this is the last good season for a while.

after this season theres gonna be 9 free agents including boozer, williams, millsap, price, and maybe okur and korver.

maybe boozer can come over to the clippers

None of those guys are going anywhere.

And even if one does, it won't be to the Clippers.

Someone's going somewhere it's inevitable. Clippers could certainly use Brewer's length.

If Brewer goes, which he might after showcasing his talent, we have Almond in the wings.

Almond hasn't proven anything at the NBA level though and what he has shown in the D-league is as a scorer. Jazz have plenty of them including Brewer who also plays D. Almond too could be gone. It's possible that the Jazz don't pick up his contract for 2009-10 and he becomes an unrestricted FA as well next off-season.

There is almost no way that all of them stay due to salary obligations. If we trade AK for cap relief maybe. All of the guys you listed are being paid under their current value with the possible exception of Korver. I'd love to keep them all but I doubt it happens.

Ridiculous. There is no way Utah doesn't pick up the peanuts team option of a player like Almond.

Sure there is with what they've got ahead of them next year. If he doesn't show improvement in the summer league he could be gone like Snyder. There's no guarantees. Jazz will be looking for minimum salary guys in the future to fill the bottom of their roster and Almond makes more than that as a 1st rounder and right now he's at the bottom of the roster.

Luigi is right on this one, that is nothing for the talent that he shows. They pick up Almond's option. Especially for what they have to pay for a two guard like Korver, almond will be less than half of Korver's salary.

A lot for a D-leaguer.

And there's guys that could make half of Almond's salary too.

Reasons to maintian Morris Almond.

1. Almond had the character necessary to succeed in Utah. Grew up in a military home, I don't think Sloan's demeanor will get to him
2. Almond spent a lot of time on the bench in college until he learned the system, then flourished. This is a lesson Stevenson and the likes didn't know when they came to Utah.
3. He is still under contract for next year at 1,081,440. Utah can choose to bring him back for 1,156,920 and back again for 2,083,612. Having a serviceable two guard available for the next 3 years at that salary is a huge benefit. You never know when Korver, Brewer of Miles may be lured away or packaged in a trade. Not to extend that option would be akin to a NY or Memphis front office decision.
4. He was the top scorer in the DL. That says something.

SOrry Xaio, you are way off on that one.

Have the Jazz learned the lesson of patience? Deshawn and other former Jazzmen have had success after the Jazz gave up on them.

Which could be a lot of money after they take care of everyone else. Minimum wage is a lot less than that. 3 and 4 year minimums are less than that. Veteran minimum is less than that. Again will they have that much to spend on the guy?

It's still a question as to rather he is servicable.

No you don't but Almond would be the guy I'd be looking to trade or dump before any of them.

Hard to say. If they don't extend the option and he never plays in the NBA again it looks like a great move. If they extend it and he never amounts to much it looks like a big waste.

It says that he's a borderline NBA player.

Way off on what? That there's no guarantees in the NBA? That there's always younger players ready to take your job for less money?

The only reason he played in the D league is because the Jazz are so deep at the 2/3 spot and that was the best way for him to develop. Send him to an OKC, Memphis, etc and he sees some real minutes in the league. From what I've seen he looks good. Luigi is right we need to be able to package some young guard talent for possible trades

They weren't deep when the season started that's why the drafted him.

He said we should keep him to play. I said I'd be looking to trade him.
