The Philadelphia 76ers in a trade today received cash considerations from Phoenix in exchange for the player contract of forward-center Richaun Holmes.
In three NBA seasons with the 76ers, Holmes appeared in 156 games (20 starts) and averaged 7.4 points and 4.2 rebounds in 16.9 minutes per game.
Holmes was selected by Philadelphia in the second round of the 2015 NBA Draft after three seasons at Bowling Green.
The Phoenix Suns today completed two trades, one with the Philadelphia 76ers and one with the Brooklyn Nets.
From Philadelphia, the Suns acquired forward/center Richaun Holmes in exchange for cash considerations.
From Brooklyn, the Suns acquired forward Darrell Arthur in exchange for forward Jared Dudley and a protected 2021 second-round pick.
Holmes has played each of his first three NBA seasons with the 76ers, averaging 7.4 points on 54.7 percent shooting, 4.2 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in 16.9 minutes over 156 career games. This past season, the 6-10, 235-pound post player appeared in 48 games and averaged 6.5 points and 4.4 rebounds in 15.5 minutes, shooting a career-high 56.0 percent from the field. The 24-year-old had his best statistical season in 2016-17 when he averaged career highs of 9.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and 20.9 minutes while appearing in 57 games (17 starts).
Originally the 37th overall pick of the 2015 NBA Draft, Holmes holds career averages per 36 minutes of 15.8 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks; he and No. 1 pick Karl-Anthony Towns are the only players in the Class of 2015 to be averaging at least 15 points, nine boards and one block per 36 minutes. A native of Lockport, Illinois, Holmes played the final three seasons of his collegiate career at Bowling Green State University, earning MAC Defensive Player of the Year and All-MAC First Team honors in 2015.
Arthur has played nine NBA seasons, the last five with the Denver Nuggets before being dealt to the Nets on July 13. Arthur has appeared in 503 career games with Denver and the Memphis Grizzlies, averaging 6.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in 17.8 minutes.
Dudley, an 11-year NBA veteran who has played seven seasons overall with the Suns including each of the last two, departs Phoenix ranked seventh in franchise history with 543 three-point makes and fourth in franchise history with a 40.4 percent mark from three-point range. In his seven seasons with the Suns, Dudley holds averages of 8.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 468 games. Dudley appeared in 48 games this past season, averaging 3.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 14.3 minutes.

The San Antonio Spurs re-signed guard Bryn Forbes today.
Forbes last season led San Antonio in three-point percentage, hitting 39%. The second-year guard played in 80 games, averaging 6.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 19.0 minutes per outing. Forbes scored double figures in 28 contests and led the Spurs in scoring four times, tied for second-most on the team. He was one of just three Spurs players to play in at least 80 games last season.
Having originally signed with the Spurs as an undrafted free agent on July 14, 2016, Forbes has appeared in 116 career games, averaging 5.6 points and 1.1 rebounds in 15.5 minutes. Forbes was named to the 2017 All-NBA Summer League Second Team, leading all players in scoring by averaging 26.0 points in five games for the Spurs in Las Vegas.

The San Antonio Spurs signed guard Marco Belinelli today.
Belinelli, 6-5/210, previously spent two seasons with the Spurs from 2013 to 2015, helping San Antonio capture the 2014 NBA Championship. Belinelli averaged 10.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 24.0 minutes while shooting .460 (536-1,165) from the floor and .405 (212-523) from long range in 130 total games in Silver and Black.
A native of Italy, Belinelli split last season between Atlanta and Philadelphia. In 52 games with the Hawks, he averaged 11.4 points, 2.0 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 23.3 minutes. In 28 games with the 76ers, he averaged 13.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 26.3 minutes while shooting .385 (57-148) from long distance. Belinelli played in all 10 Playoff games for Philadelphia, averaging 12.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 27.3 minutes.
The 11-year veteran has appeared in 724 total games and holds career averages of 9.9 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 23.3 minutes while shooting .427 from the field and .377 from three-point range. Originally drafted by Golden State in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft (18th overall), Belinelli spent his first two NBA seasons with the Warriors. He then played with the Raptors (2009-10), Pelicans (2010-12) and Bulls (2012-13) before joining the Spurs. After his time in San Antonio, he spent one season with the Kings (2015-16) before joining the Hornets for the 2016-17 campaign.
Prior to his NBA career, Belinelli played professionally in Italy for Virtus Bologna from 2002-04 and Fortitudo Bologna from 2004-07. In 2005 at the age of 19, he was named the Italian Supercup MVP after leading his team to the league title and the Italian Cup. Belinelli has played on the Italian National Team since 2006.
The Toronto Raptors have re-signed guard Lorenzo Brown and have signed forward Chris Boucher.
Brown, 6-foot-5, 189 pounds, signed a two-way contract with the Raptors last July. He was named the 2017-18 NBA G League Most Valuable Player, averaging team highs of 18.8 points, 8.9 assists, 1.8 steals and 33.2 minutes in 32 games (all starts) for Raptors 905. He also played in 14 games with the Raptors, averaging 2.3 points, 1.1 rebounds and 9.9 minutes.
A native of Roswell, Georgia, Brown is averaging 3.1 points, 2.0 assists, 1.6 rebounds and 12.6 minutes in 77 career NBA games with Philadelphia (2013-14), Minnesota (2014-15), Phoenix (2015-16) and Toronto. He was selected 52nd overall by the Timberwolves in the 2013 NBA Draft.
Brown played three seasons at North Carolina State (2010-13) and was named Second Team All-ACC his junior year.
Boucher, 6-foot-10, 200 pounds, recently participated with the Raptors’ entry in NBA Summer League 2018 in Las Vegas, averaging 10.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.3 blocks and 20.8 minutes in four games. He shot .500 (15-for-30) from the field and .364 (4-11) from three-point range.
Boucher spent last season with the Golden State Warriors after signing a two-way contract with the club. He appeared in one game with the Warriors and averaged 11.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.1 blocks and 22.2 minutes in 20 games for the Santa Cruz Warriors, their NBA G League affiliate.
Boucher, who grew up in Montreal, Quebec, played collegiately at Oregon (2015-2017) and was named to the Pac-12 All-Defensive Team and was a Pac-12 All-Conference Honourable Mention as both a junior and senior.
The Brooklyn Nets have acquired forward Jared Dudley and a protected 2021 second round draft pick from the Phoenix Suns in exchange for forward Darrell Arthur.
Dudley has appeared in 788 career games with Phoenix, Washington, Milwaukee, the Los Angeles Clippers and Charlotte, recording averages of 8.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 23.4 minutes per game.
Arthur was acquired in a trade with the Denver Nuggets on July 13.
The Dallas Mavericks have signed second-round pick Ray Spalding.
Spalding (6-10, 215) was selected by Philadelphia with the 56th overall pick in this past year’s draft after a three-year college career at Louisville (2015-18). His draft rights were acquired by Dallas, along with the draft rights to the 60th overall pick Kostas Antetokounmpo, in exchange for the 54th overall selection Shake Milton.
As a junior in 2017-18, Spalding averaged 12.3 points (second on team), a team-high 8.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, a team-best 1.5 steals, 1.7 blocks and 27.7 minutes in 36 games (34 starts) for the Cardinals. He ranked fourth in the ACC in field goal percentage (.543), sixth in rebounding (8.7 rpg), third in offensive rebounding (3.14 orpg), 10th in steals (1.5 spg) and ninth in blocks (1.7 bpg). He was one of just two Division I players to average at least 8.5 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.5 steals in 2017-18 (Notre Dame’s Bonzie Colson). Spalding also posted 11 of his 13 career double-doubles as a junior.
The 6-10 forward played in all five games (started four) for Dallas at MGM Resorts NBA Summer League 2018 in Las Vegas, where he averaged 8.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.0 steal in 17.0 minutes.
Spalding attended Trinity High School in Louisville, Ky. He was a two-time first team all-state selection who led Trinity to a 24-6 record as a senior and a 118-21 record in his four-year career.
The Detroit Pistons hired Tim Grgurich and Micah Nori as assistant coaches today.
Grgurich, a longtime NBA veteran and highly respected assistant, most recently served as an assistant coach for Milwaukee as a member of Jason Kidd’s staff and has spent the last 27 years with a number of NBA teams including the Seattle Supersonics (1991-98), Portland Trail Blazers (1998-2001; 2004-05), Milwaukee Bucks (2001-02; 2016-18), Phoenix Suns (2002-04), Denver Nuggets (2005-10) and Dallas Mavericks (2011-16). He was honored earlier this month with the 2018 Tex Winter Assistant Coach Lifetime Impact Award by the National Basketball Coaches Association (NBCA).
Grgurich spent many years on George Karl’s staffs in Seattle, Portland and Milwaukee and also overlapped with Pistons head coach Dwane Casey when they both served under Karl’s Supersonics teams from 1994-98, including a trip to the NBA Finals in 1996. The duo also spent one season together with Rick Carlisle in Dallas (2011).
Grgurich was the lead assistant for Jerry Tarkanian at the University of Las Vegas-Nevada, preparing emerging NBA standouts such as Larry Johnson, Stacey Augmon, Greg Anthony, Armen Gilliam and Sidney Green. The Runnin’ Rebels won the 1990 NCAA Championship and made three Final Four appearances while he was part of the program.
He began his coaching career at the University of Pittsburgh, his alma matter, where he was also a three-year letterman in both basketball and baseball.
Nori joins the Pistons after spending the last three seasons as an assistant coach with the Denver Nuggets. Prior to Denver, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the Sacramento Kings. Overall, Nori has spent 20 years working in the NBA – including 15 seasons with the Toronto Raptors in various roles. He served as an assistant coach during his last four seasons with the Raptors organization and previously served as Toronto’s director of NBA scouting and as an advance scout.
A native of Middleton, OH, and multi-sport athlete, Nori was four-year starter and captain of Indiana’s baseball team that won the 1996 Big Ten Championship. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Sports Organization from Miami (OH) University.
The Lakers waived Malik Newman today.
In five Las Vegas Summer League games for the Lakers, Newman scored 3.2 points per game in 9.8 minutes.
The 6-foot-3 guard played college basketball at Kansas.
The Lakers already have point guards Lonzo Ball and Rajon Rondo on the roster.
Center/forward Channing Frye is back on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Frye (6-11, 255) split last season between Cleveland and the Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 5.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in 13.1 minutes per game over 53 games (one start). He owns career averages of 9.0 points and 4.6 rebounds while shooting .387 from three-point range in 22.8 minutes per game through 854 contests (439 starts) with New York, Portland, Phoenix, Orlando, Cleveland and the Lakers.
Frye previously played with Cleveland from parts of 2015-16 through 2017-18, and was a member of Cleveland’s 2016 NBA Championship winning team. With the Cavs, he has appeared in 144 games (19 starts), averaging 7.5 points and 3.4 rebounds in 16.6 minutes per contest.
The 12-year NBA veteran has competed in 49 playoff games with Portland, Phoenix and Cleveland, averaging 7.0 points and 3.2 rebounds while shooting .444 from beyond the arc in 17.6 minutes per game. With Cleveland during the 2016 and 2017 Playoffs, he played in 29 games, holding averages of 7.0 points and 2.2 rebounds while shooting .558 from the field, .541 from deep and .857 from the free throw line in 13.5 minutes per game. His .541 three-point percentage is the highest in Cavaliers playoff history (minimum 50 attempts).
The 6-11 forward, who hails from White Plains, New York, and played collegiately at Arizona, was originally selected by the New York Knicks with the eighth overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft. He earned First Team All-Rookie honors in 2005-06.
