Pelicans waive Jeff Adrien, Bryce Dejean-Jones, Bo McCalebb

The New Orleans Pelicans announced today the team has waived forward Jeff Adrien and guards Bryce Dejean-Jones and Bo McCalebb.

Adrien, 6-7, 245, appeared in three preseason games, averaging 6.3 points and 6.0 rebounds. Adrien was originally signed by New Orleans on Sept. 23.

Dejean-Jones, 6-6, 209, was originally signed by the Pelicans on Aug. 20 and appeared in all seven of New Orleans’ preseason contests, averaging 8.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

McCalebb, 6-0, 183, appeared in four preseason games after being signed on Oct. 15. The New Orleans native averaged 2.8 points and 2.3 assists.

New Orleans’ roster currently stands at 14.

Timberwolves waive Lorenzo Brown, Kleon Penn, Nick Wiggins

The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team has waived guard Lorenzo Brown, center Kleon Penn and guard Nick Wiggins. With the moves, the Wolves training camp roster stands at 15 players.

Brown, originally signed by the Wolves to a 10-day contract on January 28, registered averages of 4.2 points, 1.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 13.1 minutes over five preseason contests. The 6’5 guard appeared in 29 games last season for the Wolves averaging 4.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 18.9 minutes per game. Brown was Minnesota’s second round selection (52nd overall) in the 2013 NBA Draft.

Penn, signed on September 18, appeared in three preseason games totaling one rebound in nine minutes.

Wiggins was signed by the Wolves on September 18. He played in four preseason contests registering seven points in 14 minutes.

Magic waive Nnanna Egwu

The Orlando Magic have waived center Nnanna Egwu (EGG-woo), General Manager Rob Hennigan announced following Friday’s preseason game. Orlando’s roster now stands at 14.

Egwu appeared in five preseason games with the Magic, averaging 1.2 ppg. and 3.2 rpg. in 8.4 minpg.

Orlando begins the 2015-16 regular season on Wednesday, October 28 at home against Washington (7 p.m.).

Hornets waive Sam Thompson, Jason Washburn, Damien Wilkins, Elliot Williams

Charlotte Hornets General Manager Rich Cho announced today that the team has waived forward Sam Thompson, center Jason Washburn, guard/forward Damien Wilkins and guard Elliot Williams.

Thompson (6-7, 200, Ohio State) signed with the Hornets on Sept. 15 and played in five preseason games. He averaged 0.8 points in 6.1 minutes per game. Washburn (7-0, 245, Utah) signed with Charlotte on Sept. 15 and appeared in four preseason contests, averaging 1.3 rebounds in 4.6 minutes per game. Wilkins (6-6, 225, Georgia), who signed with the Hornets on Oct. 16, played in three preseason games and posted averages of 5.0 points, 1.7 assists and 1.3 rebounds in 17.1 minutes per game. Williams (6-5, 180, Memphis) averaged 5.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 13.0 minutes per game in two preseason contests. He signed with Charlotte on July 28.

The team’s roster stands at 15.

Thunder exercise contract options on Steven Adams, Andre Roberson, Mitch McGary

The Oklahoma City Thunder exercised its fourth-year options on center Steven Adams and guard Andre Roberson in addition to its third-year option on forward Mitch McGary, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti.

In two seasons with the Thunder, Adams has appeared in 151 games (87 starts) and averaged 5.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 19.7 minutes per game. This past year, Adams registered 10 double-doubles and scored in double-figures on 22 occasions. Adams was named to the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge as part of All-Star Weekend in each of his first two seasons.

Over two seasons with Oklahoma City, Roberson has seen action in 107 games (81 starts) while compiling averages of 2.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.7 steals in 15.7 minutes per game. With Roberson in the starting line-up, the Thunder has gone 53-28 (.654) during the past two seasons.

During the 2014-15 season, McGary appeared in 32 games (two starts) and posted averages of 6.3 points and 5.2 rebound in 15.2 minutes per game. After registering back-to-back double-doubles in early February, McGary became the first Thunder rookie to accomplish such a feat since Russell Westbrook posted consecutive double-doubles during the 2008-09 season.

Cavs waive Austin Daye, D.J. Stephens, Dionte Christmas, Jack Cooley

The Cleveland Cavaliers have waived forward Austin Daye, guard/forward D.J. Stephens, guard Dionte Christmas and Forward Jack Cooley, Cavaliers General Manager David Griffin announced today from Cleveland Clinic Courts. The Cavs roster now stands at 16.

Daye appeared in six preseason games for the Cavs, averaging 5.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in 11.9 minutes per game.

Stephens appeared in four preseason games for the Cavs, averaging 3.3 points in 7.4 minutes per game.

Christmas appeared in four preseason games for the Cavs, averaging 6.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in 19.9 minutes per game.

Cooley appeared in two preseason games for the Cavs, averaging 4.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in 12.1 minutes per game.

Lakers waive Jonathan Holmes

The Los Angeles Lakers have waived forward Jonathan Holmes, it was announced today by General Manager Mitch Kupchak.

Holmes, an undrafted rookie out of the University of Texas, was originally signed by the Lakers on August 13. He appeared in two preseason games for Los Angeles, averaging 2.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 0.50 steals and 0.50 blocks in 7.5 minutes.

The Lakers roster now stands at 16.

Warriors waive Chris Babb, Jarell Eddie, Xavier Henry, Chris Udofia

The Golden State Warriors have waived guard Chris Babb, guard/forwards Jarell Eddie and Xavier Henry and forward Chris Udofia, the team announced today. The Warriors’ roster currently stands at 15 players.

Babb appeared in five preseason games for Golden State, averaging 2.6 points in 11.4 minutes. Eddie saw action in two preseason contests, tallying 4.5 points, 1.5 assists and 1.0 rebounds in 10.1 minutes. Both players were signed by the Warriors on September 25.

Henry and Udofia were signed by the Warriors on October 19 and did not appear in a preseason game.

Trail Blazers waive Phil Pressey and Omari Johnson

The Portland Trail Blazers have waived guard Phil Pressey and forward Omari Johnson, it was announced today by president of basketball operations Neil Olshey.

Pressey appeared in four preseason games for Portland, averaging 4.8 points and 2.0 assists.

Johnson also appeared in four preseason games averaging 2.3 points and 1.0 rebounds per game for the Trail Blazers.

Portland’s roster now stands at 15.
