New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Donnie Walsh announced today that forward Derrick Brown has been claimed off waivers.

Brown, 6-8, 227-pounds, holds career averages of 3.4 points on .500 shooting, 1.7 rebounds and 10.4 minutes in 98 games (one start) over two seasons with Charlotte. The Dayton, OH native is averaging 3.7 points on .549 shooting and 2.0 rebounds over 11.9 minutes in 41 games (one start) during the 2010-11 season. He was originally selected by Charlotte in the second round (40th overall) of 2009 NBA Draft after a three-year playing career at Xavier University. He was waived by the Bobcats on Feb. 24.
