The AP reports: The Milwaukee Bucks have made the most of a rough road schedule — every time they’ve come to New York, they’ve left with a win. Michael Redd scored 21 points to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to their third win this season over the New York Knicks, 105-81 Friday night… Redd scored 12 points in a decisive 25-7 run that spanned the two halves. Richard Jefferson and Luc Mbah a Moute each had 16 points for the Bucks. Nate Robinson, inserted into the Knicks’ lineup to replace Al Harrington after he got caught in traffic, had 21 points… Harrington arrived midway through the first quarter and finished with 16 points, and David Lee had 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Dec 17: Sixers 93, Bucks 88
The AP reports: Lou Williams matched his career high with 25 points in a reserve role, Miller added 19, and the Philadelphia 76ers overcame the loss of forward Elton Brand to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 93-88. Brand dislocated his right shoulder with 7:23 left in the third quarter after landing on Milwaukee’s Luc Mbah a Moute. Marreese Speights tied his career high with 12 points, and Thaddeus Young had 10 to help the Sixers improve to 11-14 overall and 2-0 under interim coach Tony DiLeo. DiLeo replaced the fired Maurice Cheeks on Saturday. Luke Ridnour and Charlie Bell scored 14 points each for Milwaukee, and Mbah a Moute added 13. Richard Jefferson and Charlie Villanueva had 11 apiece. The loss ended the Bucks’ two-game winning streak.
Charlie Villanueva bench role continues
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel (Tom Enlund) reports (via blog): Bucks coach Scott Skiles again started rookie Luc Richard Mbah a Moute at power against Miami and Charlie Villanueva came off the bench to score 20 points. Malik Allen, who had been starting at power forward, missed his fourth game with a rib sprain and is listed on the team’s injury report as day to day. Skiles is still wrestling with how he wants to handle the position once Allen get healthy again. “You’ve got to give Charlie a lot of credit,” said Skiles. “He’s accepted that (reserve role) and has played well there. But I still wouldn’t put any permanence on it. Malik was just starting to fit into that role a little bit and unfortunately he got hurt. I’d like to put Mbah a Moute back on the bench, to be honest, just to have him available for different match ups when he comes in as a defender. So maybe when we get Malik back, we’ll go back to that. But I’m starting Luc at (power forward) and it’s kind of unfair to him because he’s always over-matched physically with a bigger player.”
Milwaukee Bucks to attempt Guinness World Records
Everybody has heard of the Guinness Book of World Records, a legendary book that contains the unprecedented achievements of people from around the globe. But few have ever made an attempt to add their name to the book’s famous pages and even fewer have actually succeeded in doing so. On Saturday night, the Bucks are giving all fans in attendance the chance to both witness history AND – even better – a guarantee that they will be a part of history by helping to set two Guinness records.
On Saturday, December 20, when they host the Los Angeles Clippers, the Bucks Game Operations Department will attempt to set nine separate Guinness World Records. An official judge from Guinness will be at the game to legitimize any and all record-setting attempts. The records that could be broken are:
– Longest time to spin a basketball on one finger, using one hand (current record: 37.46 seconds)
– Most basketball half-court shots in one minute (current record: 4)
– Highest forward flip trampoline slam dunk (current record: 10 feet, 9 inches)
– Most slam dunk bounce passes in 30 seconds (current record: 21)
– Furthest forward flip trampoline slam dunk (current record: 19 feet, 2 inches)
– Most basketball forward flip slam dunks in 30 seconds (current record: 17)
* Both records currently held by the Milwaukee Bucks Rim Rockers, set on February 14, 2008, at the NBA All-Star Jam Session in New Orleans, LA.
In addition to the six records listed above, the Bucks will also attempt to set three records that have never before been recorded. A member of the dunk team will attempt to complete the first-ever double front flip dunk on record during halftime. The final two record attempts will not be disclosed until Saturday night, but there are currently no official records on file for either one, meaning that any fan in attendance at Saturday’s game will be a part of the crowd that sets the original marks for two Guinness World Records.
Dec 15: Bucks 98, Heat 83
The AP reports: The Milwaukee Bucks wanted a quick start to their three-game road trip, and Michael Redd delivered. Redd scored 16 of his 21 points in the first quarter, and the Bucks started fast before holding off a late rally to beat the Miami Heat 98-83 on Monday night… Andrew Bogut had 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Charlie Villanueva added 20 points for Milwaukee, which won on the road for the first time since beating Charlotte on Nov. 22… Mario Chalmers had 20 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, and Wade added 15 points for the Heat, who lost their third straight game.
Dec 13: Bucks 121, Pacers 103
The AP reports: Michael Redd scored 27 points and Andrew Bogut had 20 points and 20 rebounds to lead Milwaukee. Charlie Villanueva added 26 points, 24 in the first half, to equal a season high and help the Bucks snap a three-game losing streak. Jefferson had 20 points, 10 in the fourth quarter. T.J. Ford had a season-high 27 points for Indiana… Rookie Brandon Rush, the 13th pick in the draft out of Kansas, had 16 off the bench for the Pacers. Danny Granger, coming off a career-high 42 points in a loss to the Detroit Pistons on Friday night, added 14.
More needed from Andrew Bogut
The Racine Journal-Times (Gery Woelfel) reports (via blog): While Bogut has been a factor, if not a force, on the glass, his offensive game has become surprisingly stagnant. After averaging 14.3 points a game last season, Bogut is averaging 10.9. In the last five games, Bogut’s offensive production has dropped even more as he averaged just 9.2 points. That included a five-point effort against Charlotte and a six-point outing against the Los Angeles Lakers… Injuries are a part of it. Bogut’s been slowed by ankle and knee problems. He’s also had to cope with an excruciatingly painful migraine headache, one that temporarily rendered the left side of his body virtually numb. Injuries are a part of it. Dec 11: Warriors 119, Bucks 96
The AP reports: Marco Belinelli’s achingly perfect jumper from behind the backboard just rubbed it in for the Milwaukee Bucks. They couldn’t keep up when the Golden State Warriors finally played their beautiful game in the fourth quarter. Stephen Jackson scored 21 points, C.J. Watson added 19 and the Warriors won their second straight after a nine-game losing streak, 119-96 over the slumping Bucks on Wednesday night… Andris Biedrins had 18 points and 14 rebounds for the Warriors, who pulled away with a 22-5 run to begin the fourth after leading just 82-81 entering the period… Michael Redd scored 27 points for the Bucks… Richard Jefferson scored 17 points, and Luke Ridnour added 13 for Milwaukee in another meeting between the clubs that played two preseason games in China in October.
Dec 9: Suns 125, Bucks 110
The AP reports: This is how the Phoenix Suns’ offense was supposed to flow with Shaquille O’Neal. The Suns would run when they could—and when they couldn’t, they’d settle into a halfcourt offense and feed Shaq in the post. It went from a work in progress to near perfection as O’Neal scored a season-high 35 points and the Suns beat Milwaukee 125-110 on Tuesday night, extending their domination of the Bucks in Arizona… O’Neal hit 14 of 19 shots from the floor and 7-of-12 from the line, and he added eight rebounds… Amare Stoudemire added 22 points and Steve Nash had 19 points and 10 assists on a night the Suns resembled the free-flowing team shaped by D’Antoni. Phoenix scored a season-high 36 points in the first quarter, then topped that with 38 in the second… Charlie Villanueva scored 24 points, Michael Redd had 23 and Richard Jefferson added 22 for Milwaukee, which has lost six of its last eight games.
Bucks rookie better at home
Milwaukee Bucks rookie forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute has turned out to be a better basketball player than most observers expected. Playing 27.4 minutes per game, he’s putting up 8.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.09 steals, and contributing in ways that don’t show up on the stat sheet.
Sure, the Bucks haven’t played very good basketball this season, but at least Mbah a Moute’s turned out to be a decent contributor.
At home, at least.
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel (Tom Enlund) reports:
The most glaring contrast in Mbah a Moute’s home and road statistics is his field-goal percentage. He is shooting 49.2% at home and 40.0% on the road. He is scoring 8.8 points per game at home and 8.5 points on the road. He is rebounding better on the road, 7.2 per game compared with 5.9 at home. On a recent four-game trip to Charlotte, Orlando, Atlanta and Detroit, Mbah a Moute averaged 6.5 points on 37.5% shooting and 6.2 rebounds. On a trip to Denver and Utah, he averaged 9.5 points on 40.0% shooting and 5.5 rebounds. “I’ve been struggling a little bit on the road,” he said. “The teams we’ve been playing the last couple weeks have been really good teams. All those teams are good teams and you go against those teams it’s always going to be hard.”
Charlie Villanueva is still the better player, though the team wants him to keep improving his basketball IQ and remember to hustle every second he’s on the floor, at both ends of the court.
