Injury update on Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo

The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the following injury update on guard Donte DiVincenzo, who suffered a right lower leg injury on Saturday, April 25 in the first quarter of Game 3 against the Denver Nuggets:

An MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), conducted by Dr. Craig Bennett at Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine on DiVincenzo, revealed a ruptured right Achilles tendon, and he will undergo surgery this afternoon in New York by Dr. Martin O’Malley of the Hospital for Special Surgery, in collaboration with Timberwolves.

Per the St. Paul Pioneer Press, “DiVincenzo attempted to chase down the rebound off his own missed shot fewer than two minutes into the Timberwolves’ 112-96 victory in Game 4 at Target Center. But as he attempted to get going, he looked back at where he started to see who might have kicked him. No one was there, and the Wolves’ spark plug fell to the floor with a non-contact injury. He shook off Jaden McDaniels’ attempt to lift the him to his feet and immediately waved trainers over. “You could just see the look in his eye when it happened,” Finch said. “You kind of knew.” DiVincenzo tore his Achilles’ tendon and will miss the rest of the season.:
