Due to weather conditions last night in Milwaukee, the Cavaliers traveled to Milwaukee this morning for their game tonight against the Bucks.
Cavaliers forward/center Ben Wallace did not travel with the team due to back spasms. He remained in Cleveland for further examination.
The Milwaukee Bucks have advised General Manager Larry Harris that he will not be offered a new contract. The team accommodated Harris’ recent request for an early decision on his status. Harris’ contract expires June 30, 2008. By mutual agreement, he is being relieved of his responsibilities so that he can pursue other opportunities.
“Larry Harris has served the Milwaukee Bucks since 1990 with complete dedication and loyalty,” Bucks President Senator Herb Kohl said. “The commitment and effort he provided the organization has resulted in many good outcomes. I believe at this time it is in the best interest of the Bucks to proceed in another direction. Larry’s professional approach has been valued and appreciated by our organization and we wish him the best in future endeavors.”
The Bucks have waived David Noel. All I really know about him is that he can jump high. Maybe that’s all the Bucks know, too.
More info: Currently in his second NBA season, Noel did not appear in a game for the Bucks this season. He missed 27 games with a right wrist injury and was inactive (36 games) or a coach’s decision (two games) for the other 38 contests for Milwaukee. As a rookie, Noel appeared in 68 games for the Bucks and averaged 2.7 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.0 assist per contest.
Yi Jianlian (sprained right wrist) and Mo Williams (pubic symphysitis) have been Inactive for the last three games.
Both players will not make the trip to Washington, D.C., for the Bucks game vs. the Wizards on Tuesday, March 11.
On Tuesday, March 18, during halftime of the Bucks/Heat game at the Bradley Center, the Milwaukee Bucks will continue their season-long, 40th anniversary celebration of the greatest players to ever put on a Bucks uniform when they honor Brian Winters and re-dedicate his #32 retired jersey banner. The ceremony will be the fifth of the season so far: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar – Nov 21; Sidney Moncrief – Jan 19; Junior Bridgeman – Feb 9; Bob Lanier – February 20.
Winters joined the Bucks in 1975 from the Lakers along with Junior Bridgeman, David Meyers and Elmore Smith in exchange for Karee Abdul-Jabbar and Walt Wesley. The South Carolina alum went on to play eight seasons in Milwaukee and averaged 16.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists throughout his 582 games wearing his #32 Bucks jersey.
An All-Rookie selection with the Lakers, Winters was an All-Star in his first season in Milwaukee when he averaged 18.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists. He was also an All-Star in 1978 with averages of 19.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists. His 19.9 points and 4.9 assists that year were both career-highs. Winters had his share of individual success, but the Bucks also advanced to the postseason in six of his eight seasons with the squad.
Winters still ranks among the franchise leaders in points (9,743, eighth), field goals (4,131, sixth), games (582, fifth), assists (2,479, third), minutes (18,422, fifth), steals (718, fifth), free throw percentage (.843, ninth) and three-point field goal percentage (.363, tenth). One of the league’s best shooters during his playing days, Winters’ numbers probably would’ve been boosted had he had the three-point line his entire career. It came into existence after he had been in the league for five seasons.
Winters’ #32 was originally retired on October 28, 1983.
Euroleague.net reports: Another solid all-around game gave one of the highest-rated performers all season the Week 1 Euroleague MVP award in the Top 16 – even if he would have preferred a victory for his team. Lynn Greer of Olympiacos scored 26 points on 5-for-7 two-point and 7-for-8 free-throw shooting, but couldn’t prevent a 67-75 home loss against Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv on Thursday. Greer added 2 rebounds, 5 assists, a steal and 10 fouls drawn to amass a performance index rating of 31. Following him with the second-best performance this week was Drew Nicholas of Efes Pilsen, who paced his team to a major 74-64 home win against Panathinaikos. Nicholas scored 29 points, making 6 of 7 two-pointers and 5 of 12 three-pointers to go with 2 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals for a 29 index.
Milwaukee Bucks rookie guard Ramon (rah-MAHN) Sessions sustained a left hand fracture in the team practice on Friday, February 1, General Manager Larry Harris announced today. Sessions was originally assigned to the Tulsa 66ers on November 8, 2007, before being recalled from the Bucks D-League affiliate yesterday. He is expected to miss six weeks of action.
Sessions appeared in 24 games (17 starts) with Tulsa, averaging a team-high 21.1 points (6th in the D-League), a team-high 7.6 assists (3rd in the D-League) and 6.5 rebounds (19th in the D-League) in 36.2 minutes per contest. His points, rebounds and assists add up to 35.2 per game, eighth in the league. Sessions is the only player to be named the D-League Performer of the Week twice this season, claiming the award on November 26, 2007 and January 28, 2008.

Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld was the Bucks General Manager for four years prior to joining the Wizards; a stint that included three playoff berths and the drafting of current Bucks guard Michael Redd with the 43rd overall pick in the second round of the 2000 NBA Draft…Bucks forward/center Michael Ruffin played three seasons in Washington from 2004-07…Bucks swingman Awvee Storey was with the Wizards during the 2005-06 NBA campaign…Bucks forward Bobby Simmons was a Wizard from 2001-03.
Milwaukee Bucks General Manager Larry Harris announced today that the team has assigned forward/guard David Noel (6-6, 230) to the Tulsa 66ers (Okla.) of the NBA Development League. Tulsa is led by Head Coach Joey Meyer and has served as the Bucks D-League affiliate since the 2005-06 season. He’ll join Bucks rookie guard Ramon Sessions (6-3, 190), who is currently assigned to Tulsa.
“This is an opportunity for David to see regular minutes in game conditions that he wouldn’t necessarily receive in Milwaukee,” said Harris. “We are encouraged with how well Ramon has performed in Tulsa and are looking forward to seeing David’s continued progress in the D-League, too.”
Currently in his second NBA season, Noel has not appeared in a game for the Bucks this season, having missed 27 games with a right wrist injury and been inactive (11 games) or a coach’s decision (two games) for the other 13 contests this season for Milwaukee. As a rookie, Noel appeared in 68 games for the Bucks and averaged 2.7 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.0 assist per contest.
Sessions, 21, was selected by the Bucks with the 56th overall pick in the second round of the 2007 NBA Draft and was assigned to Tulsa on November 8, 2007. In 21 games for the 66ers, Sessions has averaged 19.9 points (13th in NBDL), 6.3 rebounds (T-21th) and 7.0 assists (T-4th). He also earned D-League Performer of the Week over the first weekend of the D-League schedule by posting 30.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists in two Tulsa victories. Sessions played three seasons at the University of Nevada as a point guard and earned Second Team All-WAC honors during his junior season, in addition to being a finalist for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award. During the 2006-07 season, he was third on the team in scoring (12.3), second in rebounding (4.7) and first in assists (4.7, second in the WAC).
