The rumor that the Golden State Warriors might move to San Francisco is recycled every few years.

But this time, it has a chance to happen.

Potential buyers of the team have asked the San Francisco Giants about building a state-of-the-art arena in Mission Bay, south of AT&T Park, sources say.

The team is on the verge of finishing an agreement that would give the Giants exclusive negotiating rights with the Port Commission to develop the parking lot behind AT&T Park. So if you want to talk about an arena in what the team is calling the Mission Rock District, you need to speak to the Giants.

The Golden State Warriors have signed forward Reggie Williams for the remainder of the season, the team announced today.

Williams, 23, has appeared in 11 games with Golden State, averaging 12.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 24.1 minutes per contest, while shooting 53.0% (53-100 FG) from the field, 48.6% (17-35 3FG) from long range and 90.0% (18-20 FT) from the line. He registered a career-high 28 points in 34 minutes at New Orleans on March 8, and scored 18 fourth quarter points – including 4-of-5 three-pointers – en route to a 22-point performance in the Warriors victory over New Orleans on March 17. A 6-6, 210-pound forward, Williams signed his first 10-day with the Warriors on March 2 as a free agent call-up from the NBA Development League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce, and signed a second 10-day on March 12.

In a related move, the Warriors have waived guard Raja Bell. The Warriors roster now stands at 15 players.

The Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA) have retained Galatioto Sports Partners (“GSP”) to conduct a sale of the team, it was announced today.  GSP, acting as the Club’s exclusive financial advisor, will manage all aspects of the sales process.  As such, all related inquiries should be made directly to GSP.

The Golden State Warriors are lowering the price of tickets for Season Ticket Holders in every seating category at Oracle Arena for the 2010-11 NBA season as part a Loyalty Pricing program, the team announced today.  Current Season Ticket Holders, who began receiving their renewal invoices over the weekend, will be able to renew their seats for next season at 43-game price totals that have been decreased 8%-28% from the 2009-10 campaign.

“This is the right thing to do,” said Warriors’ President Robert Rowell.  “We have had constant communication with our Season Ticket Holders throughout the season and we are committed to addressing their needs and concerns.  We have the best fans in the NBA and we are determined to ensure that their experience as Warriors’ Season Ticket Holders is not only more affordable, but also worthy of the loyalty they have demonstrated to us over the years.”

Of the 16 price categories, 14 will realize a decrease of more than 12% as part of the new Loyalty Pricing structure, and eight (8) – or half of the categories – will see a decrease of at least 15%.  The largest percentage decrease in the lower level is a 24.62% decrease in the corner sections and the largest percentage decrease in the building is a 28% decrease in the upper level.

All Season Ticket Holders who place a deposit on their seats for next season by April 12 will be able to take advantage of the Loyalty Pricing.  Those who choose not to take advantage of Loyalty Pricing will still be able to renew their seats for 2010-11 at the same price that they paid this season as part of a Price Freeze program.  Additionally, all Season Ticket Holders have the option to pay off their seats via an installment plan, in which they will have up to eight months (April to November) to pay their due balance.

The Golden State Warriors have signed forward Reggie Williams to a second 10-day contract, the team announced today.

Williams, 23, has appeared in six games with Golden State since being called-up from the NBA Development League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce on March 2, averaging 12.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 23.5 minutes per game, while shooting 52.6% from the field, 40.0% from three-point range and 81.8% from the line.

The Warriors roster remains at 16 players — over the league maximum due to injuries.
