Rumor: Danilo Gallinari is dating Michelle Trachtenberg

Page Six, from the New York Post, reports:

The Knicks’ “Italian Stallion,” Danilo Gallinari, has a new love interest — “Gossip Girl” star Michelle Trachtenberg. The NBA heartthrob and the beauty have been spending time together in some of the city’s hottest clubs over the last few weeks. Sources tell us of the 22-year-old, 6-foot-10 “Gallo” and Trachtenberg: “They are seeing each other, but it is very early days. Michelle seems pretty excited about Danilo and was overheard talking about him at the Knicks game recently, saying she really likes him.”

InsideHoops.com editor says: The other female stars of Gossip Girl want me. They just don’t know it yet. But they will. Oh yes.

Eva Longoria, Tony Parker divorce

Ken Lee of People Magazine reports:

Three years after a storybook wedding in a European castle, Eva Longoria filed for divorce Wednesday from basketball star Tony Parker, a source tells PEOPLE.

The Desperate Housewives star’s documents were filed in Los Angeles Superior Court just one day after her rep denied that Parker had done the same in a Texas court.

Longoria, 35, and Parker, 27, were engaged in November 2006, then wed – as fireworks lit up the sky – on July 7, 2007, at Chateau of Vaux le Vicomte, a 17th Century castle on the outskirts of Paris one day after a small civil service. The double wedding celebrating came after a week of partying in Saint-Tropez, France.

TMZ reports:

“Extra” host Mario Lopez claims Eva has confirmed to him that she found hundreds of text messages from another woman on Parker’s phone.

Lopez says Eva also confirmed that the mystery woman is MARRIED to one of Parker’s teammates.

InsideHoops.com adds:

Another TMZ report says that Parker was talking a lot, especially via text message, with former teammate Brent Barry’s wife, Erin Barry. No reports suggest that Parker and Erin were actually sleeping together.

I have no comment. I’m not touching this stuff. But we’ll keep quoting what big entertainment outlets report.

Tony Parker did not file for divorce from Eva Longoria, but…

NEWEST UPDATE:

It turns out Eva Longoria is the one filing for divorce from Tony Parker, not the other way around. The news is here.

TMZ UPDATE: THEIR ORIGINAL STORY WAS WRONG

A rep for Eva Longoria tells TMZ our story that Tony Parker filed for divorce is not true. TMZ reported that Tony had filed for divorce.  Two clerks at the Bexar County Courthouse in Texas had told us the case was filed and sealed by a family law judge. But Eva’s rep tells us Tony did not file and does not even have a divorce lawyer.

TMZ’s ORIGINAL REPORT:

Eva Longoria and Tony Parker are getting divorced … TMZ has learned.

Parker filed for divorce yesterday in Texas.

The “Desperate Housewives” actress and the San Antonio Spurs star married back in July of 2007.

Shaq snowed out of his own All-Star party

I hate to keep talking about snow and slush at Dallas NBA All-Star weekend — and don’t worry, the actual events start tonight, and then everything will probably be all about basketball and fun — but here’s another All-Start party story of note.

TMZ reports:

Shaq snowed out of his own All-Star party

Shaquille O’Neal was supposed to host a party last night in Dallas for NBA All-Star Weekend — that is, until the biggest blizzard in the city’s history got in the way.

TMZ spoke to a manager of Aura Nightclub in uptown Dallas who told us that before Shaq arrived at the club, the record-setting snowfall blew out some electrical transformers … leaving everyone standing in the dark.

Sounds like this happened to lots of people.

But, that was just Thursday. The weekend really kicks into gear tonight (Friday). And while there’s slush all over Dallas, it’s done snowing, so all should go well for everyone from now on.

Dennis Rodman making coaching debut

Although the article mentions that he has no interest in really becoming a coach, Dennis Rodman is about to give it a shot in the very-minor leagues.

The Dallas Morning News reports:

Former Dallas Mavericks star Dennis Rodman will make his professional coaching debut tonight.

Rodman will coach the Elmira Bulldogs, a minor league team from Eastern Basketball Alliance for games on Friday and Saturday night.

“I want to show people that I am different than the character they see on TV. Everyone always sees me on TV, they see me doing crazy stuff,” Rodman told thedailyreview.com. “They see me on shows like rehab. I’m the sanest guy on that show.”

According to the-leader.com, Rodman is being paid to coach two games as a publicity stunt.

First Arena general manager Robbie Nichols thought it was a home run idea, but pre-order ticket sales have been a disappointment because he told the-leader.com that people weren’t sure Rodman would show up, given his freestyle nature.

Slam Dunk tickets in demand at 2010 NBA All-Star

Jeff Mosier of the Dallas Morning News reports:

Attendance at Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game at Cowboys Stadium will be Texas-size, but ticket prices in many cases are far more modest this year.

The cost of seats – or space in standing-room-only decks – in the resale market is down dramatically from recent years. The 92,000-plus sellout crowd in Arlington is expected to be the nation’s largest audience for a basketball game. That’s more people than the combined attendance of the last five NBA All-Star Games.

“Given the much larger venue size, this is the most affordable NBA All-Star Game we’ve seen since we’ve begun tracking prices,” said Joellen Ferrer, a spokeswoman for online ticket marketplace StubHub.com.

So far, the average price for the basketball game is $186 on StubHub. In the previous five years, the averages ranged from $508 in Denver to $2,546 in Las Vegas. The huge numbers of upper deck seats and standing-room-only tickets, which have a $30 face value, probably brought down the average…

However, the toughest tickets in town won’t necessarily be found in Arlington. Seats at the All-Star Saturday Night event, which features the three-point shooting and slam dunk contests, start at $225 on FanSnap.com. And with some seats on sale for $3,450, VIPs will pay nearly as much for a prime spot there as at the All-Star Game.

“That can happen now and again, but the norm is that the game is the bigger draw,” Anderson said. “It depends on what participants are in the dunk contest. … If you’ve got a big showdown brewing, that can be the case.”

Chinese shoe company Li Ning moves to Portland

George M. Thomas reports:

Portland is abuzz over Li Ning, a Chinese shoe manufacturer that has moved into Nike’s Oregon backyard. The Oregonian reported the company moved to the region to court workers who may have been displaced because of Nike layoffs last year.

It’s a company that should get a higher profile nationally because Cavaliers center Shaquille O’Neal is one of its high-profile spokesmen. O’Neal went to the company after leaving Reebok.

O’Neal endorses the shoe in only China right now, but said that he plans to work with the company in America.

The Cavs center said that his Li Ning shoes have sold 10 million pairs in China and 8 million here.

Devin Harris thinks 75 percent of NBA players own weapons

NBA players are celebrities. The league is seen by much of the world. Everybody knows who the stars are. With 30 teams and at most 15 players on a roster, only 450 human beings on the planet can claim to be NBA players at any given time.

The select few dozen stars are household names.

And, these guys need to protest themselves.

Dave D’Alessandro of the Newark Star-Ledger reports:

Harris estimates that “Seventy-five percent” of the players own weapons. He personally said he doesn’t have one, because, as he put it, “I have a pit bull.”

If Harris was referring to the human variety of pit bull (a bodyguard), who may in turn carry his own weapon, he didn’t say.

While the NBA wants its players to get over its obsession with firearms, most gun-owning players feel justified in carrying them because they are very tall and wealthy targets.

Sometimes, through no fault of their own whatsoever, violence finds them just because of what they drive.

Life can be complicated when random strangers passing by you all know who you are, but you don’t know them.

VH1 Basketball Wives: Reality TV Show about being NBA Wife

VH1 these days is packed with shows that often have nothing to do with music. Your own InsideHoops.com editor was one of the main people on one VH1 special episode, “Fabulous Life of Hoop Superstars,” back a few years ago.

The latest on VH1 as well as other stations are reality shows. They’re cheap to produce and, while often embarrassing to admit to watching, quite often entertaining.

This new show sounds right up the alley of what a gossip-loving basketball fan would want.

Vibe.com reports:

Shaq’s soon-to-be ex-wife Shaunie O’ Neal is planning to executive produce and star in an upcoming VH1 reality series about the tumultuous life of being the wife of a basketball star.

The series, Basketball Wives, is set to be began shooting this month, focusing on the “glamorous” and cliquey world of women who date famous (and some infamous) NBA stars– athletes whose world involves being away from home almost six months out the year.

The show is expected to include wives, and ex-wives. VH1 plans to chronicle the women enjoying the luxuries that come as a privilege of being affiliated with a pro baller, but also the paranoia of dealing with their groupies. Other women included in the series are Jennifer Williams (wife of Eric Williams), Evelyn Lozada (ex-fiancé of Antoine Walker), Mesha O’Neal (wife of Jermaine O’Neal), Royce Reed, and Faith Rain (Udonis Haslem’s girlfriend).

I know I’ll be tuning in. As the show actually starts, I’ll remind you of it, on the InsideHoops.com front page, this blog, and/or our rumors page, so keep going Inside Hoops every day.
