Warriors forward Andre Iguodala will undergo wrist surgery

Golden State Warriors forward Andre Iguodala will undergo surgery next week for a fractured left wrist.

Iguodala suffered the injury during Monday’s win over the Phoenix Suns at Chase Center.

More should be known about a possible return date following the surgery.

The Warriors are 36-33 this season, which tied them with the Clippers for the 5th best record in the Western conference.

Iguodala has played in just eight games this season, averaging 2.1 points in 14.1 minutes per game.

Warriors continue to lose road games, fall to Grizzlies

Via the Memphis Commercial Appeal:

Dillon Brooks was driving to the rim while Draymond Green, the Golden State Warrior who publicly told the world that Brooks is holding the Memphis Grizzlies back, was waiting.

Brooks went into the body of Green and finished a layup with his left hand as the FedExForum crowd screamed while the two elite defenders stood face to face.

Brooks got the better of the face-off, and his team got the advantage in the matchup. The Grizzlies defeated the Warriors 131-110 at FedExForum on Thursday night.

Memphis (39-26) spent most of the night leading by double digits. Each of the five Grizzlies starters scored in double figures, led by 22 points from Tyus Jones. Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 21 points apiece.

The Grizzlies remained without the services of Ja Morant and Steven Adams in this contest.

Warriors sign Lester Quinones to 10-day contract

The guard was named the NBA G League Player of the Week for games played from February 13 to February 26. Undrafted out of Memphis, Quinones appeared in two preseason games for Golden State, averaging 5.0 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 10.0 minutes per game.

Multi-team trade sends James Wiseman from Warriors to Pistons

The Portland Trail Blazers have acquired forward Kevin Knox II via the Detroit Pistons and five future second round picks in a trade that sent Gary Payton II to the Golden State Warriors, it was announced today by General Manager Joe Cronin. As part of the trade, Detroit acquired center James Wiseman in a move that sent forward Saddiq Bey to the Atlanta Hawks.

In his fifth season out of Kentucky, Knox has amassed career averages of 7.4 points (37.9% FG, 34.4% 3-PT, 71.1% FT) and 2.9 rebounds in 18.1 minutes per game in 254 games (62 starts) for New York (2018-22), Atlanta (2021-22) and Detroit (2022-23). A former ninth overall selection in the 2018 NBA Draft of the New York Knicks, Knox averaged 5.6 points (46.9% FG, 37.1% 3-PT, 78.8 FT%) and 2.6 rebounds in 14.1 minutes per game in 42 games (1 start) during the 2022-23 season

Pair of young Warriors playing great lately

Via the San Jose Mercury News:

Expectations shape reality, but for the Warriors, a new reality needs to shift their expectations.

The Baby Dubs — namely Jordan Poole and Jonathan Kuminga — have thrived since the Warriors’ Christmas Day win over the Grizzlies, the first game of the team’s eight-game home stand. Following that win over Memphis with strong performances in the clutch against the Hornets, Jazz, and the Blazers have given the Warriors their first four-game winning streak this season.

For a team whose only intention with Steph Curry injured and out of the lineup was to keep its head above water — to win as many as it loses — this home stand is already a success.

But this is also a team that has found a new gear this past week, without Curry or do-it-all forward Andrew Wiggins.

It’s time for the Dubs to be greedy.

Warriors guard Stephen Curry injury update: out two more weeks

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, who suffered a subluxation of his left shoulder on December 14 at Indiana and has missed the team’s last four (4) games, was recently re-evaluated. The re-evaluation, according to the team, indicated that Curry is making good progress.

He will be re-evaluated again in two (2) weeks.

Warriors just 2-11 on road so far this NBA season

Via the San Jose Mercury News:

The Warriors have looked like champions on their home court this season, where they’ve been nearly unbeatable, posting a 12-2 record.

But it’s been a totally different story outside the Bay.

Golden State hasn’t been able to sustain that success on the road, falling to a head-scratching 2-11 hole in the first two months.

That leaves the Warriors at 14-13 overall, a record that isn’t entirely reflective of their play. They’ve had several games stolen or given away late. That includes their most recent road debacle in Utah, which featured a pair of mental lapses in the game’s final 13 seconds that allowed the Jazz to squeak away with a wild win.

The Warriors entered Monday in eighth place in the Western Conference standings, sitting 3 1/2 games out of first place. They’re set to embark on a six-game road trip that’ll span five cities in nine days.

Moses Moody leaps on rare playing time opportunity for Warriors

Via the San Jose Mercury News:

Moses Moody took full advantage of a rare opportunity on Saturday night.

Klay Thompson out for the latter leg of the Warriors’ back-to-back left 17 minutes of playing time for Moody, who has been squeezed out of a rotation job this year due to an overflow of players at his position.

Though Moody finished with a team-worst minus-16, he went 3-for-3 from 3 and 4-for-5 overall. His last two 3-pointers created much-needed separation as the Houston Rockets chipped the Warriors once-25-point lead down to five. The Warriors pulled away for a 120-101 win, in part, because Moody was ready.

“I mean, the guy hasn’t played in a month, and he’s been working so hard every single day going full bore getting his work in the weight room and on the floor,” Kerr said.
