Perhaps I'm naive, but I hope that the Cats don't have just one stand-out representing the team. The team was supposedly to be built around Okafor and how much has he even played in the past couple of seasons......In fact, if he doesn't contribute substantially to this coming season then I'd just as soon see him traded.
I think that the character of the Cats is such that, while acknowledging the skills of individual players and the energizing ability of the team co-captains, I would hope that the team will be touted over any specific player.
I agree on the Okafor part. A lot of people had very high expectations over him and now no one really sees him as the franchise player he was supposed to be. I hope that Felton and Morrison become the big standout superstars on the team. I still hope that guys like May, Wallace and Knight continue to improve as well. Wallace and Knight need to be the veteran leaders on this team.
Wallace and Knight need to be the veteran leaders on this team.
Well, I think that's why they are the team co-captains. And I think that so far they have been respected as such. And I hope that their ability to motivate the other players continues.
Who knows what will be perhaps five years from now. Morrison needs time to mature not only as a player but as a person. It takes time to develop maturity and earn respect.
Hey, in 04-05, it was Mostly Okafor and Wallace that was the heart of the team. Now, after being injured for most of the season, U guys are ready to dump on him. I mean He will do great, but the rest of the team IMO needs to step it up.
I think that Felton will become the leader of this team. Morrison will be the go to guy IMO but I don't really see him as a leader. A guy who leads by example. Felton I see as the vocal leader of this team down the road.
OOoooohhhhhhh.....I completely read this thread wrong. When he said 'leader' I thought he was referring to statistically. In that case, yes, Knight is currently the leader along with Felton.
In talking about the 'leader' my response referred to the co-captains who are, at least in my mind, the leaders of the team. (Wallace and Knight). If one is talking about leader in the sense of points scoring, movement and physicality on the court, then perhaps some of the younger guys would fit that definition.
But true leadership is a quality that develops over time.
