The Golden State Warriors have signed free agent center Trevor Thompson, the team announced today.

Thompson, 23, posted career-best averages of 10.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.50 blocks and 23.0 minutes in 32 games (20 starts) with Ohio State last season. The 7’0” center recorded a team-best 11 double-doubles and was named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten in 2017. He played with the Boston Celtics in the NBA Las Vegas Summer League this past July, averaging 2.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 7.8 minutes in four games.

The Golden State Warriors have waived guards Antonius Cleveland and Alex Hamilton, the team announced today.

Cleveland tallied eight points in six minutes in tonight’s preseason opening loss to Denver. Hamilton scored two points in three minutes of action.

Per the San Francisco Chronicle, “by waiving those two training-camp invitees, Golden State brought its roster to 18 players. It must have that number down to 15 by Oct. 16.”

Golden State Warriors training camp begins Saturday, September 23.

The Warriors also announced the signing of free agent guards Antonius Cleveland, Michael Gbinije (ben-ih-jhay) and Alex Hamilton and free agent forward Georges Niang (George KNEE-yang).

Cleveland, 22, went undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft after a four-year career at Southeast Missouri State, where he averaged 12.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.31 steals and 28.8 minutes in 121 career games. As a senior in 2016-17, he averaged a career-high 16.6 points while hitting career bests of 54.3 percent from the field and 38.4 percent from three-point range.

Gbinije, 25, appeared in nine games with the Detroit Pistons last season, scoring four points in 32 minutes. Originally selected by the Pistons with the 49th overall pick in the second round of the 2016 NBA Draft, Gbinije averaged 12.0 points, and 4.3 rebounds in 35.0 minutes over 16 games with the Grand Rapids Drive of the NBA G League. Gbinije, who spent his freshman season at Duke before playing three seasons at Syracuse University, helped the Orange to a Final Four appearance as a senior in 2015-16 after averaging career marks of 17.5 points and 4.3 assists in 37.9 minutes over 37 games.

Hamilton, 23, spent the 2016-17 season with Golden State’s G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, where he averaged 11.4 points, 4.5 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 23.4 minutes over 43 games. Prior to joining Santa Cruz, Hamilton played collegiately for four seasons at Louisiana Tech, where he averaged 19.9 points, 6.2 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 1.97 steals in 33 games as a senior in 2015-16, earning Conference USA Player of the Year honors.

Niang, 24, appeared in 23 games for the Indiana Pacers in 2016-17, totaling 21 points and 17 rebounds in 93 minutes of action. Originally selected by the Pacers with the 50th overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft, Niang averaged 19.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 33.0 minutes over six games with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA G League last season. Niang played collegiately for four seasons at Iowa State University, where he earned the 2016 Karl Malone Award, given to the nation’s best power forward, after averaging 20.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists as a senior in 2015-16.

Following seven days of practice, the Warriors will open their preseason schedule at Oracle Arena on Saturday, September 30, against the Denver Nuggets before traveling to China for a pair of preseason games against the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of the NBA Global Games.

The Golden State Warriors were named the team with the Best Home Court Advantage by the NBA Players Association during the organization’s Players Voice Awards on Friday, which were announced on Twitter.

“Best home court advantage,” said Warriors power forward Andre Iguodala in a video that went along with the announcement. “Gotta go to Oracle Arena.” Other players chimed in, commenting on the energy and excitement of the fans and saying that when they drive up to the arena they see raucous fans waiting to get into the game.

The Golden State Warriors have re-signed free agent center JaVale McGee.

McGee, 29, averaged 6.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 9.6 minutes over 77 games (10 starts) in his first season with the Warriors in 2016-17, while hitting a career-best 65.2 percent from the field. In 10 starts, McGee tallied averages of 9.8 points and 5.2 rebounds in 16.4 minutes per game. The nine-year NBA veteran ranked second among all centers in Player Efficiency Rating (PER) with a 25.3 mark, trailing only Minnesota’s Karl-Anthony Towns. In 16 postseason games (one start), McGee led all players in field goal percentage (.732) and averaged 5.9 points and 3.0 rebounds in 9.3 minutes, helping Golden State to its fifth NBA championship in franchise history.

Originally selected by the Washington Wizards with the 18th overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, McGee owns career averages of 7.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.58 blocks over 493 games (170 starts) with the Wizards, Denver Nuggets, Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks and Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors have signed rookie forward Jordan Bell to a contract. The Warriors acquired the draft rights to Bell, the 38th overall selection in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft, from the Chicago Bulls in exchange for cash considerations on June 22.

Bell, 22, posted career highs of 10.9 points and 8.8 rebounds to go with 2.3 blocks (second in the Pac-12) as a junior in 2016-17, earning Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year honors. Bell (6’9”, 224) compiled career averages of 7.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.1 steals, 2.3 blocks and 24.9 minutes in 104 games over three seasons at Oregon, garnering Second Team All-Pac-12 accolades last season. Oregon’s career leader in blocked shots (235) and field goal percentage (.610), Bell helped the Ducks advance to the 2017 Final Four with an 11-point, 13-rebound, eight-block performance in a win over Kansas in the Elite Eight. In a Final Four matchup with North Carolina, he scored 13 points to go with a career-high 16 rebounds against the eventual champion Tar Heels.

A native of Long Beach, Calif., Bell is currently with the Warriors Summer League team in Las Vegas.
