Default Raps Qualify Delfino & Calderon

Quote:
The Toronto Raptors extended qualifying offers to restricted free agents Jose Calderon and Carlos Delfino on Friday.

The move allows the Raptors to retain their right to match any offers the guards receive from other teams when free agency opens in July.

Well I don't think much of Delfino but he can be an average backup SG in the event that we get an upgrade at the starting position.

I am actually a fan of Delfino.... I think he had a break-out kind of season last year. He plays hard on defence, shoots the ball well, and can relief PGs at times... his downside is shot selection.. and not driving to the hoop frequent enuf (but who's not?)

One last point, he doesn't complain abt comin' off the bench!

Only problem I have with Delfino is his constant chucking. He's a pretty decent slasher and he can get to the line a lot if he tried. Lets hope he improves next season.

I am not at all happy about the Delfino part. We can't spend the $3-$4 mill for mediocre players anymore which is what I assume his final price tag will be. If it's less, then that's fine.

100% agree.

Enough of the depth, get some talent.

Nothing wrong with this move. It does not mean we keep Delphino, it just mean we reserve the right to use his contract to facilitate a trade elsewhere. And if their are no takers for Delphino, we make a very small offer, one which he turns down. Good move I think.

I can understand the delfino decision, we need players, and he can be moved easily with a sign and trade possibly receiving a decent two way player in return
its just an extra options, why not keep all options open
