Knicks waive Oscar Bellfield, John Shurna, Mychel Thompson, Henry Sims

New York Knicks Executive Vice President and General Manager Glen Grunwald announced today that the team has waived guard Oscar Bellfield, forwards John Shurna and Mychel Thompson and center Henry Sims.

Bellfield, 6-2, 190-pounds, recorded two points, two rebounds and one assist over 13 minutes in two games this preseason.

Shurna, 6-9, 220-pounds, recorded seven points and six rebounds over 43 minutes in five preseason games.

Thompson, 6-6, 205-pounds, averaged 4.7 points and 3.2 rebounds over 16.2 minutes in six preseason games (two starts).

Sims, 6-10, 245-pounds, averaged 3.2 points and 2.0 rebounds over 11.2 minutes in five preseason games (one start).

It appears the team may be keeping forward Chris Copeland.

The roster stands at 15 players.

Cavs waive Micheal Eric, Kevin Jones, D`Aundray Brown

The Cleveland Cavaliers have waived forward/center Micheal Eric, forward Kevin Jones and guard D’Aundray Brown, Cavaliers General Manager Chris Grant announced today from Cleveland Clinic Courts.

Eric played in two preseason games with the Cavs, averaging 0.5 rebounds in 3.5 minutes per game. The 6-foot-11, 240-pound forward/center from Temple University played in five games with the Cavaliers in the 2012 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas and averaged 4.0 points on .667 shooting and 3.8 rebounds in 12.6 minutes per game.

Jones,  a 6-foot-8, 250-pound forward from West Virginia University played in two preseason games with the Cavs, averaging 2.5 rebounds in 9.0 minutes per game.

Brown, signed on October 25th, played in 115 games (91 starts) at Cleveland State University, averaging 7.8 points on .487 shooting, 4.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 28.4 minutes per game.

The Cavaliers roster now stands at 15.

Lakers waive guard Andrew Goudelock

The Los Angeles Lakers have waived Andrew Goudelock, it was announced today.

Selected by the Lakers in the second round (46th overall) of the 2011 NBA Draft, Goudelock appeared in 40 games last season for the Lakers averaging 4.4 points and 0.5 assists in 10.5 minutes.  Most recently, Goudelock played in six preseason games for Los Angeles where he averaged 3.8 points and 0.8 assists in 7.7 minutes.

The 6-2 guard out of the College of Charleston played all four seasons for the Cougars, averaging 18.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 32.8 minutes.  As a senior, Goudelock averaged 23.7 points, ranking him fourth nationally among NCAA Division I scoring leaders.

The Lakers training camp roster now stands at 15 players.

Dallas Mavericks sign Chris Douglas-Roberts and Melvin Ely

The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have signed forward/center Melvin Ely and forward Chris Douglas-Roberts.

Ely (6-10, 261) was the 12th overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft.  He has played for five NBA franchises over his eight-year career (L.A. Clippers, Charlotte, San Antonio, New Orleans and Denver) and has career averages of 5.3 points and 3.3 rebounds in 16.0 minutes per game. His most recent NBA experience was in 2010-11 season where he played 30 games for the Nuggets and averaged 2.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in 12.2 minutes per game.  In 2012, he played for Brujos de Guayama in Puerto Rico.

Douglas-Roberts (6-7, 210) spent training camp with the Los Angeles Lakers where he averaged 4.0 points in 8.3 minutes in four games.  He was waived on Monday, Oct. 22.  He is a three-year pro and was originally selected by the New Jersey Nets in the second round (40th overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft. In total, he has appeared in 155 NBA games (53 starts) for the Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks and has averages of 7.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 20.6 minutes. Most recently, the 6-7 forward spent the 2011-12 season playing for Virtus Bologna of the Italian League.

The Mavericks’ roster now stands at 18 players.

OKC Thunder waive Daniel Orton, Andy Rautins, Hollis Thompson

The Oklahoma City Thunder waived center Daniel Orton, guard Andy Rautins and forward Hollis Thompson, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti.

Orton appeared in one preseason contest for the Thunder and tallied 13 points and three rebounds in 19 minutes.

Rautins saw action in four exhibition games and recorded averages of 7.0 points and 1.3 rebounds in 11.5 minutes per contest.

Thompson appeared in three preseason games for Oklahoma City and registered averages of 2.7 points and 2.0 rebounds in 9.7 minutes.

Oklahoma City’s roster now stands at 15.

Blazers waive Adam Morrison, Coby Karl, Demonte Harper, Justin Holiday, Dallas Lauderdale

The Portland Trail Blazers have requested waivers on Demonte Harper, Justin Holiday, Coby Karl, Dallas Lauderdale and Adam Morrison, it was announced today by General Manager Neil Olshey.

Karl averaged 4.8 points, 1.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 11.8 minutes in four preseason games.

Morrison posted averages of 3.2 points, 1.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 11.4 minutes in five games.

Harper logged four minutes in three games, Harper played six minutes in two contests and Lauderdale tallied six minutes in three games this preseason.

With today’s transactions, the Trail Blazers roster stands at 15 players entering the regular season.

Bucks waive Mustapha Farrakhan, Eddie Gill, Orien Greene, Alando Tucker

The Milwaukee Bucks have requested waivers on guards Mustapha Farrakhan, Eddie Gill, Orien Greene and forward Alando Tucker, General Manager John Hammond announced today.

Farrakhan (6-4, 175 – Virginia/Bakersfield Jam), Gill (6-0, 190 – Weber State/Townsville Crocodiles) and Greene (6-4, 208 – Louisiana-Lafayette/Los Angeles D-Fenders) each appeared in three preseason games, while Tucker (6-6, 205 – Wisconsin/Texas Legends) played in four preseason contests. All four players signed as free agents on October 1.

The Bucks roster now stands at 15 players.

Toronto Raptors waive Jamaal Magloire

The Toronto Raptors announced Saturday they have waived centre Jamaal Magloire.

The 12-year NBA veteran did not see any game action during the preseason. He appeared in 34 games with the Raptors last season, averaging 1.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 11.0 minutes. Magloire is the first Canadian-born player to play for the Raptors.

The roster now stands at 15. The Raptors open the 2012-13 season October 31 versus Indiana at Air Canada Centre (7 p.m. ET, TSN, Sportsnet 590 The FAN).
