It remains to be seen if guard Dion Waiters will be in the Miami Heat rotation going forward.

His 10 game suspension is over, but the Heat elected not to activate him for today’s afternoon game against the Nets in Brooklyn.

Per the South Florida Sun Sentinel:

With 16 players under contract, including Chris Silva and Daryl Macon on two-way deals, the Heat had to designate three as inactive an hour before Sunday’s opening tip.

The first two decisions were apparent, with Macon in transit pregame after a G League assignment with the Sioux Falls Skyforce and second-round pick KZ Okpala missing his 16th consecutive game with a strained left Achilles.

But with forward Derrick Jones Jr. active for the first time in 11 games after being out with a strained left hip, it left Spoelstra having to designate a healthy player as inactive.

That player turned out to be Waiters, who has yet to appear in a regular-season game, with Sunday being designated as “Inactive List — Coach’s Decision.”

After today’s game in Brooklyn, the next Heat game is Tuesday in Toronto against the Raptors.
