You’re not wrong there’s a high chance they don’t win one title in those years. However the narrative with gs is the core there won a title before durant got there and one after so they didn’t need him.

if all we do is trade buckets, would the fact that I'm a much better shooter given the same amount of effort and be rewarded with a 3 instead of a 2 make me the MVP? sure, only a basketball weighs 22oz, and when you have to play 36 min running up and down 94 feet. you leave a lot of room for others to surpass you in the MVP race just by sheer...

Yeah I mean people gotta relax with comparing Ant Man to MJ.
People forget, the league figured out MJ. Thats why he retired in 93 when he saw ‘Keem had a squad. He let the Bulls stack up again then came back for a quick run while they were back ahead of the talent curve, but once he saw Iverson and Kobe and them boys flooding the league, he...

What did Palestine do for you to get on your knees for them?
Israel is closest to the United States in terms of their government structure out of all those countries in the Middle East. Plus, we have the same enemies. So yeah, that meme is just retarded.

The Warriors were almost a dynasty without him, though, and winning “only one” championship was no inconsiderable feat in itself.
If anything, them losing in the 2016 Finals in that fashion reinforces that first point. Sure, it’s always inglorious to lose a 3-1 lead, but getting that close to repeating helps prove they were already a...

This seems like a strawman. If anything, the vast majority overvalue offense more than defense in their criteria.
The award’s historically narrative-driven (at least since the media started voting for it), and gaudy stats—which are much easier to get as a pure offensive force than as a one-dimensional defender—add to that appeal. Prime James...

Even if they score 200ppg on 70% shooting?
Some people act like the floor is being elite. Personally, if there was to be a floor, I would put it at average. If they are so ridiculous on offense, as our theoretical 200ppg player, I would disregard defense entirely. Let the other 4 players pick up the slack.
Ben Wallace was a defense-only...

Donovan has to put a 50 piece every game if they want even a chance to win any of these. All Celtics do is shoot 3s or spam layups. No strategy, but hey that’s what modern officiating for you.

No.
But there is a certain floor. A floor of acceptability for how poorly someone can play on defense, and how frequently they play that poorly.

Most NBA teams treat coaches like primitive tribes treated chiefs who were unable to make it rain. The main difference is that getting paid millions for not working stings a lot less than getting killed and eaten.

Just looked up Luka's stats.
As before this game, Luka has a career playoff low in turnovers, despite playing 42 mpg.
Critics miss a lot of Luka's improvement. He's also been a legit defender these playoffs. In no way has he been a turnstile like in previous years.
Still only 24 years old, that's pretty crazy. Every year Luka improves....

There’s a lot more to defense than blocks and steals.
Everyone makes up their own criteria for MVP, and that seems to change from year to year.
Most people overvalue offense. That’s why almost everyone was praising the Lillard trade to the Bucks.
For me, the question should be: Who makes the most irreplaceable contribution to...

Luka was top ten in the league in steals. But nobody that watches the games would tell you it’s because he’s anything more than an apathetic lazy defender, who even when healthy, thinks it’s enough to gamble for steals, and run his man off the 3pt line, then watch them drive to the bucket, on over half his defensive possessions where his man gets...
