The following is a medical update on Memphis Grizzlies forward Chandler Parsons:
After further evaluation it has been determined that Parsons will undergo a meniscectomy to repair a partial tear of the medial meniscus in his left knee. The surgery will be performed on Monday, March 20.
Parsons is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

The Memphis Grizzlies today signed guard Toney Douglas for the remainder of the 2016-17 season.
Douglas (6-2, 195) has appeared in 14 games as a reserve for the Grizzlies this season and averaged 5.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 17.2 minutes. The 30-year-old originally signed with Memphis as a free agent on Dec. 5 pursuant to the NBA’s hardship rule and was waived on Dec. 15. He then was re-signed by the Grizzlies to consecutive 10-day contracts on Jan. 31 and Feb. 9. Memphis has gone 11-3 in games where Douglas has played.
Drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round (29th overall) of the 2009 NBA Draft following his senior season at Florida State University, the Jonesboro, Ga. native has appeared in 384 regular season games (65 starts) and averaged 7.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 19.2 minutes during his eight-year NBA career with the New York Knicks, Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies.

The 30-year-old originally signed with Memphis as a free agent on Dec. 5 pursuant to the NBA’s hardship rule and was waived on Dec. 15. He then was re-signed by the Grizzlies to a 10-day contract on Jan. 30. Memphis has recorded a 10-1 record in the games Douglas has played this season.

Memphis Grizzlies General Manager Chris Wallace today announced the team has waived guard Toney Douglas.
Douglas (6-2, 195) came off the bench in seven games for the Grizzlies and averaged 5.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 17.8 minutes after he was signed on Dec. 5 pursuant to the NBA’s hardship rule.

The Grizzlies have taken over the league lead in defensive rating. Their stinginess was on display in Saturday’s 110-89 victory over Golden State – a rare lopsided win for the Grizzlies, who have thrived in close games. New coach David Fizdale’s team is 12-0 this season in games with a three-point margin in the final minute of regulation or overtime.
Marc Gasol has been fantastic (25.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 5.3 apg during the winning streak) and Zach Randolph is flourishing in his new role as sixth man, helping Memphis overcome the absences of Mike Conley and Chandler Parsons.
The Grizzlies are also benefiting from the play of several NBA Development League alums such as current starters JaMychal Green and Andrew Harrison as well as reserves Troy Daniels (16.5 ppg in December) and Jarell Martin.
Memphis’ next two games are against the defending champion Cavaliers – at Cleveland on Tuesday and home on Wednesday.

The Rockets also count a victory over the league-leading Warriors as part of their six-game winning streak. Also like Memphis, Houston has adjusted quickly to a new coach.
Mike D’Antoni’s Rockets rank second in the NBA in points per game behind James Harden, who leads the league in assists and is tied for fourth in scoring. With Harden orchestrating a spread attack, Houston paces the league in three-pointers made and has hit at least 10 threes in an NBA-record 23 straight games. Four Houston players are among the NBA’s top 12 in threes made: Eric Gordon, Harden, Trevor Ariza and Ryan Anderson.
In addition, the emerging Clint Capela is excelling in the paint and Houston has clicked since the return of Patrick Beverley, who has been a part of 11 wins and just two losses.

Douglas (6-2, 195) has appeared in 370 regular season games (65 starts) and averaged 7.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 19.2 minutes during his seven-year NBA career with the New York Knicks, Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat and New Orleans Pelicans.
Most recently, Douglas was a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 2016 preseason roster. He played in 61 games (18 starts) last season with New Orleans and averaged 8.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 20.7 minutes while shooting 41.1 percent from the field, 39.9 percent from three-point range and 84.8 percent from the free throw line.
The 30-year-old has competed in 15 playoff games (three starts) with New York and Miami, including a 10-game postseason run with the Heat in 2013-14. During his stint in Miami, Douglas was coached by then-Heat assistant and current Grizzlies head coach David Fizdale.
A native of Jonesboro, Ga., Douglas was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round (29th overall) of the 2009 NBA Draft after his senior season at Florida State University. While with the Knicks, he scored 29 points and made a career-high nine three-pointers against the Grizzlies on March 17, 2011 at Madison Square Garden.

There might not be a better example today of the evolution of the NBA big man than Marc Gasol of the Memphis Grizzlies, who all of a sudden has become a legitimate three-point shooting threat.
In 569 games spanning eight seasons before this, the 7-foot-1 Gasol had attempted just 66 three-pointers, making just 12 and many of them shots forced to beat the shot clock or the game clock, prayers seldom answered.
Now? Heading into Wednesday’s game against the Toronto Raptors at the Air Canada Centre, Gasol is a relative long-distance chucker, shooting 42 per cent from three on already a season-high 60 attempts.
Quick Take: If you enjoy seeing centers shoot threes, then also check out Nets games. Brooklyn center Brook Lopez is shooting 5.7 three-pointers per game, hitting 2.1 of them for a very respectable average of 37.6%.

Grizzlies forward/center Brandan Wright underwent a successful arthroscopic debridement of his left ankle Tuesday afternoon after non-surgical interventions failed to eliminate his posterior tibialis tendinopathy.
Translation: His ankle was messed up, and surgery wound up being the best option.
The procedure was performed at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis and Wright will begin rehabilitation in Memphis immediately.
The 6-10, 230-pound forward/center has been sidelined for all 10 of the team’s regular season games this season and last appeared in the Oct. 6 preseason contest against the Atlanta Hawks.
Memphis Grizzlies General Manager Chris Wallace today announced the team has exercised the third-year contract option on forward Jarell Martin. Martin is now signed through the 2017-18 season.
Martin (6-10, 239) competed in 27 regular season games (zero starts) during his rookie season and averaged 5.7 points and 3.2 rebounds in 14.1 minutes for Memphis after being selected by the team in the first round (25th overall) of the 2015 NBA Draft. He did not appear in the Grizzlies’ opening-night victory on Oct. 26 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The 22-year-old also appeared in 10 games (six starts) last season for the Grizzlies’ NBA Development League affiliate, the Iowa Energy, and averaged 15.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in 28.9 minutes.
A native of Baton Rouge, La., Martin played two seasons (2013-15) at Louisiana State University, appearing in 65 games (57 starts) for the Tigers, and averaged 13.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 30.7 minutes while earning consensus First Team All-SEC honors as a sophomore. He guided the Tigers to the postseason in both of his seasons at LSU, including the 2014 National Invitation Tournament and the 2015 NCAA Tournament.

Adams (6-5, 209) appeared in 32 games (zero starts) over two seasons with the Grizzlies and averaged 3.2 points and 0.9 rebounds in 8.2 minutes. The 22-year-old Atlanta native was selected by Memphis in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2014 NBA Draft following a two-year collegiate career at UCLA.
Costello (6-9, 245), recently signed on Oct. 20, did not appear in a preseason game with the Grizzlies but averaged 4.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in 9.0 minutes in two preseason contests with the Atlanta Hawks. The 23-year-old Linwood, Mich. native went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft following a four-year collegiate career at Michigan State University.
The Grizzlies’ roster now stands at 15 players
