Nuggets sign Chasson Randle, waive Adonis Arms

The Denver Nuggets have signed guard Chasson Randle to an Exhibit 10 contract and have requested waivers on guard Adonis Arms, General Manager Calvin Booth announced today.

Randle, 6-3, 185, has appeared in 119 games (seven starts) over four seasons with Philadelphia, New York, Golden State and Orlando. He holds career averages of 5.7 points, 1.8 assists and 1.4 rebounds in 16.1 minutes per game while shooting 40.1% from the field and 36.1% from three. Randle went undrafted in the 2015 NBA draft after spending four seasons at Stanford University.

Arms, 6-5, 200, signed a contract with the Nuggets on July 9th and appeared in five games for their Summer League team in Las Vegas, holding averages of 9.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 54.8% from the field. Arms went undrafted in the 2022 NBA draft after spending his senior season at Texas Tech.

Randle will wear #7 for the Nuggets and is available for tonight’s game vs. Phoenix.

Denver Nuggets sign General Manager Calvin Booth to contract extension

The Denver Nuggets have signed General Manager Calvin Booth to a multi-year contract extension, KSE Vice Chairman Josh Kroenke announced today.

“Calvin has been a huge part of what we’ve done here over the last five seasons and I have the utmost confidence in him as our General Manager,” said Kroenke. “Cal has seen the game from every angle and has an extremely bright basketball mind. I look forward to continuing alongside Calvin and the rest of the organization with the goal of bringing an NBA championship to the city of Denver.”

Per the Denver Post, the deal “will keep him in Denver through at least the 2024-25 season, league sources said. In addition, the majority of the staff received extensions through the 2024-25 season, sources said, adding stability to Denver’s front office moving forward. Booth took over this past summer as GM following the abrupt departure of former president of basketball operations Tim Connelly to Minnesota.”

Booth, 46, enters his sixth season with the Nuggets after being hired as Assistant General Manager in the summer of 2017 and promoted to General Manager in 2020. Since arriving in Denver, Booth has played an integral part in the scouting and drafting process as well as the free agent and trade markets. His first off-season as lead decision maker saw him bring in veteran NBA champion Kentavius Caldwell-Pope, veterans Ish Smith and DeAndre Jordan and versatile wing Bruce Brown along with rookie draft picks Christian Braun, Peyton Watson and Ismael Kamagate.

Prior to arriving in Denver, Booth spent four seasons (2013 – 2017) in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ front office, initially as a scout before rising through the ranks to Director of Player Personnel. Booth also served as a scout for the New Orleans Pelicans during the 2012-13 season before transitioning to Minnesota.

Before beginning his front office career, Booth played for seven different teams over a 10-year career in the NBA. He appeared in 366 games (83 starts), averaging 3.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.00 blocks per game. The Reynoldsburg, OH native was drafted by the Washington Wizards in the second round (35th overall) of the 1999 NBA Draft after playing four years at Penn State University where he was named Big 10 Defensive Player of the Year in 1998.

2022-23 Denver Nuggets preseason game schedule

The Denver Nuggets will play a five-game preseason schedule that kicks off at Ball Arena against the Oklahoma City Thunder on October 3rd.

Denver will head on the road for one game to face Chicago before returning home to play Phoenix on October 10th. The Nuggets will wrap up their preseason with two road games in the state of California, first against the Clippers in Ontario at Toyota Arena on the 12th and finishing against the reigning NBA Champion Warriors at Chase Center in San Francisco on the 14th.

Nuggets sign Jack White to two-way contract

The Denver Nuggets have signed forward Jack White to a two-way contract, General Manager Calvin Booth announced today.

White, 6-7, 222, appeared in five games (one start) for the Nuggets 2022 Las Vegas Summer League entry, averaging 7.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks om 69.6% shooting in 17.1 minutes per game.

The Canberra, Australia native went undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft after spending four years at Duke University where he appeared in 103 games (10 starts) and averaged 2.7 points and 3.0 rebounds in 13.6 minutes per game.

The 24-year-old has also played three seasons professionally in the Australian NBL league, appearing in two games for Cairns in 2015-16 and playing for the Melbourne United from 2020-22 following his time at Duke.

Most recently White appeared in 26 games (23 starts) for Melbourne, averaging 9.4 points and 6.9 rebounds in 23.4 minutes per game.

White will wear #41 for the Nuggets.

Nuggets sign Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to contract extension

The Denver Nuggets have signed guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to a multi-year contract extension, General Manager Calvin Booth announced today.

Caldwell-Pope’s extension is reportedly for two years, $30 million.

Caldwell-Pope, 29, was recently acquired by Denver via trade from Washington. He appeared in 77 games (all starts) for the Wizards last season, averaging 13.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.10 steals per game on 39.0% shooting from three and 89.0% from the charity stripe in 30.2 minutes per game. In four of the past five seasons the sharpshooting guard has shot 38%-or-better from beyond the arc while ranking in the top 10 in catch and shoot three-point percentage over the past two seasons (41.0%) and in the top 10 on open three-pointers last season (44.8%).

Caldwell-Pope has appeared in 683 career games (541 starts) for Detroit, L.A. Lakers and Washington, owning career averages of 11.6 points, 3.1 rebounds 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 42.1% from the field and 36.0% from three in 29.2 minutes per game. Caldwell-Pope was an integral part to the Lakers championship run in 2020, starting all 21 playoff games and averaging 10.7 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 29.0 minutes per game. The nine-year NBA veteran was originally selected with the eighth overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by Detroit after spending two seasons at the University of Georgia.

Nuggets sign DeAndre Jordan

The Denver Nuggets have signed center DeAndre Jordan.

Jordan’s contract is reportedly a one-year deal for the league minimum.

Jordan, 6-11, 265, appeared in 48 games (20 starts) for the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers last season, averaging 4.3 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 64.3% from the field in 13.0 minutes per game. He also played in three playoff games for the Sixers (two starts), averaging 3.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in 10.3 minutes.

The 14-year NBA veteran has appeared in 980 career games (776 starts) for the Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas, New York, Brooklyn, Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia. He holds career averages of 9.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 assists in 26.7 minutes per game. Jordan has been named All-NBA First Team once (2015-16) and All-NBA Third Team twice (2014-15, 2015-16) while being named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team two times (2014-15, 2015-16). He earned an All-Star selection as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers in 2017 as well.

The 33-year-old native of Houston, TX was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 35th overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft after playing one season at Texas A&M.

Denver Nuggets re-sign Davon Reed

The Denver Nuggets have signed guard Davon Reed to a multiyear contract, General Manager Calvin Booth announced today.

Reed, 6-5, 208, appeared in 48 games (five starts) for the Nuggets in 2021-22, averaging 4.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists while shooting 50.3% from the field and 43.0% from three in 13.9 minutes. Reed signed a total of three 10-day contracts with Denver (12/4, 12/9 and 12/30) before being signed to a two-way contract for the remainder of the season.

He also appeared in eight games (all starts) with the Nuggets’ G-League affiliate Grand Rapids Gold, averaging 15.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.90 steals in 35.8 minutes per game. He played for the Nuggets in both last year’s preseason and Las Vegas Summer League entries as well.

Reed, 27, previously appeared in 31 career NBA games for the Phoenix Suns (21 games in 2017-18) and Indiana Pacers (10 games in 2018-19). He has appeared in 94 career G-League games (89 starts) for Northern Arizona, Fort Worth, Sioux Falls and Grand Rapids, averaging 13.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game.

The New Jersey Native was drafted with the 32nd overall pick in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft. He spent four years at the University of Miami where he was named to the ACC All-Defensive Team and ACC All-Third Team in 2017.

Nuggets sign Bruce Brown

The Denver Nuggets on Thursday, July 7 signed guard Bruce Brown to a multiyear contract, General Manager Calvin Booth announced.

Brown, 6-4, 202, appeared in 72 games (45 starts) for the Brooklyn Nets last season, averaging a career-high 9.0 points while posting 4.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals in 24.6 minutes per game. Brown shot 50.6% from the field and set career-highs in three-point FG’s (38) and three-point percentage (40.4%). He also appeared in four playoff games (four starts), averaging 14.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals in 34.8 minutes per game.

The four-year NBA veteran has appeared in 269 career games (181 starts) for Detroit and Brooklyn, holding career averages of 7.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists, shooting 48.2% from the field and 32.7% from three in 23.4 minutes per game.

The 25-year-old native of Boston, Massachusetts was selected with the 42nd overall pick by Detroit in the 2018 NBA draft after playing two seasons at the University of Miami where he was teammates alongside Nuggets guard Davon Reed.

Nuggets re-sign Vlatko Cancar

The Denver Nuggets have signed forward Vlatko Cancar to a multiyear contract, General Manager Calvin Booth announced today.

Čančar, 6-8, 235, has appeared in 70 games (two starts) for Denver over the past three seasons, averaging 2.3 points and 1.3 rebounds in 7.2 minutes per game. Čančar dealt with injuries throughout the 2021-22 season, appearing in 15 games while averaging 4.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists on .583 shooting from three-point range.

Before originally signing with Denver in 2019, The 25-year-old native of Slovenia played for the San Pablo Burgos in the Spanish ACB league during the 2018-19 season. He appeared in 34 games (22 starts) and averaged 10.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 22.9 minutes per game. He was named to the Spanish ABC Best Young Team after his solid season which highlights the most promising young prospects in their league. Prior to his time with the San Pablo Burgos, Čančar played multiple seasons for KK Mega Bemax of the Adriatic League and was named the 2017-18 Round 18 MVP.

Čančar was originally selected by Denver with the 49th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Nuggets sign rookies Christian Braun and Peyton Watson

The Denver Nuggets have signed rookie first round draft picks Christian Braun and Peyton Watson, General Manager Calvin Booth announced today.

Braun, 6-7, 218, played three seasons and appeared in 101 games (74 starts) for the University of Kansas, averaging 10.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals while shooting 50.8% from the field and 37.8% from three. He was named to the 2022 All-Big 12 Second Team and NCAA Tournament All-Midwest Region Team while helping Kansas capture the 2021-2022 NCAA National Championship. Braun played 40 minutes in the championship game, posting 12 points, 12 rebounds and three assists. He became Kansas’ 65th all-time 1,000-point scorer in KU’s Final Four semifinal win against Villanova.

Watson, 6-8, 200, played in 32 games, averaging 3.3 and 2.9 rebounds in 12.7 minutes per game for UCLA as a freshman. He was named as an honorable mention Pac-12 All-Freshman Team selection and ranked second on the team in blocked shots (19). He also helped lead the USA Men’s Basketball U19 Team win the gold medal at the FIBA U19 World Cup in July 2021.

Both players will appear on Denver’s 2022 Las Vegas Summer League entry. Braun will wear #0 and Watson will wear #8 for the Nuggets.
