Not exactly a basketball reality TV show, but…

There are no basketball reality TV shows that we know of on any television network these days, aside from the occasional NBA TV special that goes behind the scenes of various players, but a series in that general universe is coming to TBS in Spring of 2015: “The Smiths,” starring Kenny Smith along with his wife and kids.

It would be cool if an actual real basketball reality TV show existed — one that showed the reality of life as a baller, or agent or something. This sounds like it’ll mostly be about family.

Dwyane Wade says NBA dress code helped fashion sense

Dwyane Wade says NBA dress code helped fashion sense

David Stern might be responsible for the fashionable basketball players in the NBA – well, at least for Dwyane Wade.

The Miami Heat star says while he always was a fan of fine dressing, it wasn’t until the former commissioner of the league instituted a dress code that he started taking more interest in what he would wear off the court.

“It was like, `OK, now we got to really dress up and we can’t just throw on a sweat suit,”‘ he said. “Then it became a competition amongst guys and now you really got into it more and you started to really understand the clothes you put on your body, the materials you’re starting to wear, so then you become even more of a fan of it.”

Now Wade is considered among the more fashion-forward stars in a league where players dress to impress. Wade admits there’s some competition among the league – and sometimes they take it over the top in what they wear in postgame press conference.

His Airness was at the Stadium on Sunday afternoon, part of the Derek Jeter Day tribute before the Yankees fell to the Royals, 2-0.

“The thing I like about Derek, you see all the competitors and all his teammates [he’s played with], and I don’t think anybody can say one thing bad about Derek,” said Jordan, who wore a blue suit and was one of the last guests introduced, to raucous applause, during the ceremony. “He’s an idol to me, how he’s well respected in the game. He carries himself like every baseball player or professional athlete should. A very classy guy, very straightforward, very friendly.”

It was Jordan who handpicked Jeter to be part of the Jordan Brand line 15 years ago, taken with his professionalism, dedication and accomplishments.
