DeMarcus Cousins fined for using bad language towards fans

New Orleans Pelicans forward/center DeMarcus Cousins has been fined $50,000 for directing inappropriate language towards fans on separate occasions, it was announced today by Kiki VanDeWeghe, Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations.

The incidents occurred during the Pelicans’ 105-97 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, March 5 at Staples Center and at the conclusion of the Pelicans’ 88-83 loss to the Utah Jazz on Monday, March 6 at Vivint Smart Home Arena.

Pelicans sign Wayne Selden Jr to 10-day contract

The New Orleans Pelicans today signed free agent guard Wayne Selden Jr. to a 10-day contract.

Selden, 6-4, 232, has most recently played for the Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League, appearing in 35 games while posting averages of 18.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 30.6 minutes.

Selden will wear #25 for the Pelicans and be available for tonight’s contest vs. Toronto.

The Pelicans signed guard Jordan Crawford to a 10-day contract today.

Crawford, 6-5, 195, most recently played for the Grand Rapids Drive of the NBA Development League, appearing in 34 games this season while averaging 22.8 points on .470 shooting from the floor, including .372 from three-point range, 3.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals in 29.4 minutes per game.

Drafted 27th overall out of Xavier in 2010 by New Jersey, Crawford has appeared in 257 career regular season games with Atlanta, Washington, Boston and Golden State, averaging 12.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 24.7 minutes per contest.

Crawford will wear #4 for the Pelicans and is available for tonight’s game in Utah.

New Orleans Pelicans guard Jarrett Jack is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after suffering a right lateral meniscus tear.

Jack, 6-3, 200, was signed to a 10-day contract by New Orleans on February 24, and has appeared in two games, averaging 3.0 points and 2.5 assists in 16.5 minutes per game.

An 11-year NBA veteran, Jack has appeared in 805 career regular season games with Portland, Indiana, Toronto, New Orleans, Golden State, Cleveland and Brooklyn, averaging 11.0 points, 4.5 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 28.1 minutes per game.

The New Orleans Pelicans, who waived injured forward Omri Casspi earlier today, have signed free agent guard Reggie Williams to a 10-day contract.

Williams, 6-6, 210, previously appeared in five games for New Orleans this season after being signed on December 10, averaging 5.0 points while shooting .500 from three-point range, and 1.2 rebounds in 12.6 minutes per game. Williams has appeared in 27 games this season for the Oklahoma City Blue of the NBA Development League, averaging 18.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 33.3 minutes per contest.

Undrafted in 2008 out of Virginia Military Institute, Williams has appeared in 205 career regular season games with Golden State, Charlotte, Oklahoma City, San Antonio and New Orleans, averaging 7.8 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 18.1 minutes.

Williams will wear #5 and is available to play in tonight’s game at Dallas.

Casspi, 6-9, 225, was acquired from Sacramento along with DeMarcus Cousins on February 20. In his Pelicans debut, Casspi recorded 12 points and two rebounds in 24 minutes off the bench. Casspi has appeared in 23 total games this season, averaging 6.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 18.3 minutes per contest.

Undrafted in 2012 out of Georgetown University, Thompson has appeared in 256 regular season games (82 starts) with the Philadelphia 76ers between 2013-17, averaging 7.9 points while shooting .389 from three-point range, 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 24.3 minutes per game.

Jones, 6-9, 252, appeared in 51 games this season for the Pelicans (12 starts), averaging 11.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.0 blocks in 24.8 minutes per contest. The University of Kentucky product was originally signed by New Orleans on July 22, 2016.

Selected 18th overall in 2012, Jones has appeared in 229 career regular season games, averaging 10.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.2 blocks with New Orleans and Houston.
