The Cleveland Cavaliers have waived guard Jordan McRae, Cavaliers General Manager David Griffin announced today.
McRae has played in 37 games (four starts) averaging 4.4 points in 10.4 minutes for the Cavs this season. He appeared in 15 regular season games and two postseason games for the Cavs last season.
The Cavaliers roster now stands at 14.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed forward Derrick Williams to a second 10-day contract, Cavaliers General Manager David Griffin announced today. Williams signed his first 10-day contract with the Cavs on February 9th.
Williams (6-8, 245) has appeared in four games for the Cavs this season, averaging 9.8 points on .600 shooting and 3.0 rebounds in 22.9 minutes per game. Prior to joining the Cavs, he played 25 games (11 starts) with Miami this season and averaged 5.9 points and 2.9 rebounds in 15.1 minutes.

Cavaliers forward and 2017 NBA All-Star Kevin Love underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove a loose body from his left knee this morning at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. The procedure was performed by Dr. David Altchek with Dr. James Rosneck of the Cleveland Clinic present.
Love will now undergo a period of rest and rehabilitation and his return to play is estimated at approximately six weeks.
Love made the 2017 Eastern conference NBA All-Star team. A replacement for him should be announced very soon. The All-Star game is this Sunday.

Charlotte Hornets General Manager Rich Cho announced today that the team has acquired center Chris Andersen and cash considerations from the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for a protected second-round pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. The second-round pick is top-55 protected. In a subsequent move, the Hornets have waived Andersen and the Charlotte roster stands at 14 players.
Andersen, who is in his 15th season in the NBA, appeared in 12 games for the Cavaliers before undergoing season-ending surgery on his right knee to repair a torn ACL. The 6-10 California native holds career averages of 5.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 17.7 minutes per game in 695 NBA contests.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed forward Derrick Williams to a 10-day contract, Cavaliers General Manager David Griffin announced today.
Williams (6-8, 245) appeared in 25 games (11 starts) with Miami this season and averaged 5.9 points and 2.9 rebounds in 15.1 minutes. Over his six-year NBA career, Williams has played in 401 games (112 starts) with Minnesota, Sacramento, New York and Miami, while averaging 9.1 points and 4.1 rebounds in 21.0 minutes. He was waived by the Heat on February 6.
The Atlanta Hawks have acquired a future first-round draft pick along with Mike Dunleavy and Mo Williams from the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Kyle Korver, it was announced today by President of Basketball Operations/Head Coach Mike Budenholzer.
“We are incredibly grateful to Kyle for his contributions to the Hawks over the last five years,” Budenholzer said. “He is a professional in every sense of the word and played a significant part in establishing our culture and in the success this franchise has seen. This is a difficult decision, but one we felt was in the best interest of the organization.”
Korver, a 2015 Eastern Conference All-Star, played in 332 games in Atlanta (307 starts), averaging 10.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 31.3 minutes (.462 FG%, .452 3FG%, .887 FT%).
The Hawks’ all-time leader in free-throw percentage (.887), Korver is third on the club’s all-time three-pointers made list (818). He hit at least one three-pointer in 311-of-332 games as a Hawk. The 14th-year guard ranks eighth in NBA history with 1,952 career three’s (fifth among active players) and is eighth all-time in three-point percentage (.429). He has hit 100-or-more three’s in 11 seasons, including each of the last six.
Korver set a then-NBA record from 2012-14, making a three-pointer in 127 consecutive games, a streak which ended on 3/6/14, shattering the previous mark of 89 (Dana Barros). He is the only player in NBA history to lead the league in three-point percentage three times, and in 2009-10, established the highest season three-point percentage in NBA history (.536) while with Utah.
In his 15th season, Dunleavy has averaged 11.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 28.1 minutes (.441 FG%, .376 3FG%, .803 FT%) playing in 956 career games (585 starts) with Golden State, Indiana, Milwaukee, Chicago and Cleveland.
Williams, a 13-year veteran, has appeared in 818 career games (525 starts) with Utah, Milwaukee, Cleveland, L.A. Clippers, Utah, Portland, Minnesota and Charlotte, averaging 13.9 points, 4.9 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 29.2 minutes (.434 FG%, .378 3FG%, .871 FT%).

The Portland Trail Blazers have acquired an unprotected first round draft pick from the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for a 2018 first round pick, it was announced today by president of basketball operations Neil Olshey.
The 2018 pick sent to Cleveland was originally acquired from the Cavaliers along with Anderson Varejao in exchange for a future second round selection on Feb. 18, 2016.
Portland now holds two first round selections in the 2017 NBA Draft.
The Utah Jazz vs Cleveland Cavaliers home game on Tuesday, Jan. 10 will be broadcast live in virtual reality, as part of NBA Digital and NextVR’s season-long initiative to deliver weekly games in VR through NBA LEAGUE PASS.
This programming marks the first regular schedule of live games delivered in VR by a professional sports league.
The VR broadcasts are fully produced with dedicated announcers, multiple unmanned camera angles and optimized graphics. Game breaks are filled with in-venue entertainment, behind-the-scenes footage from the arena and VR-specific commentary.
“The Utah Jazz are excited to be featured in two virtual reality broadcasts by the NBA this season,” said Utah Jazz President Steve Starks. “We support the NBA’s drive forward in VR innovation and the capability of giving our global fan base courtside seats for Jazz games through technology.”
For local viewers, the VR broadcast of Utah-Cleveland game will be blacked out. More information on the NBA LEAGUE PASS VR Game of the Week is available at http://www.nba.com/vr.
The Utah Jazz game at Oklahoma City on Feb. 28 is also on the NBA VR broadcast schedule.

The injury bug already reared its ugly head this season for the Cavaliers, taking down J.R. Smith’s thumb, Chris Andersen’s Achilles, and to a lesser extent, Kyrie Irving’s hamstring and Mike Dunleavy’s ankle in its path.
Following the Cavs’ 90-86 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday, Cleveland coach Tyronn Lue revealed his team is also dealing with the flu.
Kevin Love had it worst, as he exited the game with 6:54 remaining in the fourth quarter and did not return because of his illness that began as food poisoning, believed to be linked to sea bass he ate on the team’s flight back from Charlotte on Saturday, according to Lue.
“When I got the call from [Cavs head athletic trainer] Steve [Spiro], he said [Love] had lost 10 pounds and he was throwing up and whatever else I can’t say,” Lue said.

Quick Take: Love is having an excellent season. He’s averaging 21.8 ppg, 10.9 rpg and 1.7 apg. He’s taking a team-high 6.8 three point attempts per game, hitting 39.7% from outside the arc, and 44.8% FG. The Cavs are 26-7 this season, and for now their only series competition in the Eastern conference is the Toronto Raptors.

A five-game losing streak that tormented the Pistons in recent weeks, prompting tension inside the locker room and a shuffling of the starting lineup, has finally ended.
The Pistons jumped out to an early lead Monday then held serve rest of the way, using a late-third quarter rally that stretched into the fourth to take down the defending NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers, 106-90, at the Palace.
Cleveland was playing without LeBron James, instead opting to give the 12-time All-Star the night off after playing 40 minutes the night prior.
“We were very hungry,” Pistons point guard Reggie Jackson said. “We dropped I don’t know how many in a row. We dropped the last two that were very tough, against Memphis and Golden State, and I thought we played well but didn’t come out with a win.
“We knew they played yesterday, so we got a jump on them early.”
