Spurs exercise contract option on Dejounte Murray

The San Antonio Spurs have exercised their third-year team option on guard Dejounte Murray for the 2018-19 season.

Murray is entering his second season with the Spurs after being selected by San Antonio in the first round of the 2016 NBA Draft (29th overall). Last year in his rookie season, Murray averaged 3.4 points, 1.3 assists and 1.1 rebounds in 8.5 minutes in 38 appearances. The former Washington Husky also played in 11 playoff games, averaging 5.7 points, 2.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 15.3 minutes for the Silver and Black.

Heat convert Matt Williams Jr deal into a two-way contract

The Miami Heat have converted the contract of Matt Williams Jr. into a two-way contract.

Williams Jr., who was originally signed by the HEAT on July 24, appeared in all six preseason games with Miami and averaged 2.2 points in 6.4 minutes of action. He scored nine points on 3-of-6 shooting from three-point range in a win vs. Washington on October 11. Williams Jr. previously appeared in eight Summer League games (six starts) with the HEAT in Orlando and Las Vegas and averaged 9.9 points and 2.6 rebounds while shooting 38 percent from the field, 39 percent from three-point range and a perfect 2-of-2 from the foul line. He started all six games in Las Vegas with Miami and shot 45 percent from three-point range, leading the team in three-point field goals made four times, including a 5-of-8 performance from beyond the arc vs. Washington on July 10 and a 6-of-9 output from downtown vs. Memphis on July 15.

The University of Central Florida graduate finished his collegiate career as the school’s all-time leader in three-point field goals made (274) and became the 18th player in program history to score at least 1,000 points. He appeared in 36 games (all starts) as a senior and averaged 15.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 36.5 minutes while shooting 39.1 percent from the field, 38.4 percent from three-point range and 81.1 percent from the foul line. He set the single-season school and conference records for three-point field goals made (126) and set the Knights’ single-game three-point field goals made record after connecting on 11 against USF on January 17. He capped the season scoring the fifth-most points for a single-season in school history and earned the team’s MVP award.

Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey announced today that the team has waived forwards Daniel House, Jr. and Cam Oliver.

House was eligible for the 2016 NBA Draft following his senior season at Texas A&M and spent most of last season with Washington.

Oliver was an early entry candidate for the 2017 NBA Draft following his sophomore season at Nevada. He played for the Rockets at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

The L.A. Clippers today announced that the team has converted the contract of forward C.J. Williams to a two-way contract and waived guard Ike Iroegbu, center Marshall Plumlee and guard Tyrone Wallace.

Williams, 27, appeared in four games (one start) for the Clippers this preseason, and averaged 5.3 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 18.9 minutes. Undrafted out of North Carolina State in 2012, Williams appeared in 50 games (39 starts) for the G League’s Texas Legends, and averaged 12.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 29.3 minutes.

Iroegbu, 22, appeared in one game for the Clippers this preseason, tallying seven points (3-9 FG, 0-3 3PT, 1-2 FT), five rebounds and one assist in 17 minutes off the bench against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 13. A graduate of Washington State University, Iroegbu went undrafted in 2017.

Plumlee, 25, appeared in four games (zero starts) for the Clippers this preseason, and averaged 1.0 point and 1.0 rebound in 5.5 minutes. Undrafted out of Duke in 2016, Plumlee appeared in 21 games (one start) for the New York Knicks in his rookie year, and averaged 1.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in 8.1 minutes.

Wallace, 23, appeared in four games (one start) for the Clippers this preseason, and averaged 10.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.00 steals in 20.9 minutes. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Wallace appeared in 38 games (15 starts) for the G League’s Salt Lake City Stars last season, and averaged 14.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 27.0 minutes.

The New Orleans Pelicans have waived forwards Cliff Alexander and Perry Jones.

Alexander, 6-8, 245, appeared in all four of the Pelicans’ preseason contests, averaging 2.3 points and 3.8 rebounds in just under nine minutes per game.

Jones, 6-11, 235, appeared in three preseason games for New Orleans and averaged 3.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists in just over 15 minutes per contest.

Sixers waive Andrew Andrews, Marc Loving and James Webb

The Philadelphia 76ers have waived guard Andrew Andrews, forward Marc Loving and forward James Webb III, 76ers President of Basketball Operations Bryan Colangelo announced today.

With the move, the Sixers roster stands at 17 players, including two Two-Way players (James Michael McAdoo and Jacob Pullen) who will spend time with Philadelphia and its G League affiliate, the Delaware 87ers.

The Dallas Mavericks have waived P.J. Dozier, Jameel Warney and Maalik Wayns.

Dozier (6-6, 205) was signed on August 8, 2017. He appeared in four games (starting one) for the Mavericks this preseason and averaged 5.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in 13.2 minutes per game.

Warney (6-8, 260) was signed on October 13, 2017. He did not appear in any games for the Mavericks.

Wayns (6-2, 200) was signed on August 9, 2017. He appeared in all six games for the Mavericks during the exhibition season and averaged 4.5 points and 3.2 assists in 12.5 minutes per game.

Thunder waive Isaiah Canaan, Semaj Christon, Chris Wright and Yannis Morin

The Oklahoma City Thunder waived guards Isaiah Canaan and Semaj Christon along with center Yannis Morin and forward Chris Wright, the team’s Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti announced.

Canaan saw action in three preseason games with the Thunder and averaged 5.7 points, 2.0 assists and 1.3 rebounds in 12.8 minutes.

Christon appeared in two preseason games for Oklahoma City where he averaged 3.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in 17.0 minutes. Last season, he appeared in 64 games (one start) for the Thunder and averaged 2.9 points, 2.0 assists and 1.4 rebounds in 15.2 minutes.

Morin and Wright were originally signed on Oct. 11.
