The Chicago Bulls announced today that the team has waived guard Lindsey Hunter.
Hunter, 39, signed with Chicago as a free agent on Nov. 13, 2008. During his one-plus seasons with the Bulls, he played in 41 games and posted 2.1 ppg and 1.1 apg in 9.4 mpg.
InsideHoops.com Reaction: Hunter had a fine NBA career, though it should have ended several years ago. His career shooting average is 38.8%. He averaged 1ppg this season on 16.7% shooting. In 2008-09 he averaged 2.6 ppg on 32.9% shooting. In 2007-08 on Detroit he averaged 2.4 ppgon 34.5% shooting. His previous several seasons weren’t much better.
But he’s definitely got a future as an NBA assistant coach (and then on to a head coach, perhaps) if that’s the direction he wants to take.
We’re a fan of Hunter’s, but wish his career had wrapped up about four years ago!
Anyway, all the best.

Yo, Cat Hunter was and is outstanding basketball player. If you don’t know, he lead the NCAA in scoring from HBCU Jackson State while giving Adonis Jordan 42 and Donyel Marshall and company 39 while dismissing them from the NIT. Lottery pick in 93. Came into the league under the tutelage of Zeke and had a pretty healthy ppg average of 18-14 a game for a while. Then, had the wherewithal to transform his game from a star , to a lockdown defender who came in, shut down scorers and never complained.Oh yeah, did I mention he helped both the Lakers and Pistons win the chip? Come on fellas, show more respect for the vet who would still give y’all 40 with his eyes closed! That is, unless you are hoopers instead of bloggers…….that’s what I thought……come on Inside Hoops, I’m disappointed.
