Los Angeles Clippers guard Sebastian Telfair suffered a right groin strain and torn right adductor longus tendon in the Clippers victory over Chicago on Jan. 20. The diagnosis was confirmed when Telfair was examined by a specialist, Dr. Craig Smith, in Los Angeles earlier today.
Telfair is expected to miss a minimum of four to six weeks.
In 39 games played this season, Telfair has averaged 4.3 points and 2.9 assists in 14.3 minutes per game.
The Los Angeles Clippers today signed guard JamesOn Curry to a 10-day contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not announced.
A member of the NBA Development League’s Springfield Armor, Curry becomes the eighth Gatorade Call-Up of the 2009-10 season. The Clippers also announced that they have waived forward Kareem Rush.
With the Armor, the 6-foot-3 Curry averaged 16.1 points, 7.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds in 19 games this season. The former Oklahoma State standout was selected after his junior season by the Chicago Bulls in the second round of the 2007 NBA Draft. Curry did not appear in a regular season game for the Bulls, but was assigned to the D-League’s Iowa Energy and averaged 20.3 points, 5.5 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 13 games during the 2007-08 season.
Curry, 24, played in two games for Pau-Orthez of France before returning to Iowa and averaging 12.3 points in 16 games in 2008-09. Curry spent time with Proteas EKA AEL in Cyprus this season and joined the Armor in November, 2009.
A North Carolina native, Curry finished his career at Oklahoma State as the school’s 13th all-time leading scorer with 1,363 points and the third-most three-pointers in school history (197). As a junior, Curry was as Third Team All-Big 12 selection and finished second on the team in scoring.
Rush averaged 1.3 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.6 assists in seven games with the Clippers in 2009-10. Rush suffered a torn right ACL on Nov. 17, 2009 in New Orleans and underwent season-ending surgery to repair the knee in November.
Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin underwent successful surgery on his left knee Wednesday morning at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Center in Los Angeles.
The two-part procedure, specifically termed a left patellar fragment excision and a patellar tendon repair “couldn’t have gone better” according to Dr. Neal ElAttrache who performed the surgery. Dr. ElAttrache was assisted by Dr. Steven Shimoyama, the Clippers’ Team Physician. Dr. ElAttrache went on to say “the expectation is that Blake will undergo a sequential rehabilitation program that should have him back in action in four to six months.”
Authorized medical personnel will be available to address the news media at STAPLES Center prior to this evening’s Clippers-Bulls game, at 5:30 PM in the Avengers locker room.

After experiencing some discomfort during his recently-accelerated rehabilitation program, Clippers’ forward Blake Griffin was examined Tuesday afternoon by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles.
As a result of that examination, it has been determined that the healing in his left patella area has not improved to the expected required level. Griffin will undergo a surgical procedure in the near future, with a recovery prognosis of four to six months. Team personnel will be made available to the media. Further details will be made available as events develop.
Previously on December 23rd, after undergoing a CT Scan and MRI Griffin had been cleared to increase his rehabilitation workload.

TMZ reports: Basketball fans in Memphis went streaming for the exits in droves during the third quarter during a game between the Grizzlies and the Los Angeles Clippers — after signs informed fans there was an emergency — but it was all a false alarm. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ the drama was all over a busted water main.
The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports: FedExForum was evacuated tonight when a broken water line caused fire alarms to go off in the building, stopping the Grizzlies’ game against the Los Angeles Clippers. With 47.8 seconds left in the third quarter, a message came on the scoreboard for the crowd at the game to evacuate the building.
InsideHoops.com reports: The game has resumed play. The arena is now almost completely empty.

Los Angeles Clippers rookie forward Blake Griffin underwent a CT Scan and MRI of the stress fracture of his left patella yesterday.
In addition to his continued strength and conditioning work, Griffin has been cleared to begin running on an AlterG Anti-Gravity treadmill beginning today and is expected to begin running on a normal full-body weight treadmill next week.
Based on expected progression, Griffin is expected to be cleared for a return to basketball related activity in approximately three weeks.

The 6-foot-8 Thornton hired a personal chef in the off-season and abstained from greasy foods as he dropped from 235 pounds to 230, but felt his quickness came only in spurts. Thornton couldn’t pinpoint when he fully adapted to his diet, but said his energy level recently has been high.
“It took awhile,” said Thornton, who ate chicken breast, pasta and tomatoes after Thursday’s practice. “Once you do it you can tell there’s a major difference to how you feel and how your body feels. It’s an adjustment. But if you want to do well in this game, sometimes you have to make sacrifices.”
Thornton doesn’t want that sacrifice to include a bench role, but Coach Mike Dunleavy strongly hinted that rookie forward Blake Griffin will take Thornton’s place whenever Griffin fully recovers from the stress fracture in his left knee.

Los Angeles Clippers’ guard Kareem Rush underwent successful surgery on his right knee today to repair the torn ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) and partially torn lateral meniscus he suffered at New Orleans on November 17th. In addition, a microfracture procedure was also performed on the knee.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache and was assisted by Clippers’ team physician Dr. Steven Shimoyama. No timetable has been set for Rush’s return.
In seven games played this season, Rush averaged 1.3 points in 8.3 minutes per game.
Friday night the Golden State Warriors, playing at home, lost to the Los Angeles Clippers, who enjoyed very good games from Baron Davis and Chris Kaman.
As you surely recall, Davis used to be a Warrior and helped inject some nice life into the team while he was there.
Baron’s buddy Stephen Jackson, currently an unhappy Warrior who has requested to be traded, does not support any boos from Golden State fans in Baron’s direction.
The AP reports:
Jackson took exception to the fans’ reception of Davis, who was making his second appearance in Oakland since leaving the Warriors. Davis was booed every time he touched the ball.
“Baron is a great player,” Jackson said. “What upsets me is they boo him but they have short memories. They forgot the reason they’re still coming here is because of what he did when he was here. The organization was in the trash can before we had that year.”
The way I see it, the Warriors currently have so many issues, the last thing any members of the team need to worry about is how fans react to former players or anyone wearing the wrong jersey.
The Los Angeles Clippers today announced that the team has entered into a broadcast agreement with KWKW AM 1330. KWKW will broadcast 31 home games and 17 road games in Spanish during the 2009-10 season beginning with the Clippers’ home game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday, November 7th. Calling the games for KWKW will be Celso Gaspar.
KWKW is Los Angeles’ first Spanish Radio Station and has been under continuous ownership by the Kalmenson family controlled Lotus Communications since 1962. KWKW is the flagship station of the ESPN Deportes Radio Network.
