Odom suffered the injury in the 2nd quarter of last night’s game against the New Orleans Hornets at STAPLES Center.

Don Nelson job safe

I think he’s done his job as a coach. I think Nellie has done everything he’s done his last 30 years in the business. … “Unfortunately, we’ve had Corey (Maggette) out 15 games, we’ve had Monta (Ellis) out, we’re banged up. It’s still not an excuse – it’s the NBA – but we knew when Monta went down that this would be a tough start to the year.”

Warriors add Jermareo Davidson, waive DeMarcus Nelson

The Golden State Warriors have signed forward Jermareo Davidson to a 10-day contact and placed guard DeMarcus Nelson on waivers, the team announced today.

Davidson, 24, is being called-up from the NBA Developmental League’s Idaho Stampede, where he averaged 16.1 points and 10.8 rebounds in 15 games.  The 6’10’’ forward ranked first in the D-League in double-doubles (10) and third in rebounding (10.8).    He scored a season-high 25 points on December 10 vs. Dakota and grabbed a season-best 14 rebounds against the Los Angeles Defenders on December 12.

Originally selected by the Warriors in the second round of the 2007 NBA Draft (#36 overall), Davidson had his rights traded to the Charlotte Bobcats on June 28, 2007.  The draft-night trade sent Davidson and Jason Richardson to Charlotte in exchange for the rights to the eighth overall selection in the draft, Brandan Wright.

Davidson appeared in 38 games with Charlotte during his rookie campaign in 2007-08, averaging 3.2 points and 1.6 rebounds.   Prior to being waived on October 27, 2008, he appeared in three preseason games with the Bobcats this season, averaging 2.0 points in 8.7 minutes.

Nelson, 23, appeared in 13 games with Golden State this season, averaging 4.1 points and 1.0 assists in 13.1 minutes.  Following a four-year college career at Duke, he was not selected in the 2008 NBA Draft and was signed by the Warriors as a free agent on September 9, 2008.

Davidson, who will wear jersey #33 with the Warriors, becomes the third player this season and the 75th player overall in the D-League’s eight-year history to receive a call-up to the NBA.  Additionally, Davidson becomes the sixth player called-up from the D-League by Golden State, joining C.J. Watson (2007-08), Kelenna Azubuike (2006-07), Renaldo Major (2006-07), Will Bynum (2005-06) and Rusty LaRue (2003-04).

Kelenna Azubuike emerging

The Bay Area News Group (Curtis Pashelka) reports: Kelenna Azubuike has evolved into one of Golden State’s best all-around players — second on the team in rebounds (158), third in three-point field-goal percentage (.407) and fifth in scoring (13.6 points). “I feel comfortable in any offense,” the 6-foot-5 Azubuike said. “We’ve all just tried to buy into (the new system). It’s helped us play more (as a team).”   Azubuike’s play was one of the few bright spots in the Warriors’ 107-100 loss to Oklahoma City on Wednesday as he scored a season-high 24 points, all in the second half. He was 4 of 6 on three-point attempts and 8 of 12 overall, receiving plenty of open shots thanks to the Warriors’ new offensive philosophy.

Thunder top Warriors for 4th victory of the season, 107-100

Jackson, Belinelli lead Warriors past Raptors

The AP reports: Marco Belinelli, C.J. Watson and the Golden State Warriors returned home just long enough to pick up a change of clothes, a victory over Toronto and two new nicknames. Stephen Jackson scored 30 points, Belinelli added 23 and the Warriors held off the road-weary Raptors on Monday night. Their 117-111 victory wasn’t safe until the whisper-thin Watson floated into the lane and hit a clutch jumper over Chris Bosh, the 6-foot-10 All-Star, in the final minute… Kelenna Azubuike added 18 points for the Warriors, who won for just the third time in 11 games… Bosh had 30 points and 14 rebounds for Toronto, hitting a 3-pointer with 3:29 left to pull the Raptors within two points. Jose Calderon added 21 points and 16 assists, but the Raptors missed several open 3-pointers in the final minutes, perhaps finally running out of energy after 12 days on the road.

Bryant leads Lakers past Warriors, 130-113

The AP reports: Kobe Bryant explained why the Celtics had a letdown and the Lakers didn’t following the rivals’ intense game several days earlier. “They had won 19 straight games, so they were due for a couple of bad ones,” Bryant said Sunday night after scoring 31 points in Los Angeles’ 130-113 romp over the Golden State Warriors… Derek Fisher added 19 points in the win and Sasha Vujacic had 17. Pau Gasol had 13 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, and Andrew Bynum chipped in with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Paul Pierce had 21 points and five assists and Kevin Garnett scored 14, but the Celtics couldn’t hold a 14-point lead a day after their franchise-record 19-game winning streak ended with a nine-point loss to the Lakers in Los Angeles on Christmas… Jackson—who had missed the past four games with a sprained left hand— scored 15 points in the final period and Marco Belinelli totaled 22 for the Warriors, who have won five straight and 12 of 15 against the Celtics at home. Golden State lost 119-111 in Boston on Nov. 26 in the teams’ first meeting.
