Bucks sign Kendall Marshall to training camp contract

The Milwaukee Bucks have signed free agent guard Kendall Marshall to a training camp contract.

Marshall, 26, appeared in 21 games (18 starts) last season for the Reno Bighorns of the NBA G League and averaged 15.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 9.0 assists in 36.2 minutes per contest. He started in all five games this summer for Team USA in the FIBA AmeriCup tournament and averaged 3.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists for the Gold Medal winning squad.

A four-year NBA veteran, Marshall was the 13th overall selection in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns. He sports career averages of 5.0 points, 1.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists over 160 games (57 starts) with Phoenix, Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee and Philadelphia.

Kendall Marshall 76ers debut coming soon

Here’s the Philadelphia Inquirer reporting on the 76ers (1-20), who should have a bit of backcourt help coming soon. Whether Kendall Marshall (5.3 ppg during his three NBA seasons prior to this one) can help much is up for debate, but there’s room for him (or just about anyone) to step up in the Sixers’ backcourt:

Kendall Marshall should make 76ers debut soon

Kendall Marshall is on pace to make his 76ers debut on Thursday against Brooklyn at the Barclays Center.

The point guard, who signed as a free agent with the Sixers on Sept. 8, averaged 4.2 points and 3.1 assists in 28 games last season for Milwaukee. He, however, tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in January, and has been sidelined since.

Lakers sign guard Kendall Marshall

The 2013-14 Los Angeles Lakers have had a relatively successful season so far, when taking their roster and injuries into account. And today they added to their backcourt, which has been in desperate need of some healthy talent.

The Lakers signed guard Kendall Marshall to a multi-year contract, it was announced by General Manager Mitch Kupchak.

Marshall, a 6’4” point guard out of North Carolina, was originally selected 13th overall by the Phoenix Suns in the 2012 NBA Draft. In 48 career NBA games with the Suns, Marshall, who was traded to Washington in 2013, has averaged 3.0 points, 3.0 assists, and 0.9 rebounds in 14.6 minutes. A McDonald’s All-American in 2010, Marshall earned several honors while playing for the Tar Heels, including the Bob Cousy Award (2012) as the top college point guard, Second Team All-ACC (2012), Third Team All-ACC (2011) and All-ACC Freshman Team (2011). Additionally, the Dumfries, Virginia native set an ACC single-season record as a sophomore with 351 assists (4th most in NCAA history) and finished his career with 581 assists in 73 games (7.96 APG; highest average in UNC history).

Most recently, Marshall played for the Delaware 87ers of the NBA Development League, averaging 19.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 9.6 assists in seven games. In 16 career NBA D-League games with the 87ers and Bakersfield Jam, Marshall averaged 13.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 8.4 assists.

Washington Wizards waive Shannon Brown, Malcolm Lee and Kendall Marshall

Washington Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the team has waived guards Shannon Brown, Malcolm Lee and Kendall Marshall. The trio was acquired from Phoenix, along with center Marcin Gortat, in exchange for center Emeka Okafor and a 2014 protected first round draft pick.

Brown has averaged 8.1 points and 2.0 rebounds in 374 career games with Cleveland, Chicago, L.A. Lakers, Charlotte and Phoenix. Lee has averaged 4.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in 35 career games with Minnesota before being traded to Phoenix last summer. Marshall averaged 3.0 points and 3.0 assists during his rookie season with Phoenix last year.

The Wizards roster now stands at 15.
