Roy leads Blazers past Jazz for 4th straight win

The AP reports: Brandon Roy scored 30 points to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to their fourth straight victory, 122-108 over the Utah Jazz on Saturday night… Nicolas Batum had 16 points and Joel Przybilla added 14 points and 17 rebounds as all 12 players cored for Portland, with six reaching double figures. LaMarcus Aldridge also scored 14 points, Rudy Fernandez had 13, and Travis Outlaw 11… Deron Williams scored a season-high 35 points on 12-for-18 shooting for the Jazz, who were 54 percent from the field. Mehmet Okur had 18 points and seven rebounds.

Williams scores 24 to get Jazz over Thunder 110-90

The AP reports: Deron Williams had 24 points and 12 assists and the Utah Jazz snapped a four-game losing streak with a 110-90 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night… Mehmet Okur scored 20 points and Paul Millsap added 16 points, nine rebounds and tied a career high with seven assists for the Jazz, who capitalized on the Thunder’s 24 turnovers. Kevin Durant had 29 points and 10 rebounds and Russell Westbrook had 20 points but the Thunder couldn’t rally after falling behind in the second quarter.

Andrei Kirilenko to have ankle surgery

Utah Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko will undergo surgery Friday to remove a bone fragment from his right ankle, Jazz general manager Kevin O’Connor announced today.

The surgery will be performed by Dr. John Edwards at 7 a.m. Friday morning.

A report on the surgery and an estimated timeline for Kirilenko’s recovery will be provided following the procedure.

Spurs beat Jazz 106-100 on strong fourth quarter

The AP reports: Manu Ginobili made all eight of his foul shots in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 of his 13 points in the final period to help the Spurs hold off the Utah Jazz 106-100 on Tuesday night. Ginobili made 11 of 12 foul shots, saving the Spurs from an embarrassing night at the line and keeping the Jazz from rallying at the end. “Until that horn goes off, you’re worried about whatever may happen,” said Tim Duncan, who had 24 points and nine rebounds for the Spurs… Tony Parker added 24 points and six assists for the Spurs, who have won five of six. Matt Bonner scored 20, going 6-for-7 on 3-pointers as the Spurs went 11-for-20 from beyond the arc. “They started off the second half really hot, knocking down 3s,” said Ronnie Brewer, who led Utah with 23 points… Deron Williams had 19 points and 13 assists and Mehmet Okur had 22 points and a season-high 17 rebounds for Utah, which lost its fourth straight.

Nene, Smith spark Nuggets’ win over Jazz

The AP reports: Chauncey Billups can’t fathom having a game like Nene did Sunday night. Nene tied a career high with 28 points and sank every one of his dazzling dozen shots in Denver’s 117-97 rout of the Utah Jazz… J.R. Smith scored 13 of his 22 points in the first quarter, setting the tone for Denver’s rare rout of Utah, which fell 4 1/2 games behind the first-place Nuggets in the Northwest Division with its third straight loss and second in 24 hours… Chauncey Billups added 22 points and Linas Kleiza came up with 18 off the bench for the Nuggets, who had lost 10 of their previous 13 against Utah.

James leads Cavs over Jazz 102-97

The AP reports: LeBron James scored 33 points, pulled down 14 rebounds and was just one assist short of a triple-double while leading Cleveland to a 102-97 win over the Utah Jazz on Saturday night. Mo Williams added 25 points and four assists, including three alley-oops to James, as the Cavs closed out a four-game road trip with their third straight win… Cleveland’s Anderson Varejao finished with 14 points and seven rebounds, going 7-for-8 from the floor while filling in for injured center Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Deron Williams had a season-high 16 assists and scored 17 points for Utah, which had won seven straight at home. Paul Millsap finished with 24 points and 15 rebounds, but the Jazz could not keep up with the Cavs at the end despite Cleveland’s late night Friday in a 106-105 win at Golden State on James’ 19-foot jumper just before time expired.

Jazz owner has drastic leg surgery

Larry H. Miller had surgery early this morning to remove his lower legs to six inches below the knee.  The operation went well and he is recovering in the hospital.  The surgery is a result of complications due to type 2 diabetes.

“Larry is doing well and is expected to continue to recover in the coming weeks and months,” said Greg Miller, CEO of the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies.

Currently, Larry is not available for media interviews.  The Miller family greatly appreciates the support they are receiving from the community, but have no further details to share at this time.

Yao, Alston carry Rockets past Jazz 108-99

The AP reports: No matter who’s in the lineup, no matter when they meet during the season, the Houston Rockets always expect a tough game against the Utah Jazz. Yao Ming had 19 points and 12 rebounds, Rafer Alston scored 23 and the Rockets built a big lead, then hung on to beat the Jazz 108-99 on Wednesday night. Deron Williams had 32 points and 11 assists and Ronnie Brewer had 23 points for the Jazz, who’ve dropped seven of their past 10 road games. Andrei Kirilenko sat out for Utah after leaving Tuesday’s game against Minnesota with a right ankle injury… “It’s really hard for them to give up,” said Luis Scola, who had 19 points and nine rebounds for Houston. “That pretty much guarantees it’s going to be a close game.”

Andrei Kirilenko day-to-day

Utah Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko, who left last night’s win over Minnesota with an inflamed right ankle, is doubtful for tonight’s game at Houston.  Kirilenko left last night’s 112-107 win over the Timberwolves with 6:43 remaining in the second quarter and did not return.  He received a cortisone injection in the ankle following the game and is day-to-day.

Okur and Jazz beat Wolves 112-107

The AP reports: Mehmet Okur scored 22 points and hit consecutive late 3-pointers to boost the Utah Jazz past the Minnesota Timberwolves 112-107 on Tuesday night for their seventh straight home win. Paul Millsap led Utah with 28 points and 15 rebounds and his dunk gave the Jazz a 97-89 lead midway through the fourth quarter… With a chance to claim their first lead, Al Jefferson, who had 25 points and eight rebounds, missed a jump hook and Okur grabbed the rebound. He then made his consecutive 3s and added a free throw. Deron Williams, who had 17 points and 11 assists, drained a jumper to expand the advantage to 106-97. Ryan Gomes and Foye led Minnesota’s rally with late 3-pointers and each finished with 19 points. Sebastian Telfair scored 17, but couldn’t keep the Timberwolves from losing a sixth consecutive game in Salt Lake.
