Thunder sign Jaylen Hoard to a 10-day contract

The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed forward Jaylen Hoard to a 10-day contract, via the NBA’s COVID-Related Hardship Allowance, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti.

Hoard (6-8, 216) is currently playing in his second season with the Thunder’s G League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Blue, appearing in 14 games while averaging 8.6 points on 50.5 percent shooting from the field along with 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 22.2 minutes per game.

The Le Havre, France native declared for the 2019 NBA Draft following his freshman season at Wake Forest and has played three seasons in the G League, owning career averages of 12.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 53 games.

Hawks sign Chris Clemons and Cameron Oliver to 10-day contracts

The Atlanta Hawks have signed Chris Clemons and Cameron Oliver to 10-day contracts.

Clemons most recently suited up for the Maine Celtics, Boston’s NBA G League affiliate, appearing in 14 games (three starts) notching 16.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.1 steals in 27.6 minutes (.439 FG%, .426 3FG%, 1.000 FT%). He has scored 10-or-more points in 11 of his 14 outings this season, including 20-or-more points six times.

The 5-9 guard, who appeared in 14 games (12 starts) with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers during the 2019-20 season, has seen action in 28 total NBA G League games (15 starts) over two seasons, averaging 20.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.3 steals in 30.8 minutes (.413 FG%, .362 3FG%, .890 FT%).

After going undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft, Clemons signed with the Houston Rockets, appearing in 33 regular season games, averaging 4.9 points in 8.8 minutes during the 2019-20 season (.401 FG%, .346 3FG%, .909 FT%). He scored a career-high 19 points on 7-11 shooting from the floor, including a 5-9 clip from the three-point line in 28 minutes of action on Nov. 16, 2019 (.636 FG%, .556 3FG%).

The Campbell University product saw action in 130 games (125 starts) over his four years suiting up for the Camels, averaging 24.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals in 34.1 minutes (.444 FG%, .363 3FG%, .852 FG%). Clemons finished his collegiate career third on the NCAA Division I all-time scoring list (3,225 points) and as one of only 10 players in NCAA Division I history to reach 3,000 career points.

Oliver comes to the Hawks from the South Bay Lakers of the NBA G League where he has seen action in 14 games (six starts), tallying 14.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.7 blocks in 27.8 minutes (.564 FG%, .318 3FG%, .583 FT%). He spent the 2021-22 preseason with the Los Angeles Lakers, appearing in five games averaging 2.4 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 7.9 minutes.

The Oakland, Calif. native signed with the Houston Rockets on May 10, 2021, seeing action in four regular season games, recording 10.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 block in 21.8 minutes (.576 FG%, .303 3FG%). He recorded a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double on May 16, 2021, against the Hawks.

Undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft, Oliver has three years of NBA G League experience, having played for the Wisconsin Herd (2017-18), Delaware Blue Coats (2017-19) and South Bay Lakers (2021-22). The 6-8 forward has appeared in 79 NBA G League contests (32 starts) owning career averages of 12.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.5 blocks in 25.5 minutes per game (.541 FG%, .315 3FG%, .668 FT%).

Internationally, Oliver has seen action in 67 games, starting in all but one contest over the span of two seasons. He has played for Cairns (Australia; 2019-20, 2020-21) and Ironi Nes Ziona (Israel; 2019-20).

Oliver played collegiately at Nevada for two seasons (2015-17), appearing in 73 games (66 starts) averaging 14.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 2.6 blocks in 30.6 minutes (.485 FG%, .369 3FG%, .678 FT%). He was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 and became the ninth player in program history to eclipse the 1,000-point plateau in his first two years at Nevada.

Clemons will wear No. 39, while Oliver will wear No. 49.

Cavaliers sign Malik Newman to a 10-day contract

The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed guard Malik Newman to a 10-day contract via the NBA’s hardship exception, Cavaliers General Manager Koby Altman announced today from Cleveland Clinic Courts.

Newman (6-3, 190) has appeared in 13 games (4 starts) this season for the Cleveland Charge, the Cavaliers’ exclusively owned and operated NBA G League affiliate, averaging 17.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 27.3 minutes per contest. Newman has appeared in 77 total games for the Charge during his career, appearing in 25 games in 2018-19 and 39 games (31 starts) during 2019-20 in addition to this season. Newman has played in one career NBA game for the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2019-20 season after receiving a 10-day contract.

Portland Trail Blazers sign Reggie Perry to a 10-day contract

The Portland Trail Blazers have signed forward/center Reggie Perry to a 10-day contract, via the NBA’s Hardship Exception.

Perry, 21, has appeared in 11 games (all starts) for the Raptors 905 of the NBA G League this season, posting averages of 19.7 points (47.8% FG, 37.7% 3-PT, 75.9% FT), 10.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.09 blocks in 32.0 minutes per game. Selected by the LA Clippers with the 57th pick of the 2020 NBA Draft and subsequently traded to Brooklyn, Perry (6-8, 250) averaged 3.0 points (41.0% FG, 19.0% 3-PT, 76.9% FT), 2.8 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 8.1 minutes in 26 appearances for the Nets last season. The Mississippi State product also played in 15 games (14 starts) for the Long Island Nets of the NBA G League in 2020-21, averaging 18.1 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists.

He will wear No. 18 for the Trail Blazers.

Detroit Pistons sign Trayvon Palmer and Justin Robinson to 10-day contracts

The Detroit Pistons have signed Trayvon Palmer and Justin Robinson to 10-day contracts, using the COVID-related hardship allowance.

Palmer, 6-6, 185, has appeared in 14 games this season (12 starts) with the Motor City Cruise, the Detroit Pistons’ NBA G League affiliate. He posted averages of 11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists in 34 minutes per game.

Palmer has spent the last three seasons in the G League, appearing in 81 games (37 starts) with the Northern Arizona Suns, Santa Cruz Warriors and Raptors 905. He holds career averages of 8.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 24.7 minutes per game.

Prior to his time in the G League, Palmer spent three years at Chicago State University. He appeared in 92 games (72 starts), averaging 10.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 30.3 minutes per game.

He will wear No. 31 for the Pistons.

Robinson, 6-1, 195, has two years of NBA experience, posting clips of 2.2 points and 1.0 assist in 9.2 minutes over 38 games. The former Virginia Tech Hokie spent his rookie season with the Washington Wizards, before appearing in games with Oklahoma City, Toronto, Milwaukee and most recently Sacramento.

He has also spent time in the G League, appearing in 47 games (38 starts) with Raptors 905, Capital City Go Go, Delaware Blue Coats and Wisconsin Herd. Robinson holds G League averages of 14.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 5.9 assists in 31.1 minutes per game.

He will wear No. 34 for the Pistons.

Houston Rockets sign DeJon “Deeky” Jarreau to a 10-day contract

The Houston Rockets have signed guard DeJon “Deeky” Jarreau to a 10-day contract, using a hardship exemption.

Jarreau (6-5, 185) was eligible for the 2021 NBA Draft following his senior season at the University of Houston. After averaging 11.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.8 assists for Miami during NBA Summer League, Jarreau signed as a two-way player with Indiana on Aug. 24.

The New Orleans native appeared in one game for the Pacers and 10 games while assigned to their NBA G League affiliate, Fort Wayne. He averaged 9.7 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.9 rebounds for the Mad Ants while shooting 38.1% from 3-point range.

Jarreau earned American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors in his final season with the Cougars and helped lead the team to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament.

He will wear No. 33 for the Rockets.

Pelicans sign Feron Hunt, and void Anthony Tolliver’s contract

The New Orleans Pelicans have signed forward Feron Hunt to a 10-day contract, via the COVID hardship exception.

In a related move, the Pelicans voided the contract of Anthony Tolliver, who was just signed a day ago but has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

Hunt, 6-8, 195, has appeared in 12 contests (eight starts) this season with the Texas Legends of the NBA G League, averaging 15.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 2.1 steals in 32.9 minutes per game.

Hunt appeared in 78 career games (41 starts) during three seasons at Southern Methodist University (2018-21), averaging 9.6 points and 6.8 rebounds in 26.3 minutes per game. In his 2020-21 campaign, he averaged 11.1 points, 7.9 rebounds (3rd in AAC), 2.1 offensive rebounds (6th in AAC), and 5.9 defensive boards (2nd in AAC). Hunt shot .560 from the floor (4th in AAC) and earned All-AAC Third-Team Honors.

Hunt will wear #44 with the Pelicans.

New Orleans’s roster now stands at 20 players, including two two-way players.

Atlanta Hawks sign Justin Tillman to a 10-day contract

The Atlanta Hawks have signed forward Justin Tillman to a 10-day contract.

Tillman joins the Hawks from the College Park Skyhawks, Atlanta’s NBA G League affiliate, where he has appeared in 14 games (nine starts), tallying 13.1 points and 7.5 rebounds in 22.0 minutes per contest (.590 FG%, .619 FT%). At the NBA G League Showcase, Tillman recorded back-to-back double-doubles, averaging 24.0 points and 16.0 rebounds in 26.5 minutes (.700 FG%, .600 FT%).

The 6-8 forward saw action in eight games (two starts) for the Memphis Hustle during the 2018-19 season. In total, he has appeared in 22 career NBA G League contests (11 starts), averaging 11.5 points and 6.7 rebounds in 20.6 minutes (.551 FG%).

After going undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft, Tillman suited up for the Miami Heat during the 2018 NBA Summer League and then with the Phoenix Suns in 2019 (Summer League), appearing in three contests over those two summers.

Tillman has played in 62 international games over the course of three seasons, playing for Wonju Dongbu Promy (South Korea; 2018-19), Hapoel Galil Gilboa (Israel; 2019-20), Hapoel Tel Aviv (Israel; 2020-21), Banco di Sardegna Sassari (Italy; 2020-21) and Bursaspor (Turkey; 2020-21).

The Detroit, Mich. native enjoyed a four-year playing career at VCU, appearing in 137 games (61 starts), registering 10.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in 21.0 minutes (.573 FG%, .318 3FG%, .610 FT%). He was named to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team, All-Defensive Team and All-Championship Team as a senior, after averaging career highs of 18.9 points and 9.9 rebounds in 30.6 minutes (.557 FG%, .329 3FG%, .654 FT%).

Tillman will wear No. 36.

Thunder sign Rob Edwards, Scotty Hopson and Olivier Sarr to 10-day contracts

The Oklahoma City Thunder has signed guard Rob Edwards, guard Scotty Hopson and center Olivier Sarr to 10-day contracts, via the NBA’s COVID-Related Hardship Allowance.

Edwards (6-5, 205) has averaged 12.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 21.2 minutes per game over two seasons (2020-22) with the Thunder’s G League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Blue. This year the Detroit native is averaging 12.3 points while knocking down a team-best 2.3 three-pointers and is second on the team with a 90.5 free-throw percentage.

Hopson (6-7, 204) has spent this season with the Oklahoma City Blue, appearing in 11 games (four starts) while averaging 6.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 20.5 minutes per game. The Tennessee product has played in 95 career G League games (75 starts) and owns career averages of 16.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 29.2 minutes per game.

Sarr (7-0, 240) has appeared in 14 games for the Oklahoma City Blue and is averaging 7.1 points on 52.2 percent shooting, 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists in 14.1 minutes of action. A native from France, Sarr played three seasons at Wake Forest before transferring to Kentucky and collected Third Team All-ACC honors and was named a runner-up for ACC Most Improved Player.

Magic sign Hassani Gravett and Admiral Schofield to second 10-day contracts

The Orlando Magic have signed guard Hassani Gravett and forward Admiral Schofield to second 10-day contracts, President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced today.

Both were originally signed to 10-day contracts via hardship exceptions by the NBA on December 17.

Orlando has four players (Mo Bamba, Mychal Mulder, Chuma Okeke and Terrence Ross) currently out due to league Health and Safety Protocols.

Gravett (#12, 6’2”, 190, 7/16/96) has played in five games (two starts) with Orlando, averaging 7.6 ppg., 3.4 rpg. and 2.4 apg. in 24.8 minpg. He has also played and started 12 games this season with Lakeland of the NBA G League, averaging 13.6 ppg., 5.2 rpg., 2.8 apg. and 1.83 stlpg. in 34.5 minpg.

Gravett signed as a free agent with Orlando on Sep. 8, 2021 and played in three preseason games with the Magic, averaging 5.0 ppg. and 1.3 rpg. in 10.2 minpg., before being waived on Oct. 16. He appeared in 12 games during the 2020-21 campaign with MZT Skopje of the Macedonian League, averaging 12.4 ppg., 4.0 rpg., 3.1 apg. and 1.17 stlpg. in 25.4 minpg. Gravett helped MZT Skopje win the 2020-21 Macedonian League championship and the 2021 North Macedonian Basketball Cup.

Gravett has appeared in 54 career NBA G League regular season games (40 starts), all with Lakeland, averaging 12.1 ppg., 4.4 rpg., 3.7 apg. and 1.20 stlpg. in 31.6 minpg., while shooting .364 (95-261) from three-point range.

Gravett played in 97 career games (30 starts) during three seasons (2016-19) at the University of South Carolina, averaging 7.2 ppg., 3.0 rpg. and 2.4 apg. in 23.8 minpg. During the 2018-19 season, he played in 32 games (five starts), averaging 11.4 ppg., 3.8 rpg. and 2.4 apg. in 29.6 minpg., while shooting .399 (65-163) from three-point range and was named SEC Sixth Man of the Year by the conference’s coaches.

Schofield (#25, 6’5”, 240, 3/30/97) has played in five games (one start) with Orlando, averaging 5.8 ppg., 2.6 rpg. and 1.0 apg. in 17.2 minpg. He has also played in 12 games (10 starts) this season with Lakeland of the NBA G League, averaging 14.4 ppg., 7.2 rpg. and 1.8 apg. in 33.0 minpg.

Schofield signed as a free agent with Orlando on Sep. 21, 2021. He played in two preseason games with the Magic, averaging 1.5 ppg. in 5.8 minpg., before being waived on Oct. 16. Schofield played in 14 games (11 starts) during the 2020-21 campaign with Greensboro of the NBA G League, averaging 10.1 ppg., 5.7 rpg. and 2.1 apg. in 26.2 minpg.

Originally selected in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2019 NBA Draft by Philadelphia, Schofield has played in 33 career NBA regular season games (two starts) with Washington, averaging 3.0 ppg. and 1.4 rpg. in 11.2 minpg. He has also appeared in 59 career NBA G League regular season games (54 starts) with Capital City, Greensboro and Lakeland, averaging 14.3 ppg., 5.9 rpg. and 2.0 apg. in 30.2 minpg.

Schofield played in 132 career games (94 starts) during four seasons at the University of Tennessee (2015-19), averaging 11.9 ppg., 5.3 rpg. and 1.3 apg. in 24.9 minpg., while shooting .387 (184-476) from three-point range. As a senior (2018-19), he played and started in 37 games, averaging 16.5 ppg., 6.1 rpg. and 2.0 apg. in 31.7 minpg., while shooting .418 (74-177) from three-point range. He was named to the All-SEC First Team by the conference coaches, earned All-SEC Tournament Team honors and was also an honorable mention All-American by Associated Press. As a junior (2017-18), Schofield was named to the All-SEC Second Team by the conference coaches and earned All-SEC Tournament Team honors.
