Limited fan attendance at Warriors home games will begin starting April 23

STATEMENT FROM THE WARRIORS

The Golden State Warriors announced today that Chase Center has been approved to host fans for the team’s remaining nine regular season home games, beginning April 23, when the Warriors face the Denver Nuggets.

Per California State Department of Public Health guidelines that were announced on April 2, Chase Center can accommodate up to 35% capacity based on the venue’s plan to require all fans and personnel to produce either proof of a full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test. The 35% capacity allowance is subject to the State’s physical distancing requirements, and the actual percentage of fan capacity that will be permitted on a per game basis may vary based on local health approval and subsequent guidance issued by the State and the County.

Every person entering Chase Center must produce either proof of a full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test that was administered within 48 hours prior to the game. Fans who purchase their tickets more than seven days in advance of the game will be eligible to receive, at no cost to the fan, an at-home Lucira Health molecular COVID-19 test to be self-administered within 48 hours of the game, making the Warriors the first sports team to provide fans with an at-home testing solution. Fans will then enroll in CLEAR’s Health Pass where they can securely link their test result and complete a health survey to generate a Health Pass, which they will be required to show for entry to Chase Center.

Additionally, fans who can provide proof of vaccination do not need to produce a negative COVID-19 test, unless they are seated within 30 feet of the court. Fully-vaccinated fans will have the opportunity to purchase tickets in designated sections of the arena bowl.

Chase Center will enforce strict health and safety protocols that have been established in coordination with the California State Department of Health, San Francisco Department of Public Health, and the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Stephen Curry already impressed with Warriors rookie James Wiseman

Stephen Curry is already very impressed with Warriors lottery pick James Wiseman. Here’s ESPN.com quoting Curry from a KGMZ-FM 95.7 radio interview:

“He’s just going to be a force, man,” Curry said of Wiseman. “To the point of all the things we need to learn as fast as possible, I can’t imagine for a 19-year-old to be able to ingest all that information, go out and play, but the things that he does well, you really can’t teach. His size, his athleticism, his presence to protect the paint, the speed to run up and down the floor, put pressure on the rim, we can use that right away. So you’re going to see a different player probably from Game 1 to Game 72, but early in the season he should be able to show what he’s about and provide a lot of value for us on the interior and play Warrior basketball. So I’m excited, man. You can see the look in his eyes. He’s chomping at the bit right now.”

The Warriors will be a team to watch this season, even if they’ll be without star shooting guard Klay Thompson for a second straight season.

Warriors add Dwayne Sutton, Axel Toupane and Kaleb Wesson to training camp

Sutton spent his freshman season at UNC-Asheville and transferred to Louisville as a walk-on, earning a scholarship the following season.

After surgery, Klay Thompson to miss another full NBA season

Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson on Wednesday, November 25 underwent surgery to fix a torn right Achilles.

The surgery will likely keep Thompson sidelined for the entire 2020-21 NBA season. Which means he’ll have been out of the NBA for an entire two seasons before he returns to action.

The 30-year-old sharpshooter suffered the injury while working out in the Los Angeles area on November 18.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, “though the additions of Kelly Oubre Jr., Brad Wanamaker and Kent Bazemore should bolster Golden State’s wing depth, the Warriors know there is no way to truly replace Thompson. His shooting range, defense and selflessness were a driving force behind the team’s recent dynasty.”

A three-time NBA Champion and five-time NBA All-Star, Thompson missed the entire 2019-20 NBA season after suffering a torn left ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals (June 13, 2019). He has appeared in 615 regular season games during his nine-year NBA career, averaging 19.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 33.1 minutes per game.

Originally selected with the pick 15th overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2015 NBA Draft, the Kansas product owns career averages of 10.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 24.1 minutes in 348 career games (99 starts) with the Washington Wizards and Suns.

The forward was originally traded to the Thunder on November 16, 2020.
