Bucks trade Tyronn Lue to Magic for Keith Bogans

The Orlando Magic have acquired guard Tyronn Lue from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for guard-forward Keith Bogans and cash considerations, General Manager Otis Smith announced today.

“Tyronn is a veteran point guard who fits in well with our style of play,” said Smith.  “He shoots well from three-point range and adds needed depth at that position.  We thank Keith for everything he gave to us and wish him all the best.”

Lue (6’0”, 175, 5/3/77) has played in 30 games this season for Milwaukee, averaging 4.7 ppg., 1.5 apg. and 1.2 rpg. in 13.1 minpg.  He is shooting .467 (21-of-45) from three-point range and has scored in double figures three times, including a season-high 14 points on Nov. 24 @ Orlando.  Lue led (or tied) the Bucks in assists three times.

Lue returns for a second stint with Orlando.  He played in 76 games (69 starts) for the Magic in 2003-04, averaging 10.5 ppg., 4.2 apg. and 2.5 rpg. in 30.7 minpg.  Lue was a member of the Los Angeles Lakers when they won back-to-back NBA Championships in 1999-2000 and 2000-01.

Lakers, Washington, Orlando, Houston, Atlanta, Sacramento, Dallas and Milwaukee), averaging 8.6 ppg., 3.2 apg. and 1.7 rpg. in 23.0 minpg.  Lue has also shot .392 (454-of-1,158) from beyond the three-point arc during his career.

Bogans, 28, has appeared in 35 games this season for the Orlando Magic and averaged 5.4 points and 3.1 rebounds in 22.3 minutes per game.  Last season, Bogans played in all 82 games for the Magic and tallied 8.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 26.8 minutes.  He shot a career-high 41.1 percent from the field, including 36.2 percent from the three-point arc, connecting on a career-high 148-of-409 attempts.  Bogans appeared in all 10 of Orlando’s post-season contests in 2008 and averaged 7.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 29.3 minutes.

Originally drafted by Milwaukee in the second round of the 2003 NBA Draft (43rd overall), Bogans was traded to Orlando on draft night for cash considerations.  His resume spans five-plus NBA seasons and includes time spent with Orlando, Charlotte and Houston.  In 395 career games, he has averaged 7.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.

In 36 games this season, Bogut is averaging 11.7 points, 10.3 rebounds (11th in NBA), 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocked shot in 31.2 minutes per game.

Carter triple-double, Nets beat Bucks 99-85

The AP reports: This was not the homecoming Richard Jefferson envisioned. Vince Carter made sure of that. “R.J. was being R.J.,” Carter said. “So we had a good time with him.” Carter had 15 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds for his fifth career triple double, and the New Jersey Nets spoiled Jefferson’s return with a 99-85 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night… Although he started off the night by missing his first three shots, Jefferson finished by hitting 7-of-16 from the field to lead Milwaukee with 27 points… Brook Lopez had 22 points and 12 rebounds to complement Carter, who had his third triple-double with the Nets and first since April 4, 2002, against Washington.

Villanueva has 27 to lead Bucks past Hawks 110-107

The AP reports: Charlie Villanueva scored 27 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had a season-high six assists to help the Milwaukee Bucks edge the Atlanta Hawks 110-107 Saturday night… Richard Jefferson and Ramon Sessions each had 20 for the Bucks who won their fourth in a row over the Hawks at home. Villanueva was 8-of-15 from the floor, including four-of-seven from 3-point range, in 42 minutes… Mike Bibby led Atlanta with 24 points and Joe Johnson, picked as a reserve to the Eastern Conference All-Star team for the third consecutive season, scored 22, including the 10,000th of his career. But the Hawks failed to snap a three-game losing streak in Milwaukee. Josh Smith scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Flip Murray came scored 18.

Bogut returns as Bucks beat Raptors 96-85

The AP reports: Without Michael Redd’s scoring punch, the Milwaukee Bucks hope a stifling defense can carry them into the playoffs. It was good enough to shut down the Toronto Raptors. Charlie Villanueva had 26 points and 13 rebounds, Richard Jefferson added 17 points and the Bucks beat the Raptors 96-85 Friday night, their first win since leading scorer Redd suffered a season-ending knee injury… Bogut returned to the lineup against the Raptors after missing eight games with back spasms and scored 13 points. Luke Ridnour added 15 points for Milwaukee.

Luke Ridnour suffers concussion

The Bucks are in Toronto today preparing for tomorrow night’s 6:00 p.m. (CT) tilt with the Raptors.  The game can be seen on FS Wisconsin and heard on AM 620 WTMJ and the Bucks statewide radio network.

In last night’s loss to Indiana, Luke Ridnour received a blow to the face in the fourth period that resulted in a bloody nose.  Ridnour left the game and was examined by Indiana doctors.  The exam revealed a mild concussion and Ridnour did not return to the game.  Ridnour was evaluated this morning and has been cleared to play tomorrow night.

Ridnour will be listed as probable and joins Andrew Bogut (day-to-day; lower back spasms) and Michael Redd (out; left knee injury) on the Bucks injury report.

Ford drives Pacers past Bucks 107-99

The AP reports: T.J. Ford’s driving skills keep improving. Even when Danny Granger isn’t around to help co-pilot—and even though his ailing back still isn’t 100 percent. The veteran guard maneuvered around Milwaukee’s standstill defense Wednesday night, repeatedly exploiting the gaps to match a career high with 34 points and leading the Pacers past his former team 107-99… Ford wasn’t the only Indiana player who exploited the middle of Milwaukee’s defense. Jarrett Jack followed Ford into the lane, finishing with 14 points. Mike Dunleavy and Rasho Nesterovic also had 14 each… So Charlie Villanueva and Richard Jefferson produced the points. Villanueva finished with 28 points and eight rebounds before fouling out. Jefferson added 19 points and guard Ramon Sessions had 16 points.

Jefferson’s double-double leads Wolves over Bucks

The AP reports: Al Jefferson had 23 points and 10 rebounds as he roamed the paint freely and Ryan Gomes added 22 points, lifting the Timberwolves over the short-handed Bucks 90-83. Minnesota improved to an NBA-best 10-2 in 2009 and Jefferson thwarted the Bucks when it counted in the fourth quarter with Milwaukee also missing center Andrew Bogut for the seventh straight game with back spasms… Richard Jefferson, who finished 3-of-15 from the field, hit a jumper, but Al Jefferson answered when he kicked out a pass to Gomes for a 3-pointer as the shot clock expired with 1:46 left… Milwaukee’s Ramon Sessions, who had 18 points replacing Redd, said Gomes’ shot was deflating.

Michael Redd out for season with torn left knee

Milwaukee Bucks General Manager John Hammond announced today that guard Michael Redd will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee during the third period of the Bucks win over Sacramento on Saturday, January 24.

Redd, 29, underwent an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) exam this morning.  After evaluation and further testing by Bucks orthopaedic physician Dr. Mike Gordon, M.D., it was determined that Redd will miss the remainder of the season.  Surgery to repair the injury will be scheduled at a date to be determined.

“I’m deeply disappointed but everything in life happens for a reason and this is God’s plan for me,” said Redd.  “I have faith in my teammates and coaches to continue to work together to make our fans proud.  I will be supporting them wholeheartedly from the sidelines and working equally hard to return to the court in the best condition possible for next season.

“A special thank you to all our fans for their great support this season – my 9th as a Milwaukee Buck.  Our team still has work to do and I know with our collective support we can cheer them on to a special season.”

In 33 games this season (32 starts), Redd averaged a team-high 21.2 points with 3.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steal in 36.5 minutes.

Saturday’s game was Redd’s 550th in a Bucks uniform – 8th in Milwaukee history.  This season, he moved into 5th on the Bucks all-time scoring list, passing the 11,000 point mark at Charlotte on January 3; 5th in minutes played and 8th in field goals made.  He stands 184 points behind Bob Dandridge for 4th all-time in franchise scoring (11,478); 31 field goals made behind Sidney Moncrief for 7th all-time (4,000); 34 free throws behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for 2nd all-time (2,374); and 19 games behind Glenn Robinson for 7th all-time (568).
