Guard Tyler Ennis suffers broken leg while playing overseas

Guard Tyler Ennis, listed at 6-3, 194, selected mid first round in the 2014 NBA Draft, played college ball at Syracuse, played for the Bucks, Suns, Rockets and Lakers in the NBA between 2014-15 and 2017-18. But now in 2018-19 he’s playing overseas. And unfortunately has suffered a very nasty injury, as Euroleaguebasketball.net reports:

Fenerbahce Istanbul guard Tyler Ennis suffered a broken leg in a Turkish League game on Sunday that will keep him sidelined indefinitely. He went down during the first quarter of the game against Istanbul Arel University and was taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a broken tibia in his left leg.

Lakers waive Tyler Ennis

The Los Angeles Lakers have requested waivers on guard Tyler Ennis, it was announced last night.

Acquired via trade on February 23, 2017, Ennis averaged 5.2 points, 2.1 assists and 1.6 rebounds in 76 games (13 starts) for the Lakers.

The Lakers may do massive things in free agency in the next week or two. We’re all waiting to see if they land Kawhi Leonard in free agency, what LeBron James, Paul George and other top players decide, etc.

The Lakers have signed guard Tyler Ennis, General Manager Rob Pelinka announced today.

Ennis appeared in 22 games (two starts) for the Lakers last season, averaging 7.7 points, 2.4 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 17.8 minutes. In seven games played in April (two starts), Ennis scored in double-figures four times, tallying 11.3 points, 3.6 assists and 1.3 rebounds in 27.7 minutes.

Formerly the 18th overall selection in the 2014 NBA Draft, Ennis owns career averages of 4.2 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 132 games with the Suns, Bucks, Rockets and Lakers.

Rockets trade Tyler Ennis, Brad Newley draft rights to Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired guard Tyler Ennis and the draft rights to guard/forward Brad Newley from the Houston Rockets in exchange for guard Marcelo Huertas, it was announced today by President of Basketball Operations Earvin “Magic” Johnson.

Ennis has appeared in 31 games for the Rockets this season, averaging 1.9 points and 1.1 assists in 6.3 minutes per game. Formerly the 18th overall selection in the 2014 NBA Draft, he owns career averages of 3.5 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 110 games with Phoenix, Milwaukee and Houston.

Newley was selected by the Rockets with the 54th overall selection in the 2007 NBA Draft. A two-time representative for Australia’s Olympic team, he currently plays for AEK Athens in Greece.

Huertas averaged 3.9 points, 1.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 76 games with the Lakers.

Milwaukee Bucks General Manager John Hammond announced that guard Tyler Ennis underwent successful labral repair surgery to his right shoulder today. After consultation with Bucks orthopaedist Dr. Michael Gordon and Dr. David Altcheck from the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, the procedure was performed this morning in New York.

Ennis was acquired along with Miles Plumlee and Michael Carter-Williams on Feb. 19 in a three-team deal with Phoenix and Philadelphia. In 25 games (one start) this season for Milwaukee, Ennis averaged 4.0 points, 2.4 assists and 1.1 rebounds in 14.1 minutes per game.
