Spurs waive Jeremy Sochan

The San Antonio Spurs yesterday waived Jeremy Sochan. Sochan appeared in 28 of the Spurs 53 games this season, averaging 4.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 12.8 minutes.

San Antonio drafted Sochan with the ninth overall selection in the 2022 NBA Draft. In four seasons with the Spurs, the Baylor alum averaged 10.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 25.3 minutes.

The Spurs roster now stands at 17 players.

Wizards center Alex Sarr injury update

Washington Wizards forward/center Alex Sarr has sustained a hamstring strain that will sideline him for the Castrol Rising Stars game in Los Angeles. He is expected to be out through the All-Star break, and the approximate recovery time is two weeks.

The back-to-back Rising Stars selection will join his teammates Kyshawn George and Tre Johnson in Los Angeles for the festivities.

Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo injured, out 4-6 weeks

Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo did not finish Friday night’s 102-100 loss to the Denver Nuggets because of a right calf injury, which Antetokounmpo said after the game he expects will sideline him for at least four to six weeks.

Antetokounmpo will undergo an MRI on Saturday for further evaluation of the injury, which limited him throughout Friday’s contest. He said the issue felt similar to the calf injury that sidelined him earlier this season.

“After the MRI, they will tell me, probably, I popped something in my calf on my soleus or something,” Antetokounmpo said Friday. “This is from my experience being around the NBA.”

Warriors forward Jimmy Butler out with season-ending injury

Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler III will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season with a torn right anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), the team announced today. Butler III suffered the injury with 7:41 remaining in the third quarter of last night’s 135-112 win over the Miami Heat and will undergo surgery at a to-be-determined date.

Butler III appeared in 38 games (all starts) this season, averaging 20.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.5 steals in 31.1 minutes per game. Since Butler III’s acquisition on February 5, 2025, the Warriors own a 50-29 (.632) record and are currently a season-high six games over .500 at 25-19.

A 15-year NBA veteran, Butler III owns career averages of 18.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.6 steals in 33.0 minutes over 907 games (802 starts) with the Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat and Warriors. He was originally selected by the Bulls with the 30th overall pick in the 2011 Draft after a three-year collegiate career at Marquette University.

Hawks sign Christian Koloko to two-way contract

The Atlanta Hawks have signed center Christian Koloko to a two-way contract.

Koloko has appeared in 13 games (two starts) with the Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies this season, averaging 2.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 block in 15.5 minutes. Selected by the Toronto Raptors with the 33rd overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Koloko has seen action in 108 games across three NBA seasons (21 starts) with Toronto, Los Angeles and Memphis, owning averages of 2.8 points and 2.9 rebounds in 12.5 minutes (.502 FG%).

He has 16 career games with two-or-more blocks, including tallying a career-high six blocks in a win over Chicago on Nov. 6, 2022. Amongst all qualifying players in the 2022-23 season, Koloko ranked 25th in blocks per game (0.98 bpg).

The 7-0 center has seen action in 29 NBA G League games over the course of three seasons (26 starts), averaging 12.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 2.9 blocks in 27.4 minutes.

A native of Douala, Cameroon, Koloko spent three seasons at Arizona (2019-22), appearing in 91 games (56 starts), recording 7.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 17.9 minutes (.590 FG%). In his final season, Koloko was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year and Most Improved Player of the Year, earning a spot on the First Team All Pac-12.

Mavericks sign Jeremiah Robinson-Earl to 10-day contract

The Dallas Mavericks were granted an additional roster spot under the NBA’s hardship rules and subsequently signed forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl to a 10-day contract.

Robinson-Earl (6-8, 240) signs with Dallas after appearing in 17 games for the Indiana Pacers this season, averaging 4.6 points and 5.2 rebounds in 17.6 minutes. He has also seen action in 11 games for the Mavericks’ G League affiliate, the Texas Legends, in 2025-26, averaging 19.3 points (.522 FG%, .347 3FG%, 94.4 FT%), 11.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists.

The Kansas City native was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the 32nd overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft after two seasons at Villanova, where he earned Big East Co-Player of the Year honors as a sophomore. He holds career NBA averages of 5.9 points, 4.4 points, 1.0 assists and 17.6 minutes through 214 games (69 starts) with Oklahoma City (2021-23), New Orleans (2023-25) and Indiana (2025).

Robinson-Earl, who spent the 2025 preseason with Dallas, will wear No. 23 with the Mavericks, the same number he donned in training camp.

Mavericks injury update on Anthony Davis

Dallas Mavericks forward/center Anthony Davis met with his physician and underwent a medical evaluation of his left hand. He does not require surgery and is expected to heal from the injury in approximately six weeks.

Per the Dallas Morning News, “Davis has missed several games this season due to injury. On Christmas Day, he left a nationally televised showdown against the Golden State Warriors because of right adductor soreness in the inner thigh. He also missed 14 consecutive games earlier in the campaign with a left calf strain. Overall, Davis has played in 29 out of 73 regular-season games since he joined the Mavericks. The Mavericks are 10-10 this season with Davis in the lineup and 5-15 in games played without him.”

Grizzlies injury updates on Brandon Clarke, Zach Edey, Scotty Pippen Jr.

he Memphis Grizzlies today announced the following medical updates:

Brandon Clarke is progressing well in his rehabilitation of a Grade 2 right calf strain that was sustained on Dec. 20 against the Washington Wizards. Clarke is expected to return to play in 4-6 weeks, and further updates will be provided as appropriate.

Zach Edey continues to recover from a stress reaction in his left ankle initially diagnosed on Dec. 11. Based on the unanimous recommendation of consulting experts, Edey will continue on his current plan of offloading and rehabilitation, with a reevaluation to follow in approximately six weeks.

Scotty Pippen Jr. is progressing well in his recovery from a sesamoidectomy that was performed on Oct. 21 to address discomfort in his left great toe. Pippen Jr. is expected to return to play in 4-6 weeks, and further updates will be provided as appropriate.
