Mavericks sign Kai Jones, waive Kylor Kelley

The Dallas Mavericks have signed center Kai Jones to a Two-Way contract.

In a related move, the Mavericks have requested waivers on Two-Way center Kylor Kelley.

Jones (6-11, 221) appeared in 95 career games with the Charlotte Hornets and Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 2.5 points (.600 FG%) and 1.9 rebounds in 8.6 minutes per game.

The 24-year-old, waived on March 1, joins the Mavericks after appearing in 28 games for the Clippers in 2024-25, averaging 2.2 points (.722 FG%, .750 FT%) and 1.6 rebounds in 7.4 minutes.

Originally selected by New York with the 19th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, before having his draft rights traded to Charlotte, the Nassau, Bahamas native spent his first two seasons with the Hornets playing alongside Mavericks forward P.J. Washington Jr. from 2021-22 to 2022-23.

Previously, the 6-11 center spent two seasons at the University of Texas, where he was named the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year and All-Big 12 honorable mention in 2021.

Jones will wear No. 23 for the Mavericks.

Kelley (7-0, 230) signed a Two-Way deal with the Mavericks on Jan. 26 and made his NBA debut the next night against Washington. He appeared in eight games with Dallas, making one start, while averaging 3.0 points and 2.6 rebounds in 8.4 minutes.

Wizards sign Justin Champagnie to multi-year contract

The Washington Wizards have signed forward Justin Champagnie to a multi-year NBA contract.

In a related move, Washington released forward Jalen McDaniels from his 10-day contract.

Champagnie, who signed a two-way contract with Washington on Mar. 3, 2024, has averaged 7.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game in 55 appearances over his two seasons with the Wizards. In 40 games (15 starts) this season, Champagnie has already set career highs in games and starts, while also currently averaging career highs in points (7.5), rebounds (4.6), field goal percentage (.504), and three-point percentage (.376).

Champagnie also appeared in eight games for the Capital City Go-Go this season, averaging 20.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. He was selected to participate in the G League Up Next Game as part of the NBA’s All-Star weekend in February, scoring five points in six minutes of action.

Spurs sign Bismack Biyombo for remainder of 2024-25 season

The San Antonio Spurs have signed center Bismack Biyombo for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

Biyombo originally signed a 10-day contract with San Antonio on Feb. 9, followed by a second 10-day deal on Feb. 21. In eight games (seven starts) with the Spurs, he has averaged 5.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in 16.5 minutes per game, including back-to-back double-doubles in New Orleans on Feb. 23 and 25.

In 847 career games (358 starts), the 13-year veteran holds career averages of 5.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.30 blocks in 19.5 minutes with Charlotte, Toronto, Orlando, Phoenix, Memphis, Oklahoma City and San Antonio.

Grizzlies sign Lamar Stevens to second 10-day contract

The Memphis Grizzlies have signed forward Lamar Stevens to a second 10-day contract.

Stevens (6-6, 230), who signed his first 10-day contract with the Grizzlies on February 21 as a Call-Up from the NBA G League’s Motor City Cruise, recorded six points and four rebounds in 16 minutes in his season debut on March 1 vs. San Antonio. He started all 29 of his appearances with the Cruise this season and averaged 17.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.4 blocks in 34.1 minutes.

Unselected in the 2020 NBA Draft out of Penn State, the 27-year-old has competed in 204 games (41 starts) and has averaged 5.7 points and 2.9 rebounds in 15.7 minutes in five seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics and Grizzlies.

Warriors sign Kevin Knox II to second 10-day contract

The Golden State Warriors yesterday signed forward forward Kevin Knox II to a second 10-day contract.

Knox II, 25, appeared in three games with Golden State during his first 10-day contract from February 19 – February 28, averaging 7.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 8.2 minutes per game. The 6’ 7” forward has played in 28 games with Santa Cruz this season, averaging 21.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 32.6 minutes per game. He was named NBA G League Player of the Week for the opening week of the regular season (Dec. 27–Jan. 5).

Pelicans sign Lester Quinones, waive Jalen Crutcher

The New Orleans Pelicans have signed guard Lester Quinones to a two-way contract.

In a related move, New Orleans has waived Jalen Crutcher.

Quiñones, 6-4, 208, Quinones has appeared in 27 games this season for the Pelicans’ G League affiliate, the Birmingham Squadron, averaging 22.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.3 steals in 37.0 minutes per game.

Quiñones has appeared in 45 NBA games over three seasons with the Golden State Warriors and Philadlephia 76ers, holding career averages of 4.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 9.5 minutes per contest.

Jazz sign Jaden Springer to multi-year contract

The Utah Jazz have signed guard Jaden Springer to a multi-year contract.

Springer originally signed a 10-day contract with Utah on Feb. 20.

Springer (6-4, 204, Tennessee) has appeared in four games for the Jazz this season, owning averages of 3.5 points on 55.6 percent from the field and 1.3 assists in 8.8 minutes per game.

Drafted in the first round with the 28th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the 76ers, Springer has additional professional experience in the G League with the Delaware Blue Coats and Maine Celtics, appearing in 44 regular season games (42 starts) with averages of 17.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. He helped the Delaware Blue Coats to a 2022-23 G League Championship victory where he was named Finals MVP.

A native of Charlotte, N.C., he played one collegiate season at Tennessee (2020-21), seeing action in 25 games (15 starts) with averages of 12.5 points on 46.7 percent from the field and 43.5 percent from beyond the arc, along with 3.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.2 steals in 25.9 minutes per game.

Rockets upgrade Nate Williams to a standard contract, waive Cody Zeller

The Houston Rockets have converted guard/forward Nate Williams’ deal to a standard NBA contract.

In a related move, the Rockets have waived center Cody Zeller.

Williams (6-5, 205) spent the past season and a half as a two-way player with the Rockets. He has appeared in 30 games for Houston over that span, while averaging 19.1 points per 36 minutes played and shooting 55.6% from the floor.

This season, Williams appeared in a total of 17 G League Showcase and regular season games while transferred to the Rockets affiliate, Rio Grande Valley. He averaged 20.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.8 steals in those games.

Cavs sign Nae’Qwan Tomlin, waive JT Thor

The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed forward Nae’Qwan Tomlin to a two-way contract, Cavaliers President of Basketball Operations Koby Altman announced today from Cleveland Clinic Courts.

In a related move, the team has waived forward JT Thor, who appeared in nine games this season for the Cavaliers and 24 games (22 starts) with the Cleveland Charge. Thor was signed as a two-way player with the Cavaliers on September 9.

Tomlin (6-8, 205) signed a 10-day contract with the team on February 10th and appeared in three games for the Cavaliers. Tomlin has also appeared in 37 games (23 starts) this season for the Cleveland Charge, the Cavaliers’ exclusively owned and operated NBA G League affiliate, averaging 15.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.4 blocks in 28.4 minutes. On February 7th versus the Westchester Knicks, he scored a G-League career-high 37 points on 13-24 (.541) shooting from the field, a career-high five made three-pointers to go with 11 rebounds and four blocks in 41 minutes.

A native of Harlem, New York, Tomlin went undrafted after playing collegiately at Memphis (2023-24), Kansas State (2022-23), Chipola College in the NJCAA (2020-22) and Monroe Community College (2019-20). In 57 games (45 starts) at the Division I level, including an Elite Eight appearance with Kansas State, he averaged 11.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.04 steals and 1.04 blocks in 27.0 minutes. During his senior season at Memphis, Tomlin played in 21 games (11 starts) with averages of 14.1 points on .601 shooting from the field, 6.0 rebounds and 1.14 blocks in 26.7 minutes. He also appeared in five games as a member of the Cavaliers 2024 Summer League team.

Clippers sign Jordan Miller

The LA Clippers yesterday signed forward Jordan Miller.

Miller, 25, has appeared in 30 games for the Clippers this season, averaging 4.7 points and 1.7 rebounds in 12.4 minutes. He has scored in double figures six times, including a season-high 15 points Nov. 27 at Washington. The 6-foot-5 forward has also played in six regular season games with the San Diego Clippers, averaging a team-high 24.5 points along with 5.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 31.4 minutes. Miller is shooting 51.1% (47-92) from the field and has recorded 20-point performances in five-of-six contests.

Originally selected by the Clippers with the 48th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Miller was selected to the NBA 2K25 All-Summer League First Team. Prior to his time in the NBA, he played collegiately at George Mason (2018-21) and the University of Miami (2021-23).
