with his length and shot blocking ability on defense.

6.New York Knicks-SF Danilo Gallinari
Knicks fans will definetly not like this pick, but Danillo is perfect for D'Antoni's style of play.Danillo is often compared to a young Toni Kukoc, and his ability to handle the ball as a Point Foward along with his versatility to play up to 4 positions along with his high basketball IQ for his age will give D'Antoni memories of his beloved Boris Diaw in Phoenix.Danillo also has a connection to D'Antoni in that his father played with D'Antoni in Europe.

7.Los Angeles Clippers-SG O.J. Mayo
The Clippers would love for O.J. Mayo to be here at #7 and this would immediately make them a real contender in the Western Conference since O.J. would thrive on the stage of playing in Los Angeles although for the Clippers instead of the Lakers. This would make for an interesting match-up 4 times a year between O.J. and Kobe, with O.J. having the determination and superstar mentality to go at Kobe the entire game.

8.Milwaukee Bucks-PF Darrell Arthur
Milwaukee is in a tough situation here at #8 because they do not have a need in their backcourt with Mo Williams and Michael Redd still in their prime however under a new coach they should play better next season.Milwaukee should go for Darrell Arthur here at #8 for the fact that he can play PF along with playind good all around defense.Drafting Darrell Arthur can allow Yi and Charlie V to play the 3 more which is a more natural position for both of their games.

9.Charlotte Bobcats-SG Russell Westbrook
Charlotte's entire basketball team is made up of primarily lottery picks and each draft you have to wonder when this team will finally get it and mesh together to make the Playoffs.Charlotte will likely go for Russell Westbrook here for the fact that they are shopping Jason Richardson and that Westbrook is able to play either PG as a reserve for Felton or at SG.Westbrook also provides the defensive awareness that Larry Brown loves and could split time providing defense at the 2 while Adam Morrison provides the offense.

10.New Jersey Nets-SG Eric Gordon
New Jersey can draft for the best player available with Eric Gordon falling to #10 it would definetly help in their attempts to possibly work out a trade to acquire an upgrade in the front court at either position due to Gordon's value. If New Jersey keeps Eric Gordon he could possibly develop into the good 6th man that many think he will become in the NBA.

11.Indiana Pacers-SF Anthony Randolph
This will be the first pick that may be the biggest surprise of the Draft with many other good players still on the board.Indiana goes with Anthony Randolph for the reasoning that he could possibly develop into a great PF in the mold of Chris Bosh with weight training and individual coaching,Randolph is also a good ballhandler for his size which draws comparisons to Lamar Odom but due to him being 18 he'll have the time to develop.

12.Sacramento Kings-SF Donte Greene
Donte Greene may be considered a reach here at #12 but Sacramento is in the need of a versatile big man with range.Donte Greene gets comparisons to Rashard Lewis, but he possesses more athleticism than Lewis.Donte needs to develop more toughness but at some point he could be playing the 4 in the NBA,he will definetly be able to contribute at the 3 or 4 next season on the perimeter for Sacramento, creating space to allow Brad Miller one on one matchups in the post.

13.Portland Trailblazers-PF Kevin Love
This pick is a no brainer,Kevin Love is a local product having played his high school basketball in Lake Oswego.Kevin Love would immediately add to the depth of Portland's front court with Aldridge and Oden as starters, but could get more playing time than usual for a big man off the bench in order for Portland to limit the wear and tear on Oden as a rookie by playing him between 25-28 MPG next season.

14.Golden State Warriors-C Kosta Koufos
Golden State shouldn't be picking in the lottery but since they are they'll likely either trade down or look to draft Kosta Koufos who provides versatility at C.Koufos is a C with a Euro feel to him and can knock down 18 footers with consistency along with picking up a block or two on defense.Drafting Koufos could make Brandan Wright expendable during the draft since he still has some value due to his potential and athleticism.

15.Phoenix Suns-C Marreese Speights
Phoenix could possibly trades this pick in an attempt to move the D'Antoni leftover Boris Diaw and his salary to free up some cap space. If Phoenix remains at #15 they'll look for a young big man who can run the court well and serve as a back-up to Shaq and Amare.Speights had a good season filling in for Al Horford but Speights has more potential given that he has a better all around skill set but he needs more time to put everything together.

16.Philadelphia 76ers-PG DJ Augustin
DJ Augustin might be surprised to see himself fall this low because he seems more ready to contribute to a NBA team than Derrick Rose at PG.Augustin would be able to fill in as a successor to Andre Miller who's entering the final year of his contract and allow Louis Williams to focus more on being a 2 than playing PG,with the idea maybe of playing Iggy at the 3.Philadelphia will surely upgrade their front court this offseason allowing them to bring in a player who will provide in the long term.

17.Toronto Raptors-C JaVale McGee
JaVale McGee falls into the lap of the Raptors at #17 but this scenario may not play out this way and Toronto could very possibly move into the top 10 for Danilo Gallinari allowing Brian Colangelo more time before having to admit that Bargnani wasn't the right pick for Toronto. However if Toronto doesn't move up they can go for McGee who can provide some range and athleticism at C that they aren't getting from Rasho.

18.Washington Wizards-SG Nicolas Batum
Washington gets lucky with Batum falling to them at #18,but Batum could easily be used as trade bait along with Andray Blatche to maybe acquire a legit starting C who can become the defensive presence they need in the post.If Washington keeps Batum they can allow him to play another year or two overseas to devlop his talent so when he comes over he can make an immediate impact.

19.Cleveland Cavaliers-PF Jason Thompson
Jason Thompson had the best individual season among any PF available in this years draft and not only did he average identical numbers as a Junior but he improved them as a Senior.Thompson is the kind of PF LeBron needs in Cleveland instead of the rotation between defense(Ben Wallace) and offense(Joe Smith).Thompson down the road could be viewed as the steal of the draft if his game projects well to the NBA although coming from a mid major school.

Next.

Default Re: INT's Official 2008 NBA Mock Draft

Quote:
20.Denver Nuggets-C Robin Lopez
If Denver is looking to trade their C Marcus Camby they should look to bring in a young replacement to avoid having to play Kenyon Martin or Nene out of position.Robin Lopez can run the court better than his brother and he can provide shot blocking immediately for Denver to partially replace Camby's output.

21.New Jersey Nets-SF Joe Alexander
New Jersey yet again can go for the best player available, but Joe Alexander would more than likely be a better fit for New Jersey.Alexander could play minutes at either the 3 or the 4,primarily the 4 in an attempt to create mismatches on offense.Alexander has a great post-up game and can hit a turnaround jumper, but his determination on both sides of the court will help him in the NBA as a hustle player.

22.Orlando Magic-SG Brandon Rush
Brandon Rush is definetly right behind O.J. Mayo when it comes to NBA ready players.Rush has lottery pick talent but he isn't viewed as a lottery pick due the fact that he's going to be 23 in July and that his ceiling isn't viewed as being as high as it was when he was in HS although also older than his competition.Rush projects to immediately be a starter in the NBA although he does have great physical talent he doesn't have the mentality to become a star player. In Orlando,Rush could solidify the 2 which was Orlando's weakness throughout the season and be able to provide favorable matchups for Orlando.

23.Utah Jazz-C Nikola Pekovic
Pekovic is the typical prototype player for the Utah Jazz,European and Caucasian which works in his favor that he's both.Nikola Pekovic is viewed for the most part as the best young C in Europe and his stats show he was great in the Euroleague.Pekovic has the frame that suggests he is strong and can provide defense in the post, which is what Utah needs if they're going to win a Championship.

24.Seattle Sonics-SG J.R. Giddens
J.R. Giddens has been extremely overlooked for the season who finished at New Mexico, where he averaged 16/8/3.Seattle could possibly package this pick to move up in the draft but if they remain at #26 they'll probably look to bring in another guard.Giddens could possibly start over Bayless at SG due to his size, but its more likely he'll start immediately due to his good size, athleticism, basketball IQ,and his ability to play good defense.

25.Houston Rockets-C Alexis Ajinca
Alexis Ajinca could be the most intriguing pick of the 1st Round due to his age along with his athleticism and the potential for him to improve his game in the NBA.Ajinca could either remain in Europe to develop or come over to the United States and probably spend most of the season in the D-League getting experience against American players.

26.San Antonio Spurs-C Roy Hibbert
This would be the ideal location for Roy Hibbert to land at,and ironically he's very likely to be available in the late 1st Round.Hibbert is the most NBA ready of any C in the Draft but he has the lowest ceiling among any C in the Draft.Hibbert is a 7 footer with a high basketball IQ,great hands,a good hook shot, and can block shots on the defensive end.Hibbert would provide some youth to San Antonio's aging front court and would surely be the starting C heading into next season.

27.New Orleans Hornets-SG Chris Douglas-Roberts
Chris Douglas-Roberts was the key to Memphis' success last season and was the main reason they went as far as they did.CDR can run the court well and has the ballhandling ability to drive to the basket and score but in New Orleans the question would be how well he plays off the ball with Chris Paul as the primary ballhandler in New Orleans.Another question would be if he can be a good spot-up shooter in the NBA.

28.Memphis Grizzlies-SG Lester Hudson
Memphis should go for Lester Hudson with this pick for the reason that its unlikely JCN will re-sign with Memphis and that Mike Miller is on the trading block this offseason.Lester Hudson is the scoring guard that the Grizzlies need and the fact he is a combo guard who can play some PG also helps, but he needs to cut down on his 3-PT shooting.Another dynamic to Hudson is that he was a dominate perimeter player in college racking up 2.8 SPG which is something Memphis surely needs next season and that he also is a local product having been born and raised in Memphis.

29.Detroit Pistons-C DeVon Hardin
Detroit has been fine without Ben Wallace, having reached 2 consecutive EC Finals without him,but Detroit could use a younger guy who could push Antonio McDyess for playing time or ultimately replace him in DeVon Hardin.Hardin appeared to be a sure-fire lottery pick heading into the season but as Ryan Anderson emerged he began to become more of just a typical C with size in the middle.Hardin however didn't play the minutes you would expect last season, but if he can cut back on his fouls and work on his conditioning he could be a solid starter in the NBA.

30.Boston Celtics-PG Mario Chalmers
Mario Chalmers is coming off of a great career at Kansas topped off with a National Championship last season but due to his inability to reach that next level most would expect he would after his Freshman season he didn't improve much execept his experience made him a smarter player.Chalmers has a solid offensive game and he is also good on the perimeter and could be what Boston thought Sam Cassell would do when they signed him this season.
Note: Chase Budinger is not included in this Mock because among the Lock's for 1st Round picks is the only one who's still on the fence of whether to return to college.

Bayless is too small to play the 2 in the west. He's a point guard.

Just read this:

No way OJ slips to 7. If he falls to the Knicks, they will definitely take him although I think the T'wolves will draft him. And what do you mean "immediately make them a real contender"??? LMAO

He's not a PG,hes a combo guard.

Seriously among all of the lottery picks in this draft,Bayless will be the biggest disappointment.

Bayless should've stayed for at least another year with Brandon Jennings coming in to improve his shooting and become a good undersized SG.

He's going to be a tweener his entire career, when you think Jerryd Bayless next season think Dajuan Wagner(rookie season).A player who can handle the ball but isn't a PG and a player who can hit a jumpshot but isn't a SG.

Why would the T'Wolves draft O.J. Mayo?

You do realize Rashad McCants is a SG,and Randy Foye plays both PG or SG.

There is no reason they should draft O.J.

Los Angeles is a contender,O.J. is the star player they need to take that next step, away from the Draft Lottery.

Bayless and Chris Douglas Roberts will be the two steals of the draft. Bayless playmakings skills are underrated and add in the fact that he's a shooter and you got yourself a dangerous player.

Foye is 6'3 220,and what he lacks in height he makes up for in his toughness and work ethic.

McCants in inconsistent,he will be the 6th man next season since he only started because Foye missed the start of the season due to injury.

Who are you?

Why would Seattle draft a C when they've drafted 3 in the last 4 years?

Stephen Curry being drafted anywhere before pick #30 will be a major reach.

Bayless can't be a steal where he's projected to be drafted.

CDR was a one trick pony in college and most likely he won't even be able to get in the lane to make awkward looking shots in the NBA.

I can't see Indy taking Randolph over Love and Augustin. Especially Augustin, if he's there I think he's the pick. They already have their athletic 3 they're trying to mold into a 4 in Shawne Williams. Great job though, don't usually get an analysis of each pick, and you can't ask someone to know the ins and outs of every roster.

I could see Minnesota taking Mayo as well. I think he's going to be a great pro, second best guard after Rose.

Since when does taking your team further in the tourney = better player. This is the NBA, Bayless is the better player and the better prospect. Bayless had to deal with a moron coach and others who didnt even show up in the tourney.
